I checked in to this motel because they offered a great hospital rate and figured I was only going to be there 1 night.  I checked in and checked out immediately.  The beds were completely different sizes with mismatched bedding, the walls were cement with a little heater underneath the window. There were bugs in the curtains. They had a phone book but no phone.  They had no ice except some they took out of their own freezer and put in a shopping bag.  The last straw for me was no wifi.  They had wifi but it didn't work at all.  I was lucky to get one bar. We left and went to another place for $20.00 more and were greeted with a completely different experience.  I personally would not stay here again.
One thing I will say is the lady who was running it was very friendly.

Not impressed

We've seen a lot of motels or hotels on our tour, but this was actually the worst. The staff, you have to say, was extremely nice and helpful. The rooms were not very special. The smell in the room was not very special. After looking for a long time, we found an air freshener that was responsible for this peculiar smell. We immediately put it out and ventilated it properly. Then it went away a little bit. The air conditioning didn't go very well either.

Travel

We stayed here on a short 2 day trip and quite frankly chose it because it was the most reasonable room price available. We had booked through hotels.com. We arrived after hours but were greeted after a phone call to on-site staff. He was unable to find our reservation but had a room available. The rooms are decent - new flooring and tile in bathroom but evidence of work still in progress was in plain sight (unfinished drywall and a hole cut in the ceiling of the bathroom. Bed was comfortable and clean as was the room in general. Our biggest problem was an air conditioner that did not work very well but kept us from suffocating in the heat. A new energy efficient a/c unit is needed. There were also some unsavory characters in the courtyard - as well as staying in some units. I think this place makes most of it's money from long term tenants. The property is old and needs paint as well as some concrete work. Lobby is a bit eccentric and has some unnecessary clutter. Shower had great pressure. A nice little flat screen TV was nice! There is a nice effort to keep fresh flowers in planters. There is a lot of maintenance that needs to be done on the exterior. No security lock on our door and a missing slat or two in the blinds that made everything inside the room visible - my wife fixed that problem! Ice machine was broke down and we were told to buy ice and present a receipt in the morning for reimbursement. The biggest issue was check-out which was a huge issue. Front desk staff couldn't think for herself to solve an easy problem. We were told to wait for the on-site manager to come but he was out. We were very upset as staff including manager had no idea how hotels.com reservations work. We went shopping and had lunch and had not heard from the manager. We called and got told he had returned and we would be forwarded to his room - when answered the manager swore into the phone and was very unprofessional (not realizing it was a customer  - not staff)! We finally left Cranbrook without a resolution but confirmed through hotels.com that our room had been pre-paid. Something they should know at the front desk! Forget the ice reimbursement! It will do in a pinch if you need a room as they are not bad. Otherwise look for something else.

I arrived on bus in a snow storm. Our bus was two hours late and I arrives at 1:30 am. I had called earlier (yet left no deposit) and the owner was waiting for me outside as he stayed up to see when the bus got in. I was grateful. Although relatively clean, it was cold, blowing cold air and no wifi. 

A one star but kind staff

Hospitality Courtyard Inn is a nice place to stay over night in Cranbrook. People are very welcoming and kind, the area is qiet, close to A&W, Tim Hortins, McDonalds, and Tamarak mall. They gave us free breakfast cupons for A&W, which was very nice. 
There was a fridge, microwave, conditioner, TV, WiFi, coffee mashine, and complimentary coffee packages. 
The place is good, definetely worth your money.

The place is old but being remodelled. Our room was clean and comfy with a flat screen TV. Prices are very good. You get a $7 voucher for breakfast at A & W right across the street. 
Great courtyard-- nice to sit outside and relax.
Keith, the manager is great--very friendly and obliging. He even helped carry our bags to the room.
If you're looking for a basic, affordable place with a good location, then this is the place for you.
