Great price and easy access to restaurants and grocery stores. The bed isn’t as comfortable and it made my body a little itchy even before after taking a shower. Super nice view tho, as we were at the 13th floor.

I stayed for 5 nights (a mistake). I will provide a summary of what was wrong, because too many things were wrong to explain in detail.

-> Front desk incompetent and dysfunctional
            - Told me to 'google it' 2x when I asked questions
            - Did not pay attention to my concerns
            - Slow (took almost one hour to check in)
            - Did not respect lineup priority (helped 2 other guests while checking me in)
            - Watched me wait at the counter and went away to do other tasks
            - I had to call 2X for a noise complaint before they did anything about it
            - Not friendly. Did not see a single smile.
            - Refused to proceed a refund for parking surcharge
            - Did not explain the functioning of the gym the first time
            - Long lineups
            - Poor knowledge of the site (could not even tell me how to get to the residence when I called from the neighboring parkade.

-> Room was uncomfortable and noisy.
      - I got woken up by CONSTRUCTION WORKERS RIGHT ABOVE MY ROOM AT MIDNIGHT! The workers went on for an hour and kept dropping tools on the ground. It was so loud...
      - NO HEAT IN THE ROOM. I had to go to the front desk to get a very small noisy space heater. The room was at 16 degrees when I checked in. No heads up was given to me about the absence of a heating system; therefore I waited in the room for a while thinking that the heat would kick in. I wasted 3 hours in total trying to heat up the room.
        - Room was loud in general (I could hear neighbors and people in the corridors at all times.)
        - Not enough outlets (I only had a phone, laptop and a heater and was short one outlet)
        - I found dirty cloths on the ground when I checked in.

-> Gym difficult to access
         - You need to pickup a gym pass at the front desk just before going to the gym and lineups can be long.

-> Parking expensive.
        - 15$ per day is pretty expensive when comparing with surrounding parkade fees.
        - Their "deal" is a ripoff because you pay more than the regular parking fee of 12$. They will force you to take their "deal".

 The positive was that they gave me 75$ compensation for not providing heat in the room, and helped me with the parking surcharge (after I spent two days trying to have the money back).

Overall, listing this place as a hotel is an insult to real hotels that provide hassle-free service. I think that their staff are volunteers that get to stay at the residence for free. Staff members don't seem to have any hospitality training, it is a real problem because they will make you really angry by arguing with you and ignore you at the counter. I don't know why the rooms are not heated and they allow construction workers to drop tools on the floor above the rooms in the middle of the night - a total lack of common sense. 

Bad experience.

Shouldn't be listed as a hotel

This was not a hotel room, it was a concrete box. Very uncomfortable beds and sofa bed. Very small, claustrophobic room. Our pillows were stained and lumpy so we had to ask for better pillows and pillowcases (the "new" pillows were no better, but the new pillow cases were actually clean). Had to ask for a blanket at the front desk as the sofa bed didn't have one. We got the deluxe suite which was supposed to be the best, except it didn't even have a bathtub, only a small shower so if you have small kids with you that can't shower yet, they'll just have to wait until home to get clean or use baby wipes. It cost us $140 a night before taxes and parking costs. Parking was $25. Also, if you loose a room key, it will cost you $170. Check in took waaayyy too long considering we already had the room reserved. The front desk was very unknowledgeable and they spend too much time talking amongst themselves and pretending to do busy work. Every time we needed something they had to go to another floor to get it which took very long. They also say they have a pool and gym but it's in another building on campus somewhere and you have to go to the front desk to ask for a key as they don't give it to you when you check in. Also, they make you pay the total hotel costs for all nights before you get into the room. I've never had a hotel do that before. And they also will charge you cleaning fees on your credit card if you leave any dirty dishes, so you have to do your own dishes which is okay, we didn't use dishes anyway. But it just concerns me that other people that stay in the room could just put plates back in the cupboard without being properly cleaned because they don't want to be charged the cleaning fee. Also, even though the walls are concrete (I'm assuming), they were very thin. We could hear the couple next door to us talking in the morning and I'm sure they could hear us too. Pictures on websites for the hotel are very misleading. They make it look bigger than it is. The only good thing about this room is that we were close to our sister who is a student there. But there are plenty of hotels just down the street, very close to Macewan that have better prices, better rooms, and that are also close to Rogers Place if that's what you're looking for. Will not stay here again.

Don't stay here

It has the practicality of a dormitory, with polished cement floors, spartan furniture etc. The bed was comfortable enough if only we could sleep.
The room was terribly hot. There is no A/C and there is no ventilation at all. Only the very bottom of the window opens so there is no fresh air coming in. They do provide one very small fan, but it was not nearly enough. There isn't even a bathroom fan that we could turn on to get some air moving. Hallways were very hot as well so propping the door open only would have made it worse. On a hot muggy night in Edmonton, we were very uncomfortable. NOTE: I'm not one that uses A/C very often when it is provided, so for me to find it hot is unusual.
Being a college dorm, you need to be prepared for a lot of security and tapping of pass cards.
PAY PARKING is $15/day and is in the building right next door. Again, lots of tapping and waving of cards to use it. Park out front for check in and they will give you the pass.

THERE IS NO TV IN THE ROOMS, but there is a TV lounge down the hall. 

The location is convenient, maybe 2 blocks from Rogers Arena, and within easy walking distance to pubs and fast-food outlets, as well as other shopping just up the street.

They provide the basics (bed linen, towels, toiletries) but if you want to use the kitchen you are expected to bring your own dishes and pots/pans etc. Kitchen is full size fridge, 2 burner stovetop and microwave.

The only time I heard any internal noise was when the housekeepers were in the hallway, so it is surprisingly quiet.

Before booking, check to see if the pool is open. It was closed during our stay.
 
Staff were very pleasant and efficient.

HOT! Too hot to sleep

Terrible service, incompetent management and dirty.

About what you expect from a bureaucrat trying to play businessman. Stay running a student residence - management clearly is incompetent at business.

Lazy cleaning staff walking around chattering with cellular phones in their headscarves. Incredibly unprofessional. But management tolerates it. Where else do you see that????

Awful

This is a basic dorm style accommodation.  Unfortunately it does not have air conditioning and the beds are hard.  

However, the location is amazing... close and convenient to everything.  You also have access to a great exercise facility.  

Just don't have high expectations for your accommodation.
