Website claimed the room and bath had 2  fireplaces.  Technically correct, but since they were sealed, they were not WORKING fireplaces as we expected.  Worse was when other guests were noisy in the common room below our room at almost midnight.  I called the management to ask if there were no quiet hours and they told me I should go and confront these other guests myself. I declined. Eventually, the management thought better of that and sent someone but this was by far one of the most disappointing inns I have ever visited.

What a charming place.  The Inn is a perfect place to spend the night.  I enjoyed wandering around and looking at the historical pictures as well as the overall atmosphere of the inn.  I was lucky enough to have a king suite that including a turret area that was perfect to settle down and read.  I spent many hours there with my nose in a book and looking at the expansive view of Lunenburg harbor.  The whole room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable.  I definitely plan to visit again and would recommend to others as well.

Lovely place to stay

Great Value. Everything was as advertised. Beautiful rooms, view and location. Even our walking tour guide said it’s her favourite B&B in town. Very helpful and friendly owner. And if you like antiques you will like this place! Lots of character!

Great Stay!

The Boscawen Inn was the perfect place to spend a night in Lunenburg! The house and decorations are stunning—I felt royal. Judy made me feel extremely welcome. She  provided great recommendations as to where to eat, what to do. I can't wait to go back.

Loved everything about it

A beautiful mansion with charming host and excellent accommodations. We'd recommend room 205 with a perfect harbour view and antique fittings as the whole inn appeared to have. We were there in stormy weather and even with howling winds and rain outside there was never a quiver inside...solid as a rock. The location is fine for wandering downtown to explore.

The perfect 1800's restored hotel.

Felt Like we went back in time.  Enjoyed the ambience of the common areas. There was even live music.  A comfortable and cozy place to be.  quiet during the night. The service was excellent. And breakfast was enjoyable.

Beautiful night in an elegant old building.

Very clean and a perfect location to walk about Lunenburg. Off season Rates are excellent and the staff were very pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere of the 1888 building has been well preserved which is the reason we went to Lunenburg.

Great stay in Lunenburg.

A gorgeous Victorian Inn in the heart of Lunenburg. Steps to restaurants, park/bandstand across the street, and the Opera House. We stayed in a very large room with a king-sized bed, seating area to look at the view. The owner, Judy, was wonderful to deal with and made sure our stay was enjoyable. The outside deck with a beautiful view of the harbour is a perfect spot for a drink before going out for dinner.

In the heart of town

I want to start off on a high note! The atmosphere was great. The large deck outside really made us feel like we weren’t “stuck” in the Inn if we were on the property. I love the Victorian period and the Queen Anne style house was like we were transported back in time. (I love Lunenburg for this reason!) 

However, I found that the entire stay was of poor communication. 
Our reservation stated we had a check-in at 1pm, which I found odd since much places have 3pm check ins, but nonetheless it was actually a plus! When we arrived the door was locked and we had to call a number for someone to let us in. We were standing outside for 15 minutes until the manager came to let us in. Very poor organization.

Anyway, we were struck by the beauty of the place so we let it go, not the end of the world! Although, if we were travelling for a long period of time I can imagine people wanting to get up to there rooms and not wait outside with their luggage. 

We checked in and went to our rooms. Small room, but very clean and really appreciates the updated washroom. Very nice. The bed was extremely comfortable. The heat pump was like a gift from God, especially being on the third floor on a hot summer day! 

We even received a bottle of loc white wine, which we were taken back because we weren’t expecting anything. Whether this was just for us, or everyone received a welcome treat, it was great! Kudos on that!

After we were settled we went around the town, great day. Went to dinner at Beach Pea, and came back for a night cap at around 9 o’clock that evening. A couple came outside and we chatted and they were lovely. We talked for two hours! 

During this time, we were told there was no breakfast of any kind. We were a bit annoyed by that because we never had any communication regarding there would be no breakfast. (Apologies if it’s mentioned somewhere, however we were never directly told anything about the Inn.) I completely understand with COVID it makes it difficult, but even to go to the extra mile and have individually wrapped pastries or fruit cups would have been just fine. 

Also, that the door in our bed room leading to the outside was a fire escape door, and that guests would come through in the middle of the night of the fire alarm rang. (So don’t sleep in your birthday suit if you’re in a room with fire exits!) 

In general it wasn’t a horrible stay, however it would be nice to be informed of everything when you check in. If Hotels can do it and Inns/B&Bs can do it as well. 



Poor Communication

Stayed at the Boscawen Inn for three nights.  What a beautiful place with beautiful rooms. The inn's manage Elyse was absolutely lovely and so accommodating and the owners Judy and Jon went above and beyond for us, and were so incredibly helpful.
I can't wait to go back to Lunenburg and stay at the Boscawen Inn.
