Lytton

My friend and I stopped for a night in Lytton. We were on a 2 day motorcycle tour. It was a covenient place to stop, easy access for the bikes. Its an old place, yes, but very clean and well kept. It was quiet, set back off the main street ( but I think Lytton is quiet anyways, except for the trains that go thru town) and had a nice sitting area out the back.The managers were friendly and accomodating and I felt it was good value for our money.  I would stay there again and would recommend it to others.

Definitely more of a historical place, Lytton BC is just off the Trans Canada Hwy. We came into Lytton from Lillooet, on a great, scenic, twisty highway 12. Just for a stopover, the Totem is ok. Fair rates for this older motel. Just a block from Main Street restaurants. Parking for motorbike is right in front of the little cabin. Good for the one night.

The receptionist was nice and trying to be helpful.

I didn't have any problems with cleanliness.  The out-dated but slightly charming cabin seemed sufficiently clean. (Note: I am not a clean freak!)

The towels in the bathroom with the semi-functioning shower head were fabulously thick and fluffy ;-)

The bed was THE MOST COMFORTABLE bed I have slept in during 3 months sleeping in hotels.

My big issue was with the quality of the WiFi in the rooms.   I don't think the router/ internet installations can handle this many users.  Wifi disconnects every 5 minutes and after that takes another 5 minutes to reconnect to it's former not very fast speed. 

I'm not tech-savvy in that area, but maybe several routers could fix that problem?

Too bad, if not for the Wifi issue, I would have considered booking here again on my way back....

Hard to review:  some things are fabulous, other things are really annoying

My daughter and I had a pleasant stay here and a peaceful nights sleep!  This motel is clean and very well cared for. The gentleman we checked in with was friendly and kind. The bed was a firm, comfortable mattress and the pillows were new and perfectly supportive. Being up above the river, it was quiet and picturesque. We enjoyed reclining in the chairs our back from our unit, listening to the river and day train as they passed by. 

Lytton is a sweet little town with very nice people and everything one could ask for.

Beautiful, peaceful spot!

The Totem offers clean, basic accommodation at a very affordable price.  While the property is in need of some TLC, it is clean and it is apparent that the current owners are investing in the property (e.g. new roofs on several cabins).  The main home dates to 1912, while the cabins likely date to the 1930s or 1940s. The cabin I was in was actually quite spacious with a queen bed in the main room and then two twins in a separate room.  My only 'complaint' is that the owners are using some sort of "air freshener" which I found way to strong and it impeded my sleep.  The property itself, on a cliff above the river, is quite lovely and I really enjoyed sitting outside, at a picnic table, on a sunny, warm afternoon, reading my book, as it was incredibly peaceful and the landscape is beautiful.

Basic Accommodation; Friendly Service

Neat and clean for the most part.  Bathroom sink needed a good cleaning around the down spout. Otherwise, shower was great, bed was comfortable. Adequate kitchen.
Train goes by every ten minutes. . .would bother a light sleeper. Public pool near by.

We arrived on our motorcycle after a magnificent ride up through BC from Seattle. The little cottage that awaited us was charming. Looks like it has been freshly painted and everything was extremely clean and neat. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We ate a homemade Chinese dinner at the Lytton Hotel and drank some Canadian beer. Coming here is like stepping back in time. The townspeople are very friendly and helpful. The trains roll through and the sound reverberates through the mountains
We walked to the grocery store and purchased a few cold beers to take to the expansive yard on the motel grounds. We sat in Adirondak chairs high above the Fraser River that snakes through the canyon and the huge mountains! It was a peaceful view watching a rainstorm roll through the mountain canyons!

If you are looking for a 5 star place, this may not qualify in your book, but in mine, it fit the bill entirely!

The Motel is OK, with small cabins that really need some attention. Pretty worn out and battered interiors.  The nice part was the expansive lawn that overlooks the Fraser River, with lawn chairs and picnic tables.  Not too expensive. However, there is absolutely nothing in Lytton.  The only decent restaurant seems to close at 6 (Possibly the only restaurant period), so if you are looking to spend an evening in Lytton and experience it's cuisine, you can forget it.  The hotel proprietor seemed to really get annoyed when we asked for some ice. (No Ice Machine). Wi Fi didn't work.   I won't be back. No point in staying here.

Clean rooms (we had two separate rooms with a double bed and once two single beds, TV only in one room). Free Wi-Fi, but very slow. We paid about 140 CAD for one night - that's way too expensive.

Overpriced standard motel

One of the few accommodations in Lytton, near the confluence of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers, with microwave and refrigerator in the double cabin half well equipped, unfortunately no WiFi included! Cleanliness inefficient!
