We had a suboptimal start at the “Clockmaker’s Inn”: If you arrive after 4 pm all staff will be gone, so you are left on your own (note to the owner: you never get a second chance to make a first impression). The mansion itself is historic (late 1800s), with lots of artefacts. Yet there isn’t enough attention to detail to overcome some tiredness of the building, so on the night of our arrival we felt a bit like in grandaunt’s haunted house instead of paying guests: room had several (!) spider webs, dust, hair on the bed linen, and a slightly mouldy smell from the A/C, no water bottles nor paper tissues available. However, free coffee was available in the hallway. That said, we were served good breakfast in the morning and it was a joy to finally meet the staff and owners!

We really adore historic buildings, and they absolutely do not need to be renovated to today’s standards, but they should be very clean, and wear & tear i.e. patina can be countered by some understated luxury. Speaking of latter: For some reason the Inn is advertised as 4* B&B, yet a 2* Superior/3* would be a more accurate to set expectations. If you go, make sure to arrive before 4 in the afternoon and don’t expect a “boutique B&B” standard…

Note: There is nothing of interest in walkable distance. However, a couple of restaurants belonging to the owners are a 5-minute drive away – they serve good food and a 15% voucher is available at the Inn.

Spectacular!  Cannot  wait  to visit again. Reasonably  priced... 
Karen has loved working on the property  and  it shows! She's  definitely  knows the history.  When restoring the property every  detail  was thought about thoroughly. We will visit again...  and try to stay in new room every  visit. 

Birthday  Weekend Sucess

We were literally the first guests of the season and stayed on the coldest night of the year - the coldest night in years. The place was impeccably clean - all three floors. It is visually stunning; beautifully appointed. The room was warm despite -40C outside. The bed and bed linens were of the finest sort - I love staying at properties where they care about your night’s sleep and not just visual appearances.  We stayed two nights and the bed was heavenly. 

Owners were cheery, responsive, informative, highly respectful of our privacy. It was a flawless stay; strongly recommended.

Beautiful furnishings, great cotton sheets and comfy beds, nice big bath, good full breakfasts, entertaining hosts… stayed in the Halliburton suite but all the rooms looked good. Lots of stairs so mobility issues could be a problem. Had a lovely meal at ‘The Hole In The Wall‘ ten minutes away. Wish we’d booked for several days instead of just one!

Delightful place to stay

We stayed in the Fundy Suite which is a beautiful apartment like suite located on the third floor of this historic inn. Getting to the third floor allows you to see the gorgeous woodwork, inlaid floors, and stained glass window on the second floor. The Fundy Suite is large and has a sitting room, kitchenette, full bathroom, and bedroom. It was a hot summer day when we arrived and the AC and ceiling fans were already on in anticipation of our arrival. We appreciated the cool clean suite. The bed was super comfortable as well.
We enjoyed our tasty breakfast by the window and our conversation with Karen who is so knowledgeable about the property. 
While visiting Windsor, Avondale Sky winery is not far away and is worth the drive to taste some beautiful wines and to have lunch.

The Fundy Suite

We had the privilege of spending a night at the Clockmaker Inn last week. To say we were happy with the experience is an understatement. What an amazing property ! The host Rick is a gem. Breakfast the next morning was fabulous. We will definitely be back.

Booked the Haliburton Suite, its like a little apartment . Innkeepers and house keeper friendly and delicious breakfast as well!  Well worth a stay here you won't leave disappointed. Very clean and well kept!!! :)

The innkeepers (Rick and Debbie) of this wonderfully-maintained historic residence are excellent hosts. The antiques throughout are beautiful and charming and add so much character to the vintage interior. Several breakfast choices were offered and the food was well-prepared and delicious. Rick is an amusing host with many interesting stories to relate.

Well worth a visit!

Absolutely loved the Inn. From the quick and friendly check-in with the owner, the tour of the beautiful historic home complete with stories of it's very interesting history,the relaxing ambiance of the common areas, the comfortable, beautifully decorated room, to the delicious full breakfast, with several choices, this Inn ranks with the best we have stayed in, Anywhere in the World  !!!

Birthday getaway

For my wife's birthday we stayed overnight in the Kings suite. The largest suite with jet tub tub, kitchenette with microwave and fridge. The Clockmakers Inn is about 130 years old. It is tastefully decorated with period furniture and rich in history. The innkeepers, Rick and Debbie are extraordinary hosts who make one feel welcome and at home. The breakfast provided was large and very tasty. We would definitely recommend the Clockmakers Inn!
