Three day stay. Room was fine - clean, everything worked fine. Didn't need the ac with windows open a bit and fan on. Very nice to have a covered veranda outside the sliding doors, great place to spend the evening and watch the sunset. BBQ worked fine. Ten minute drive to Huntsville, same time to Arrowhead. Convenient to Hwy 11, traffic noise wasn't troublesome and generally died off by 11:30. Security in the parking lot was good - well lit and behind the buildings, left our kayaks in the truck with no concerns.
Dishes, towels and cutlery were a bit skimpy but we traveled with kitchen/bath supplies so np. The sandy beach is a short walk through the woods. Note - while it is a nice beachy area its on a river with a fairly strong current and the banks are steep. Life jackets on the kids for sure.
We'd definitely stay there again, perfect place if you're not camping.


Pretty good deal, good location

I have never felt compelled to write a review until our one night stay this previous weekend. In one sentence, this establishment should be reported to the local Public Health unit. Air conditioning did not work, not internet or working television and the mold and smell in our room was unbearable. This used to be a great property  and well cared for, the owners should be ashamed of themselves. 

Location does not match this dismal property 

WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP.  Our room was one that was said to have a kitchenette.  Well it wasn’t much of a kitchenette at all.  Basically a counter top with an old fridge/freezer underneath.  The fridge was not clean at all and the freezer compartment had about three inches of ice built up in it and there were grooves where cans been in there. They advertise high speed internet.  It barley worked. When I sat on the bed, it made a buckling sound. I think it was a metal base with a thin crummy mattress.  Every time I moved, the bed would make a buckling sound.  TV didn’t work and they said it was temporarily down.  Sliding windows didn’t have any locks on them.  Don’t waste your money, stay far away from this dump.

Terrible stay

The rooms looked like they had been cleaned but were  not really that clean - hand prints on the windows, a Cheerio and some pasta on the floor.  There was a strong smell of cleaning product and the toilet runs.  The parking lot was pure ice and we had to salt it ourselves.  The ground floor windows do not close securely or lock. 
We asked for a refund as we had decided to leave, however we were told no.  We asked for some way to lock the window and were told that they were like this by design and not to worry.
The location is good.  The manager, Jay was pleasant.  The female staff member was abrupt with us.
Overall we were not happy with our experience and would not recommend staying here.

Do not recommend

Dirty. Dirty sheets, carpet, furniture, bathroom. Bathtub has very large duct tape patch where large cracks in tub floor extend out each end of patch. From reading past reviews this has been an issue for 6 months, Linens are thread bare. Kitchen is filled with signs saying u will be fined for basically using the dishes. The staff are rude when approached about the issues and say that most people do not care about the sub-par accommodations because they are just happy to be in Muskoka. I can tell you from experience that Muskoka has a lot better to offer than this shameful place.

Do not stay here!

I was desperate for a place to stay. I am traveling with my dog. The room smells worse than any boarding kennel. I can't say anything positive. Everything in the room was intensely gross! I paid over $200.00! It was a terrible feeling to try and go to sleep with the horrible smell. Do not stay here!

Disgusting.

The cottage has a mounting safety and cleanliness concerns including empty alcohol bottles left in and around the property to a physically unusable bath tub and very rude staff 

We booked 4 days complained when one of us got hurt in their damaged bathtub got refunded 2 days and evicted the same day with them not funding a new room 

If you want better service with people who care go to the holiday express by the Walmart it will save you gas, time and money

Cottage is unfit for lease

This little motel is not a fancy place, but I was very happy with my stay. I needed a one night stay near Port Sydney. It is adorable with purple doors and little wooden tulips on each door. The room itself was very clean. This is a very simple and basic place.  I have a 200 pound Saint Bernard that I needed to accommodate, and there was no problem. There was a little tiny fridge/freezer for her food and water, and a microwave to warm her food up. Perfect.  If you are looking for fancy, this is not the place, however, if you are looking for a cottagey, sweet, camp fire, short walk to a little beach/stream area, with lovely people and a relaxing cottagey type experience,  this was good. It was relatively close to Huntsville, not too far from Port Sydney, and the motel was easy to find. The manager was very nice and helpful. The motel was having the parking area fixed up/paved, but the gentleman whom I spoke to was very respectful, helped me with the dog, and said he was working around the guests staying as to not disrupt their stay to the best of his ability. Lovely.  As I said, fancy, this is not it. I have stayed in very fancy hotels with pools, and elegant eating, and all of that. Those types of hotels are fantastic. But, if you are just needing a kind, simple, pet friendly, kid friendly, environment, to be up north for whatever reason,  this was a very good option.

Adorable

We recently spent a night at this motel. I can now see why they have received so many bad reviews. Our total charge for this room was 175.00 with a pet. The room we were given was definitely not worth 175.00. The room had a foul odour, it was small, the air conditioning did not work well and the girl at the desk looked at me like i had two heads when i asked for a blow dryer. The private beach is a sandy area backing onto a river that does not look like it is safe to swim in. It is a shame because the property is large and  if they put some money into it it could be a nice spot.

Will not stay here again…

We only spent one night. Based on the other reviews I’m going to guess this place was impacted by COVID. There appear to be people living at the hotel. Our room was clean. The bed was comfortable. But if things are run down a bit it’s the little things that matter. The coffee maker and tray were not clean. The carpet at the door was from the dollar store and should have been replaced. The coffee table was broken (just remove it). Most of the holes in the wall were patched but a coat of paint would have done wonders. The ceiling had been patched from water damage but not finished.  The bathroom was redone and would have been amazing except you stopped short of either replacing the tub or having bath fitter in to cover it. 
 We won’t stay again. If we had our daughter with us we wouldn’t have stayed at all. It’s unfortunate. The family who run it seem lovely.
