Very nice house by the river. Beautiful living room corner equipped with kitchen chairs, river terrace, fully equipped kitchen. Mona's dream breakfast. Nice room with superb bathroom. If you're big on the first one you'll have to be careful but it's very good!

Our best stop in six weeks of travel.

La Maison du Matelot is a great quiet place to stay along the petit discharge of the Saguenay river. The rooms and beds are great and the common area is very well set up for guests to relax, watch TV and there is a large kitchen Island for doing other work. Two small refrigerators are setup for guests use. It's only a 20-30 minute pretty walk along the river to the many restaurants and cafes in downtown Alma. The staff was especially very helpful in providing dining ideas and guidance on local attractions. 

A fully cooked breakfast with a rotating set menu is provided.

A Great Stay by the River

We had a very nice stay at La Maison du Matelot. The B&B is located right on the river so there’s a lovely view from the large common area/living room and deck. It’s a few minutes walk from town, but that meant that it was peaceful and quiet at night. Our room was small but very clean, cheerful and nicely decorated. And the common room was very large and pleasant. There are 2 refrigerators available for guest food. The breakfast said “continental” but it included a hot, freshly made egg and cheese sandwich and plentiful amounts of other things so it seemed like a full, hot breakfast to us. Rare that you get more than advertised! The cook/server was very friendly and nice, as were the other guests we shared breakfast with, so it made it a very nice experience.

Very nice stay

The place by the lake is very beautiful! welcome and kindness +++. our room overlooked the kitchen and the common living room, so we woke up early and felt a lack of privacy.

A little disappointed but nice place

We were 4 cyclists to book at the dock residence (condo next to the cottage). It was hot (August 8, 2018) The air conditioning was faulty, it was 30 in the condo!! We asked if it was possible to get a small compensation, nothing to do!

It was a night but luxurious.The house is by the lake, it is a large house with very comfortable and new rooms.The breakfast made at the moment by the lady.There are not many restaurants in the area, so we shop at a super and cook there with all kinds of amenities.

This is excellent!

The living room and the kitchen/dining room are remarkable, not to mention the terrace or the good sipping room.

Splendid B&B by a small marina

The B&B was a bit unusual but it provided a comfortable stay. The house is run as an independent business and therefore there is not charge person at the  building. We were not prepared and arriving in the dark and in the rain it took a few minutes to work out the registration. Once done, the reception was helpful. All rooms had access to a nice sitting area and a deck overlooking the water. Our room was well appointed but on the smallish side. A woman comes in the early morning to cook and the breakfast was exceptional. All in all it provided a nice place to stay in the Lac St Jean area.

A nice comfortable stay

We didn't actually stay here, for several reasons, but one of them was that the property is not like what's shown in the photos.  There was a tiny lakefront with 2 chairs, but no place to walk at all - the location is suburban, surrounded by townhouses.  Too far to walk to town, nowhere to walk along the lake.  I called to cancel (due to other circumstances) too late for a refund, but when I checked the bill, they had not only charged us for the one night we'd missed, but also two more!  I pointed out the error, and they eventually did refund the charge.  Not only was there no apology or accommodation for the hassle their error caused us, but, because of the change in the exchange rate from the US dollar to the Canadian one, their error wound up costing us several dollars.  If that's an indication of the way they treat customers, I'd be careful to check all charges on a bill.

wonderful place. beautiful location and scenery. the staff were absolutely amazing! Catered to all our needs and went above and beyond. the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. There was a storage shed for our bikes. Highly recommend to stay here
