We were incredibly fortunate to stay here for a night in August. It really is too bad that we couldn't stay longer. Cheryl is a wonderful host, and her B&B has so many nice touches, both inside and out. The breakfast was beyond amazing, all made by Cheryl and tasted WOW! Not sure if we will be passing through North Sydney again any time soon, but we have certainly told everyone we know what a fantastic experience we had. Thank you, Cheryl!

Incredible!

Such a delightful b&b. Our room (actually two rooms) was very nicely appointed with a generous sized private bathroom. The home cooked and locally source breakfast was delicious. I might have eaten enough for two! A perfect place to stay before starting or finishing the Cabot Trail.

A delight!

Absolutely wonderful, Cheryl was there to greet us, showed us to our room and explained everything. She recommended a fabulous restaurant for dinner ( Black Spoon Bistro, note it is cash only), the goo was delicious. We had the room with the deck overlooking the gardens, and the fountain.

Breakfast was over the top presentation, everything was homemade and scrumptious. 

Cheryl took time to answer all of questions about her home, the beautiful antiques as well as places to visit.

We will definitely return and highly recommend Chambers Guest House B&B

Outstanding 

I booked this B&B for two nights when we got off the ferry from Newfoundland and as a home base for a day trip to Louisbourg. What a great choice! Even though the home is filled with all kinds of knick-knacks, collectibles and glassware, it is perfectly spotless. It's like being able to tour a lovely heritage home and then stay there overnight! The bed was super comfortable with a choice of pillows -- feather and foam. The walk-in shower had lots of hot water and room to maneuver.  Cheryl is the most friendly, accommodating host! When we decided to picnic in the beautiful flower garden rather than go out for supper, she brought us some grapes and a baguette to go with the cheese (that we brought) and the wine (that she had available for guests!). The breakfasts were spectacular! Delicious homemade biscuits, an egg dish, and pancakes or waffles with real maple syrup. Wonderful coffee, too! Next time I look forward to checking out the Sleeping Swan, the other B&B Cheryl is opening. 

Far more than a way-stop! 

Chambers Guest House is absolutely stunning - I don't think I will ever stay anywhere else like it, and I could have stayed and admired it for days. The downstairs feels like a museum it is so packed with tasteful and beautiful antiques and collections, and the whole thing is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. 

Our room had a private porch with chairs we didn't get a chance to enjoy but that looked very cozy for folks who stay multiple days or arrive in the daytime. Our rooms were very large with lots of space for the (gigantic!!) bed, big windows, tv, sofa chairs, table etc. There is a shared mini fridge for guests and access to a Keurig for boiling water at all times. The outdoor gardens are also spectacular and impossible to fully capture in photos. Lots of different chairs and even a few fountains and mini ponds with soothing running water. Cheryl was thoughtful about choosing the room for us she felt would be coolest based on night breezes vs fans.

The location was perfect for getting to Bird Island Boat Tours (20 min drive) and lots of box stores for basic amenities (Walmart, pharmacy etc). 

Unfortunately we forgot to double check the check-in times and Cheryl was not pleased with our late arrival despite our coming into a minor emergency on the way that delayed us, so I definitely recommend arriving during check-in hours and leaving time for minor emergencies when travelling there. My partner felt a little uncomfortable at breakfast when I was unable to eat with her because I was quite unwell. Cheryl had made what sounded like a spectacular homemade breakfast (my partner was vegan and couldn't have most of it which was fine because she didn't plan on it) but Cheryl expressed her disappointment with our being unable to appreciate her food (I would have loved to if I could!). The atmosphere was a little tense with Cheryl but the accommodations were just stunning. 

Stunning rooms and gardens but a little less friendly

My wife, Jo, and I recently travelled to Fredericton, NB for a square dance convention, then on to Cape Breton.  We stayed at a sister B&B  (The Sleeping Swan B&B) in North Sydney, NS and enjoyed every minute of our stay.  Our host, Tammy, was 'first class', very welcoming, friendly and very accommodating in our queries about restaurants, etc.. and her recommendations on how to tour the Cabot Trail.  We loved every minute that we were at The Sleeping Swan.  Breakfasts were fabulous too, which started off each day for us  perfectly.

Our Cape Breton Trip

Magic! Imagine sleeping in a comfortable and perfectly curated antique shop with killer breakfast and you’ve got an idea of this gem of a B and B. The furniture, art and decor are perfect. The garden is huge and gorgeous. Breakfast is all homemade and delicious. This is a great place to stay before the ferry to Newfoundland or as a home base to explore Sydney, Louisberg, Glacé Bay and the south west side of Cape Breton Park and the Cabot Trail.

Chambers Charming Guesthouse ❤️

Came to North Sydney as part of a self made tour around Nova Scotia from the UK. The trip and accommodation was planned from the UK

On contacting the Chambers B & B we were told it was full but would we consider stying at their sister guesthouse the Sleeping Swan. We said yes

The sleeping swan is outstanding. On arrival we were greeted by the host Tammy who went through the usual things ie WiFI codes and contact numbers. Immediately we were struck by the period decor, the cleanliness of the property and en-suite bathroom which were exceptional. The room was so well decorated and comfortable with bottles of water and other unexpected extras provided

Tammy went out of her way to make sure we were well looked after, offering extra towels and even a glass ( or 2 ) of wine and nibbles in the evening before going to dinner etc . 

Breakfast was amazing, freshly cooked  and we had home made honey and maple syrup from their property. 

If you are planning a stop over in North Sydney you would be mad NOT to stay here.    You will need to book!!!

Fantastic and Exceptional

Came here as a couple from the UK touring Nova Scotia.  We tried to book this guest house from the UK but was told it was fully booked but would we like to try their sister B & B the Sleeping Swan. We did and was not disappointed. we stayed for 3 nights.

On arrival we were felt very welcome by Tammy our host. We were shown around the property which had a country house feel about it and the decor exactly matched the period of the property. The property was clean and welcoming and the bedroom and bathroom were sparkling clean. The bedroom had extra touches like bottled water  etc and Tammy made sure that we were not short of clean towels etc 

In the evening wine was provided with nibbles and Tammy and her husband were genuinely interested in our travels etc .

Breakfast in the morning was again exceptional with all home cooking and the home made honey and maple syrup was a good touch

If you are staying in North Sydney you would be mad not to stay here.

It is very good value for money

Fantastic and Outstanding

This is an excellent bed and breakfast. The owner, Sheryl, made us welcome and made sure everything was as good as it could be.  The house, rooms, equipment and decor were all first rate, well maintained.  The accoutrements were amazing.  Just to keep them all clean would be a challenge yet they all gleamed.  The room was spotless with every amenity, including wifi.  Last thing in the evening Sheryl left all guests with a decanter of wine to share in the lounge which provided a nice social gathering.  We will definitely return to Chambers.  Highly recommended.
