HORRIBLE. Worst hotel experience ever. There were bugs in our room. One was crawling accross the table just before we ate and then another was crawling up my leg while I was eating.  Not one staff member could be found when needed. It was literally like we were the only people in the entire hotel. We did not see any other guests, parking lot was empty, and no staff whatsoever.  At checkout i waited at the front desk for 15 minutes rinigng the bell and using the lobby phone waiting for someone to help me because I wanted to tell someone about our room. No one could be found. I was yelling hello hello is anyone here in the lobby and no answer. I finally started going up to the second and third floor still yelling hello is anyone here and still no answer from anyone.  I ended up finding a cleaning lady who told me that she also had no idea where the owner lady went. I ended up having to give her my room key (yes and actual key not a card) and we left. About an hour or so later the owner lady called my cell phone and demanded to know where the room key was. I told her about the checkout experience and that I left the key with the cleaning lady. She said ok and basically hung up the phone. There are many other options in this area. I would give this hotel zero stars if I could.

We traveled to Red Deer with our family of 5 to attend an event with friends. All our regular places were booked up, and I was impressed by the price here, especially with enough beds for everyone. Unfortunately, it was during a very intense heat wave. This place said it had air conditioning, and yes there are air conditioning units, but they had clearly run out of freon around 1989. Thankfully one of the two fridges in the room worked so I cycled through wet towels fresh from the fridge to keep my peri-menopausal body from spontaneously combusting. But it was clean and the staff was kind, helpful and cheerful despite the heat, and brought us a total of 4 bags of ice throughout the evening, plus supplied plates and cutlery for our pizza at no charge. We had a corner room so there was some air circulation and there was a fan in the room. Breakfast was simple but adequate. In short, the place is very bare bones, but will do in a pinch, and the price is right. Just don't stay there during a heat wave.

"Air Conditioning" is a lie.

Room was clean and comfortable as was the mattress.  Table and two chairs ideal for eating or playing cards.  Staff  helpful and nicely laid out breakfast with good variety of foods.  Easy access to city and adjacent facilities.

Well priced, clean and comfortable.

Always stop on our way north, clean quiet room at a great price.  Great bed fridge and microwave and a cold continental breakfast in the morning.  Very friendly owner and staff. Nothing fancy but great value for your dollar.

Passing through one night stop,

We attend an event in Red Deer every year and have stayed at more than one hotel/motel. As a growing family with several children, this location offered a separate room within the room from our/parents' bed. Everyone had lots of space and it was a much better price than rates for other hotels with a king suite with fold-out (with the bonus that everyone got a spot on an actual bed!). That kind of room has a fridge. If it had a small quantity of dishes and cupboard with small counter it would be unbeatable, but is very doable, and we are planning to stay here again this year. Very close to Westerner Park where the event is, so if the weather is nice, we can walk!
The owner is pleasant and runs a nice facility. She is very organized. It is obvious she thinks about her business.

good value for large families

What a great place to stay! When you choose economy you don't always know what you will get. Hee the rooms were clean and comfortable, there was good service, and the complimentary breakfast was more than satisfying.

Extremely clean

We were traveling late and had planned to stop and stay at Strathmore, but pressed on to our destination of Red Deer arriving at 2:30am. We stopped at another hotel that boasted $59.00 rooms but when we went in to book those were all sold out and they only had $79.00 rooms. I had seen the reviews for South Hill Motor Inn and decided to move on and try there because I was irritated by the ‘false promise’ of the budget motel. We were pleasantly greeted even though it was so late. I had trouble getting the pin on my credit card to work so was happy when she took my number and let me pay by debit. We were told where to park to be aligned under our window which we appreciated. Our door was opened and light and furnace turned on and shown the way in. That was the extra mile I felt. The bed was so wonderful..very comfortable, nice sheets too. ( I can’t sleep on any old bed and hate cheap scratchy sheets!)The room was immaculately clean which means the world to me. The bathroom was gleaming. We fell asleep and got a good rest. When we left in the morning our hostess was handy to the breakfast room and said make sure to grab a coffee at the very least. We had a nice visit and took some fruit and muffins as we had a puppy to pick up and ten hour drive back home ahead of us. Our room was $69. If I’m ever back in Red Deer I’d stay again. Why? Because it exceeds many hotels that cost nearly double that price. Why waste money that you can spend elsewhere. Highly recommended by us!!

Travelling late into the night and needed a place to sleep a few hours and didn’t want to break the bank

I so enjoyed my stay at this motel- and I've travelled a lot! My room was super clean, the bed was super comfortable, the thermostat kicked in right away and the noise level wasn't too bad. The owner of the motel was very kind and the continental breakfast hit the spot. If ever I'm in Red Deer again, this will be my place to stay because the price is reasonable and it met my needs. A very comfortable stay overall- would highly recommend!

Lovely Stay and Very Kind Owner

Was looking for a last minute place to crash for the night on our way through town.  This is a no frills location but for the price it more than met our needs.  It is not fancy or extravagant but the room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was not bad and the price was great.  If you just need a clean place to sleep this will easily meet your needs.
