Kokane International Farmhouse

This is our second year here and we will definitely be back in the years to come.The cabins are clean and cozy. All the people who work here are super friendly and helpful. There are paddle boards and a kayak that are free for use. Minutes away by foot is a convenient store and an ice cream hut. The kids spent hours on the beach and in the lake. It is located between Vernon and Kelowna, an easy drive to either place.

Great place to go

The pictures of the one and two bedroom rooms on their website are not the rooms you get. Very dirty and dated. Booked for four nights. The well for their " resort" is bad. There is a sign posted by the District of lake country right outside the entrance to this obviously run down and unkept motel. It says the water may contain pathogens and to use hand sanitizer after you wash your hands. After one minute of running the shower the room that clearly had paint right over mold stunk like rotten eggs. It was bad enough to gag. We packed up and decided to leave. The owner "Dave" would not refund us three nights, was in complete denial about the water and the sign. He was rude and totally unprofessional. I was willing to take the 580$ loss and book elsewhere as I could not let my kids stay in such a disgusting place. Thank you expedia for refunding our last three nights and allowing us to continue what is left of our vacation. Expedia awesome! Kokanee beach resort FAIL! Do yourself a favor and avoid this dump.

We should have believed the previous poor reviews. This place is run down and was a bad experience. Front desk never open just a sign with a phone number. Room was open with key inside upon arrival. Well water advisory in place(see photo); note to disinfect hands after washing them!! Dead bugs behind portable heater. Filthy oven looks like a health concern. Cobwebs on ceiling and around windows inside room. Outside unkept. Dirty BBQ area. This place has the same rates as clean and well managed accommodations. This place needs an inspection by the authorities.

Awful.

Absolutely filthy.  Major warning to anyone not familiar with this property.  Arrived with my elderly mother and checked her into her room while we set up in our RV on a thoroughly neglected and disgusting spot.  Found my mother had to clean her room with towels and Oxy spray. Towels were black with dirt. 81 and on her hands and knees!  Spaghetti sauce inside oven everywhere.  Dead bugs. Back Balcony was a sewer to a creek! So gross. Beach is in really sad shape. Years of neglect.  Addressed our concerns with the owner as my mom paid top dollar, he was belligerent and arrogant.  Has other multi million dollar properties elsewhere.  He offered $20 credit until I mentioned the BC Health Authority, then rescinded his offer.  Annual renters clean their units themselves, I’m told.  They know the conditions are terrible and instructed me not to swim near the creek out front.  No curtains in bedroom.  Garbage bags worked.  Can’t open patio doors due to critters, bugs, and view of sewer creek. 

Deceived! 

We booked this place through Hotels.com. It is classified as a 2 stars motel. We had planned to stay only for two days and it looked appealing because it is right on the lake which we thought it would be good for the kids. The place is absolutely disgusting! Broken lights, broken doors, dirty floors and linen, rusty garden chairs, poor customer care, sketchy WiFi. It is completely falling apart. As soon as we walked in the room we asked if we could have our stay shortened and have the second night refunded. The owner had no intention of giving us our money back (“why would I do that?! You would not give me a good review anyway and I would make no money!” he admitted). We were on the phone with Hotel.com for nearly one hour. They could do nothing to persuade him to give us a partial refund and offered a Hotel.com $150 voucher instead - $50 less than what we paid for the night. We ended up leaving early. Better cutting the holiday short than staying in this rabbit hole! Substandard and uncceptable. Don’t come here and try to avoid using Hotel.com!!

Stay away from this horrible place!!!!

I made a reservation on Hotels.com on June 25th for 6 nights starting August 4th at the Kokanee Beach Resort. I amended the reservation via Hotels.com on July 19th to 3 nights starting August 4th. I received a phone call from Hotels.com at 7:00 am THIS MORNING (August 3rd) to let me know the Kokanee Beach Resort was OVERBOOKED & they would have to find somewhere else for us to stay! It's the LONG WEEKEND, in the middle of summer, there isn't much available! We had a two bedroom "suite" booked with a kitchen for my spouse, myself and our boys. Of the VERY LIMITED OPTIONS between Vernon and Osoyoos, the best one is a room with one queen bed, a double sofa bed and a "kitchenette" (mini fridge and microwave), plus free breakfast. Seriously?!?! Now we have to share one room with our 10 and 13 year old boys?! They have to sleep on a sofa bed? We have nowhere to cook lunch & dinner so now we need to pay to eat in restaurants?! The compensation we received from Hotels.com is that we still pay the same amount for the new place as we would have at Kokanee Beach Resort (the difference being covered by Hotels.com), plus after arguing with the person at Hotels.com for 45 MINUTES we were finally offered a $200 Canadian credit for a future Hotels.com booking. My spouse even called the Kokanee Beach Resort directly to ask them & they said we should be confirmed. Then Hotels.com contacted the resort & sure enough they're overbooked. Kokanee Beach Resort blames Hotels.com. We are NOT IMPRESSED with the Kokanee Beach Resort or Hotels.com for letting this happen. While we have been "compensated" somewhat, this is still not the type of accommodations we booked and we are still inconvenienced by this whole situation.
