I came on holiday for two nights in an upstairs room. I dared to say in my commentary that the road is noisy even at night. It didn't please the owner who insulted me by saying poor little rodent and mean people, poor little French people and I'm passing. This man seemed nice to us the time we stayed though. He has two faces. Warning to future travelers: I'll be wary of it.

Dual-faced owner

Dear travelers, at the risk of being totally dissonant from the other very positive reviews about this establishment here is our (sad) experience: We spent one night in a couple with our 16-year-old daughter in room number one on the first floor: 1 double bed (120 cm sic!), 1 single bed, no TV, no air conditioning. For information, there is no sound insulation between the staircase and the three rooms on the second floor. So when you are sleeping and a room occupies one of the stairs, you really feel like you are going to get into the room number one: 1 double bed (120 cm sic!), 1 single bed, no TV, no air conditioning. Terrible bedside manner and not as friendly as it sounds...

Jean-Francois gave us a ton of information about the area and little advice, even helped us book our trip across the St Laurent with his personal computer, the room is a little old but clean, breakfast was royal with cookies made by the housekeeper, we enjoyed ourselves, to recommend without hesitation.

A friendly and authentic step

Jean-Francois and Lucie were great hosts with many helpful hints for watching whales and restaurants. The homemade breakfast (choice of waffles or English breakfast) was absolutely amazing! Thanks for everything!

Perfect location for whale watching tours

The reception is warm, the room was very cozy, and in the morning we were served a delicious breakfast, the owners are very available and very good advice, thank you for your kindness.

Warm from start to finish

We were very welcomed and treated very well, J.F. and his wife are fabulous people, available for any request. The room was very clean and spacious, we had the outdoor bathroom, which we knew, but it was right in front of our door, so even at night, we had a dividing tent and so on, we left the bathroom door open.

It's really beautiful!

We arrived before the scheduled time but they hurried to prepare the room; after giving us the information about the case Mr. Jean-François checked the availability of the first whale sighting cruise and booked it for us; the next day he gave us all the necessary information for the visit to Tadoussac and the fjord of Saguenay; the morning of departure we arrived early at 6.30 to take the bathroom. The only downside to the place is that for a first try in a hostel, they set the bar indelible for the following hostels. The owners Jean-François and Lucie do everything to make our stay the most enjoyable. Breakfast is mega-comfortable and gives a choice that I've never seen even in some big hotel chains. I was at the angels.
