An awesome getaway!  Extremely dog friendly.  Beautiful Lake Views.   Incredible hosts.    Loved the common areas like the library, the indoor swim spa, etc...   The suites are like apartments with fully functional kitchens and living rooms.   Looking forward to returning.

Home away from Home

Stayed at this lovely resort the wknd of Dec. 5th 2020. This was a surprise getaway for my birthday and I couldn’t have had a better gift than to visit this charming rustic kawartha gem ! We had the grandma’s suite. This suite has everything you could want with a nice separate bedroom with ensuite bathroom and private deck with hot tub. Also has full kitchen with nice spacious living room with 50” flatscreen TV with DVD & lots of channels to choose from . Off the living room is a small alcove with additional bed with exit to private deck with gazebo overlooking Sandy Lake. The hosts David & Michael could not have been more hospitable ! Always there to chat with or ask questions about anything . Great value for quick getaways close to the city I highly recommend this pet friendly resort and we will 100% return ! 

Great birthday escape !

David is the absolute best host ever. Such a warm, friendly and caring individual. Both Michael and David make you felt like you were staying with family and friends. We had 3 dogs with us and although 2 were larger than the other guest dogs - we never encountered any comments, concerns or problems. David says let them bark. Let them explore. The dogs had a social evening as well with the other dogs that were staying which made for a much more pleasant time when you know the names of those staying. Dogs of course - the human names were forgotten after introduction! Will definitely return - already planning the next visit!

Diamond in the Kawarthas - Fantastic

Woodhaven Lodge is a great place to getaway and relax. David and Michael are warm and friendly hosts and make you feel right at home. The suites have plenty of room and all the comforts you need. The ground floor rooms have fenced yards so the dogs can be let out safely. There is a sitting area with a great view of the lake and the dogs can roam freely around. We had fires each night and of course they have marshmallows and s’mores. 
If you are looking to have a vacation with your pets this is definitely the place to go. 


Fantastic

This is a small resort that is HUGE with heart and comfort!!! David and Michael (owner/managers) are old fashioned welcoming and the suites couldn’t be more comfortable or convenient. You are lakeside on beautiful, clear watered Sandy Lake in the Kawartha’s, and your fury family canines are just as welcome. This is THE place to relax! Go there NOW

A Gem of a Resort for you AND your dogs!!!

My husband and I were there over the weekend with our two dogs and absolutely loved the Woodhaven Country Lodge! We enjoyed snowshoeing out on the peaceful scenic lake right behind the lodge and found so much to do inside the lodge as well from the large collection of books, dvds,  puzzles and games to the pool table and hot tubs. The owners, David and Michael, are very welcoming and accommodating for us and our dogs. We really didn't want to leave and look forward to going again in the summer!

Loved this place!

This is the type of vacation I dream about - Woodhaven is not just a place you visit, it is an experience that stays with you long after you leave. Woodhaven is so special because of the people. David is an angel and he made sure my family felt like we were welcome and important. All of the guest are made to feel like this is their home. He and Michael have created that atmosphere with lots of cozy spots in the building to gather and relax, family style meals to partake in and lots of opportunity for conversation with David and the other friendly guests. When we drove away, my husband and I knew we could only describe ourselves as lucky for having found this special place. 

Dream Weekend

Truly have never visited a privately owned property like this! David and Michael made us and I'm sure everyone else feel like it was a place to call home. Not just pet friendly, but pets are encouraged to be involved with everything at the lodge. Beautiful winter scenery, wonderfully cozy rustic accommodations and superior hospitality. Even had a fresh baked pie waiting for our arrival. Definitely will be a return destination. 

Feels Like Home

We had a memorable stay at David and Michael's. They welcomed us and treated us like friends, and we didn't really feel like we were in a B&B, but rather like family! A lovely family with very kind dogs. It was paradise! We also met other very nice travelers with whom we shared several meals, prepared by David. The place is wonderful. We were able to canoe on the lake. The house is warm, there is a living room with an infinite number of DVDs if you want to watch a popcorn movie, as well as a heated indoor pool in the winter. Frankly, I have no qualms about doing this. I'll go back to B&B and look for anything! Anyone who has a business and I can recommend this place to Michael and David, and I can recommend it!

It's perfect.

My husband and I (and our yellow lab!) just got back from a 2 night weekend stay at Woodhaven. After reading all the reviews, we went with high expectations of the place but were not disappointed.  The experience surpassed my expectations!  The biggest draw was how gracious, welcoming and warm David was.  Right from when we parked our car, he offered to help with the bags, etc.  No one has ever done that for us before!  He gave us a tour of the property and settled us into our room.  I was a little nervous about the communal style dining - will we have awkward silences? do I have to talk to everyone on the table (i can be a little shy!), but the moment I walked into the dining room, my nervousness quickly disappeared and we sat chatting till long after dinner was over! Dinner was just delicious! One night we had chicken bake dish with salads, etc and the next night was salmon and the best freshly baked corn bread ever - thank you Michael and warm apple crisp with ice cream for dinner.  I could feel my eyes tearing up!  Such fond memories of lovely people, shared experiences, and interesting conversations. We stayed in Woodhaven suite. It was squeaky clean and very warm.  Thoughtful touches like a dog water bowl, doggie towels, etc, made me smile.  Why David even has fruits, desserts, tea coffee, etc in the communal kitchen and you can just help yourself to them! Woodhaven.  I'm coming back - for all seasons, through many years.  Thank you!
