We really enjoyed our stay at the Rideau Inn.  Lucie, our host was very attentive and accomondating to our needs and wants!  We stayed in both the one bedroom w/ bathroom and a one bedroom with a bathroom/shower down the hall.  Both worked fine.  Generally the neighbourhood was very quiet, and lots of eating establishments close by.  The location was very good, with easy walking to Parliament (20 min.).  The continental breakfast was just perfect to start the day.  Would highly recommend.

Great Stay at The Rideau Inn

Awesome BnB. Wonderful staff. Great communication, very welcoming check in. I was allowed to check-in at 1pm - that's rare in hospitality, and it's fantastic!!! If you have a small vehicle the $10 parking is worth it (small tight parking lot, so be mentally prepared to take it slow and carefully as you park). The location is outstanding. Walking distance to bars, restaurants, cafes, shops, and all sorts of other attractions. It's in a really nice and safe neighbourhood. The value is great. Some rooms have ensuite bathroom, others don't, so be sure to pick the room that suits your style. The common areas are really nice. Note: the fridge is in the common area. Extremely clean and well maintained. I visit Ottawa about twice a year, this is going to be my go-to overnight accommodation from now on. This is an official bed and breakfast, not a "shady ghost airbnb hotel" that takes away housing stock from Ottawa locals. I encourage you to support this hard working and genuine small business!

Well deserved 5 stars!

My husband and I and his brother booked two rooms at the Rideau Inn. It was an extremely good value, convenient to almost everything Ottawa has to offer. This is a beautifully maintained older home that is spotlessly clean. We had rooms with en suite bathrooms. Each room is different. We made ample use of the lovely common areas to plan our excursions. Lucie, our host, was super helpful when we had questions. The self serve continental breakfast included croissants, muffins, toast, cereal, fruit, hard boiled eggs, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice, real creamer and more. This was an excellent experience and we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when next we visit Ottawa. P.S. the annual Tulip Festival is great!

Excellent, extremely clean and friendly!

I loved my quaint and spacious room and the location of Rideau Inn, right next to the hotspots on Elgin Street and only a 20-minute walk from Parliament Hill!
The bathroom was not located in the room I stayed in, but out in the hallway, which didn't bother me in the slightest. 
Some rooms do come with private bathrooms located inside the room, but I got a hidden gem with a larger room that had a ton of character. 
The bathroom wasn't huge, but it had everything a bathroom needs with great water pressure and heat.  
The bed was made daily, thanks to Lucie and the bathroom stocked with fresh towels.
There is also a fresh breakfast available every morning for only $2.
If you want a modern facility, then this is not the right place for you... but if you like old world charm and character... like I do... then you will enjoy the Rideau Inn.

Old world charm in a great location

Super clean and comfortable ancestral home. The floors are noisy, but the beauty of this bnb is worth it. The dining area is very well thought out. The administration is super friendly too. The only thing that's not really like it is that I couldn't let my two lovely noisy children discover this beautiful place. If I go back to Ottawa, I'll volunteer to stay there.

Best BNB ever!

My fiance and I wanted to visit ottawa and found this place last minute. The location was near a skate rental shop, the canal rideau, the nature museum and near plenty of dining options and bars. The house is a heritage home so it's definitely old, but in an authentic way.  The check-in process was very efficient and the host was informative and very nice! (Lindsay was her name) our room was clean. The washrooms are shared but kept VERY tidy. The kitchen downstairs was awesome - stocked with breakfast items, coffee, tea, juice, etc. I think that for the money, this is a good deal. Only thing.... the noise from the creaking wood floors. Bring headphones or earbuds and you will be just fine.

Good value for money, clean, central location

The location is great and the inn is charming. 

But it wasn't very clean. The bed sheets and towels had some faint stains.

The breakfast was not so good. Nothing cooked, nothing homemade. Only stuff that's towards the cheaply stuff.

The soundproofing in this inn is nonexistent! If you're a light sleeper it's terrible!

Not worth the price 

This B&B is in a fab location - just off Elgin St with a load of bars and restaurants and close to the Rideau Canal. Lucie, the host, is an extremely pleasant and helpful lady - the room was fine - a bit odd to have the, fairly compact, shower in the bedroom - but it all worked fine - and the serve yourself, continental, breakfast was good.

Charming B&B in a great location

Stayed 2 nights here.  Had room with bathroom in room which is worth it.  Paid for parking in back, very tight to get between houses but I have SUV and it fit.  Bed was comfortable, room pretty spacious.  Everything is clean.  Breakfast is self serve.  Hard boiled eggs for protein, rest is carbs...toast, muffins, croissants, cereals.  There is yogurt and almond milk.  Location is walking distance to everything.

Comfortable stay

We stayed one night at this inn. It is very comfortable. In fact, the mattress on our bed was perfect. The breakfast which is continental is simple but sufficient. The best thing was that at the end of the street is The Manx, our favourite pub anywhere.
