My husband and I made a five day cycling trip from tip to tip on the Confederation Trail. This B&B was one of the carefully planned advance reservations we made. The reservation was made through Tourism PEI and we received a written confirmation number for our stay. The day we arrived was the only slightly rainy day of our ride so we were looking forward to getting indoors to dry off. We called ahead to find out what the check-in procedure would be.  We got a voice message saying "We are at Wilson's Coffee and will get back to you." We never received a response. When we arrived there was nobody around to meet us or let us in. There was a note on the door saying the owners had gone away to a festival for the weekend. We tried again to call and text but never heard back. We rode the additional 11 km into Charlottetown and had a lovely stay at an Inn there. Even now several days later we never received a call back or apology of any kind from Beside the Trail. It may be a very nice place but I strongly caution against relying on a confirmed reservation and would not recommend planning to stay here unless you have the flexibility to change plans unexpectedly. Fortunately all of our other advance reservations for our trip worked out beautifully - we were greeted by gracious hosts or provided clear information about access and check-in. This was a frustrating experience after a long and somewhat wet day of riding.

Nobody there to let us in

Oh my... what a nice stay...would've stayed longer had I planned my stuff better.  My daughter and I slept very well in super comfortable, clean beds...awesome cozy upstairs, bathroom was big & clean....coffee hot & ready when I woke...I think I drank a whole pot!  I wandered out back thru a beautiful serene garden, with fairy homes, a fish pond & fountain and beautiful little decorated garden thingys and fabulous plants, beach sand...  I even got to put my letter in the Fairy Mailbox!  The whole place re-inspired me to continue to nurture my passion for gardening -awesome way to enjoy a quiet mornin' with a GREAT cup of coffee (I'm not a "eat breakfast right-away kinda person, but I did see an awesome looking breakfast served to 3 young French ladies).  
     We'd also booked a "Sea Glass Wiring" class...OMG that was wayyy cool!!  Many beautifully handcrafted items in the dinning room too! Cindy & Guy are just beautiful people and we felt very welcomed and at home!  Bilingual too!!
All so close to everthing in PEI.... would definitely return.  Most reasonably priced!  Thank you so much for a wonderful stay... wishin you all the best Cindy & Guy!!

Absolutely Fabulous!!

The signage for this B & B is not readily visible as other B & B we stayed at during our tour across PEI.  The owner didn't want to spend the money to get a usual sign.  Consequently we rode almost 10 miles out of our way and eventually called to find our where to go because we missed it.  The owner called us because they were going out and wanted to know when we were going to arrive too.  the B & B is clean and the bed is good.  The owner is a "little stuffy," but her husband is much nicer.

Confederation Trail B & B

I have stayed at many B & B's internationally and I regretted booking this one.

Arriving at the B & B we were met at the door with the list of "do's and don'ts" of the establishment! The "welcome" @ the door and décor of the B & B reminded me of British B & B's of 50 years ago, cluttered and cramped.

Some points to consider, the B&B is also on the main #2 highway into Charlottetown, PEI.  If you have the rooms on the second floor, you must take off your shoes on the ground floor before going up and if its warm, with the windows open, you will have traffic noise day and night.  As for the breakfast, I would call it a mediocre/meager  breakfast, you definitely will not be impressed. Overall I do not recommend this B & B, best to pay more and be comfortable and better fed.

Disapointing stay

"Beside The Trail Bed and Breakfast" was in fact convenient to the trail but the breakfast was a bit minimal for getting energy to ride the trail. The owners roast their own good coffee and serve it for breakfast. Too many house rules posted throughout and the "African Themed Room" was a bit disconcerting. If your cycling the Confederation Trail it's very convenient and within a short walk of an EXCELLENT Chinese restaurant!

Convenient To The Trail

We loved our stay in Charlottetown and staying here in this beautiful, quiet and welcoming home made it even more enjoyable for us because Cindy and Guy were very friendly and we advised each other on the right corner restaurants and activities. Plus, they left you alone if you didn't want too much jelly and we'd have a great conversation if you did. Plus, the breakfasts were healthy and homemade, a nice change of restaurants! We keep the name in our papers for the next time!!

Super small B&B.

It all started for the best: Cindy and Guy waited for our arrival, although very late, to greet us! Guy and Cindy, despite their respective charges at the inn, already took a whole morning to call a lot of B&Bs, hotels, hostels and campsites, besides being very clear! We missed our flight, and they stayed available by mail to help us. Afterwards we had to leave Charlottetown to visit the island but we hadn't booked any places in advance. Guy and Cindy, despite their respective charges at the inn, took a whole morning to call a lot of B&Bs, hotels, hostels and campsites to find a solution in our prices and desires. They also helped us find a little jewelry to rent and then to a safe place for our own children to play.
