Such a quaint place ... This lovely cottage , built in the year 1903 , for Uncle Sam , by his nephew , Roy ....any guessers ? Something to do with the general ....Sam....McGlaughlin . Reminds me , just like yesterday how it was back then . This restored home of a great Canadian businessman  , is where the last " Pippi Longstocking " movie was filmed . Restored by Builder and infamous Home Restorer , Robert K Sharp , in the year 1994 , this historical home boasts both charm and character . A walk around the grounds are breath taking . The pool is so nice. We have always loved this cottage.

Just like yesterday.....

Booked there to have a family week long vacation.  The place isn't as nice as I would have thought but it did the job.  Since the pricing wasn't that bad either I can't expect muh more.  Shirley was extremely helpful and very eager to please and made sure we were settling in nicely. 

The place can use a bit more cleaning but at the end of the season I guess it needs some more than the usual broom and mop job.  There were webs everywhere and bathroom looked as thought it hadn't been clean yet but they were able to come and redo it right away. The kitchen was lacking a lot but we made due.  They are trying their best but can't complain for the pricing.

Charming

We rented the property for a week to accommodate family members and friends attending a wedding nearby. It was not at all like the promotional literature we had seen which promised luxury accommodation. All the bedrooms were in need of redecorating and some needed a good clean. Some of the furniture was rickety and needed replacement. The lounge and kitchen/dining area was spacious and comfortable.
It would have been useful to have had access to the utility room to use the washing machine but this was locked.
The swimming pool was great but you have to provide your own towels.
In my view the property was vastly overpriced and not good value. Go to the Ramada around the corner.

In need of attention 

We arrived at Whispering Pines well ready for a few days relaxation.  The proprietor was a lovely lady, Shirley, who was eager to help with any enquiries.  However as soon as we walked in the door we realised that this was not what was promised.  The price was for a five star establishment but the reality was probably three star.  It is a charming old style house with lovely filled bookcases and spacious lounge and kitchen area which we were free to use and to help ourselves to tea and coffee - as these are not available in the rooms.
The rooms were relatively clean but with no facilities.  The showers had nasty curtains and the rooms were basic.  The lighting was poor and the rooms really don't reflect the photographs on the website.  The wifi rarely worked and the air conditioning was very hit and miss.  There were insect nets but one of our rooms had a lot of dead mosquitos around the window - on the inside.
I don't want to say this isn't a place to stay in just that the price is very steep for what is on offer.  The breakfast was nicely prepared but again, for that price, we were expecting a full buffet.
Again I have to reiterate that Shirley was lovely, very helpful and always on call.  However it wasn't what we were expecting.

Not the correct listing

rented a pontoon from these ppl a few weeks ago for a family fishing trip.  most horrible, filthy pontoon i've ever seen.  only seating was plastic chairs that was run over by spiderweb.  floor was thick with mud, no where to put our bags with food etc. used chairs for that could not put anything on the ground.
will never recommend or book with these ppl again.
