AMAZING PLACE!!
SADIE was phenomenal ❤️ 
She made a place for us and our SON when everywhere was booked. Her lovely personality was just what we needed after being evacuated from Kelowna.
The entire place is super clean. From the bathrooms to the kitchen. The games room and huge TV room were awesome. I will be recommending this place to everyone. I purchased a hat which has the raging elk on it and can't wait to tell people where I got it. 
If your staying in Fernie this where u want to be. It also has a bar for the adults to mingle w the locals and unwind. We will be back .

Best place to stay

If you are looking for a great place to stay (whether in a private or dorm room) this is the place to stay in Fernie!! The hostel has everything you need, whether it be the huge kitchen, games room, theatre room or a great evening at the Kodiak Bar (be sure not to miss open mike nights on Monday).

It also should be said that Sadie and Joe are the best hosts one could ask for and if you ask nicely they might give you some of their secret powder spots!!

So overall, great hosts, great location that won't break the bank and walking distance to everything.

If your going to Fernie, this is the place to Stay!!!

This is the second time staying here. The first time was only one night last winter when we were there for some skiing but 
this time I chose to enjoy a short summer holiday there and I was not disappointed. My partner and I had a family room. Would have preferred a private room as those have fridges but there were all booked up. We stayed for four nights. The room was cozy, the beds were very comfortable. I enjoyed the cubbies and hooks to keep things organized. 
 The staff were all friendly and so fun and helpful. Dylan who works in the Kodiak lounge in the lodge was exceptional! 
The food in the lounge was also really good! Try the fries! They're to die for!
I can't wait to go back again!

Feels Like Home!

If you want the local Fernie experience there is no better place to stay in Fernie. The best bar in town is right downstairs! The new pods are pretty sweet for the privacy they provide but the hostel experience of meeting other travelers is not sacrificed.

What an awesome place to stay in Fernie! 
Hostel with a soul and amazing staff. I have nothing to complain about, it's a friendly place to stay. I have fond memories of the months I spent there. Loved it!

The legend.

i was having a very unpleasant evening heading back to my dorm my second day, when as i got closer i started to smell the odor of marijuana and got even more upset because how could staff let that happen, as i was thinking that one of the men yelled at me for to take a 'bong rip'. i then asked what that was and the man explained, i later then took a rip from a bong and my whole trip turned around for the better. Very thankful marijuana is used in and around ski resorts.

This was our first stay at a hostel. Its definitely a bit rugged but we enjoyed ourselves. The reservation was screwed up so we had to stay in a dorm instead. No biggy, we just needed a bed for the night and had our expectations low. The price was right and everything was clean. The staff was friendly. There was a cat sleeping in the hallway which I found hilarious. The room was pretty warm. I would go back but wouldnt be staying for a long stay. 

Decent

It's a hostel through and through.  There's good and bad and it's got all the usual sights, sounds... smells... of a hostel.  But if that's just fine by you, the Raging Elk has charm, character, and a REALLY cool little private pub. There's not a reason in the world to pass up the Raging Elk if you're looking for a place to stay in Fernie.  Beds are comfortable.  Comforts are bare minimum, (room didn't have a roll of toilet paper, so I had to run and steal about 10 yards from the lobby) but adequate.  It just depends how much you care.  Price is affordable, although private rooms are not necessarily cheaper than alternatives.  The real highlight of the Raging Elk is the fun bar. Friendly, well appointed, generous pours, and cozy ambiance.  Don't shy away if you need a place to stay, but if you value comfort over cost, it might leave you wanting.

Classic hostel experience

Stayed here for a couple of days late January. Well organized and clean. Friendly and dedicated staff. Home to an eclectic mix of clientele of all ages. Nice bar, well equipped kitchen and lounge area. As with all hostel culture, open minded and easy going definitely a prerequisite which means rigid hypersensitive boy scout ocd's prone to complaining better off staying away. Will definitely come back and recommend this venue to friends and family.

Good place, good people.

We’re from England and when we travel to Fernie, The Raging Elk is the first place we think of. We’ve stayed at The Raging Elk several times now and have always been looked after very well. We’ve spent two summer seasons staying at The Raging Elk and a few shorter stays too. Whether we’ve booked in advance or just turned up, we’ve always had great service and our stay has been very comfortable. It is a family run hostel and the owners were very accomodating with all of our needs, both with enquiries before we arrived and during our stay. We met some very interesting like-minded people at the hostel; families, couples and single travellers and have stayed in touch with many of them. I thoroughly recommend this hostel and it is well deserving of the many local awards it has won. Looking forward to our next trip - whenever it is (the sooner the better!).
