The only good thing about this place is the location.  Our room was furnished with mis-matched hideous furniture, the blinds had seen better days, the bathroom was tired and dated with toiletries left over from the previous guest. Breakfast was cold and over-cooked.
I have to wonder if the rave reviews are genuine…

A lovely, friendly and welcoming small hotel.  The room was very comfortable albeit that the trimmings are a bit dated (but well kept). Breakfast was awesome with a great selection, and what an amazing setting to stay in! Good value - worth considering.

Simple and Splendid

Had a very hard time reserving a room because no one answered the phone.  I left several messages and later found that they booked us twice.  The room with a queen bed was comfortable and they had an outside porch overlooking the water where our group of 8 could meet and relax.  The breakfast was ok...a buffet with nothing out of the ordinary but the dining area was very nice.  We were able to pay cash and avoid the VAT tax.  

Hard to reserve a room

We had only one night at this lovely Inn during our road trip in June.   Our room was basic, very cozy, but clean.   The bed was comfy, and the included breakfast the next morning was spectacular.   Every staff member we spoke with was friendly and had helpful tips on how to best enjoy our visit.  It was unfortunate that the onsite restaurant wasn’t open for dinner, but we had a very nice recommendation from the front desk, and she did not steer us wrong.  

The only thing we can comment negatively on would be the condition of the electrical outlets.   They were all very loose, to the point that our phone chargers slowly came unplugged overnight.   I tried the outlet in the bathroom, and the ground fault fuse blew.   I guess this is to be expected in older buildings, but it was a bit frustrating.  



Nice place

This is a simple but very nice place overlooking Ingonish Harbor.  The rooms are not fancy but nice and the ones looking out over the water have wonderful views.  The carpet is new and the upholstery on the sleeper sofa is clean. The breakfast is pretty darned good for the remoteness of the Inn’s location.   Fresh fruit and real scrambled eggs and bacon.   The breakfast area has a large deck and windows that look out over water.  The restaurant is closed for dinners - staffing issues prevail throughout Cape Breton.  Access to the National Park is excellent.

Very nice B & B

Although the rooms aren’t fancy, the bed is very comfortable, there is everything you need and the view from the deck is beautiful. The best part of this charming place is Kim, the owner. She made the best breakfast we had on our whole trip and was very knowledgeable and helpful as we planned our trip around Cabot Trail. Because we weren’t there in high season, the dining room wasn’t open for dinner but the dining room looked lovely.

Kim is a great host

We booked this hotel many months before we travelled through Canadian Affairs, only to arrive on the day to say they had over booked and booked us in at the Keltic Lodge 11 km down the road we had just travelled, it was gone 6pm in the evening. They tried to sell it to us as an upgrade. That could not be further from the truth, they had booked us in at the cheapest room the Keltic lodge had which did not match the standard of the Castle Rock room. It was a chalet type room about a 1/4 mile from the main building down an unlit road. I have stayed in better quality budget hotels than this. We asked the Castle Rock if we could eat there as we knew the Keltic lodge would be more expensive, they refused. I would strongly recommend not booking this hotel if you want to avoid a lot of stress.

Cannot be trusted to honour your booking

What an amazing place! from the moment I walked in I was so comfortable, I kept needing to remind myself that this was a hotel. So warm and inviting. The view was breathtaking and so peaceful. Kim was an amazing host and so accommodating. Constantly making sure everything was ok, and we were comfortable. The breakfast each morning was delicious and while we did not get a chance to have dinner there, the smell was amazing. If someone was not sure what to do that day, Kim had a list ready to go and offered a call to coordinate times and tickets. There was a couple that had no car and she drove them herself. I am trying to plan my trip there next year!

Simply Beautiful!

My boyfriend and I just settled in our air b n b. Around 6:30 we headed towards this place for food (about a 20/30 minute drive down the road ) because we phoned and it said it was open on the voicemail. Drove passed a bunch of food places opened along the way and when we got here it was closed, drove back to our air b n b hoping to catch something along the way but they had all closed while we were driving to this restaurant. Anyways...going without food now because of false advertising. Update your voicemail and your online hours so this hopefully doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Wrong hours advertised

This Inn is absolutely adorable and well-kept. The staff is so well mannered, informative and caring (all students and so sweet!). The view is stunning and the Inn has ample amount of parking up front. Great visit and we would definitely stay again!
