This establishment is really beautiful. Super welcoming. Large clean rooms that are comfortable and very well equipped. Daniel, the owner of the establishment, offers a refined and excellent kitchen. An address to visit is imperative. We had a very good stay.

A wonderful address

We had the "Le Barachois" room with a view of the river estuary and its saltwater wetlands (the "barachois"). The room is large, with local artwork (including one by host Daniel) and has a private bathroom. There is a balcony accessible from the staircase with very few bugs, a great place to relax in the afternoon. The breakfasts were superb! Omelettes, quiche, waffles and pancakes, never twice the same, always with fresh fruit and homemade jam and bread (Daniel keeps a small orchard behind the house and bakes his own bread in a wood hearth). The location is easy to find from autoroute 132. If you follow the road further, you get to the Port-Daniel nature preserve. The log house itself was custom made to have higher ceilings and more windows than you would expect from a typical log home. Daniel is a treasure trove of local information, places to see (many at no cost). The checkboxes below don't do it justice: for $100/night it was "budget", but in amenities, it was "luxury" -- Keep in mind, it's a B&B, not a fancy hotel.

It's a spacious room with individual SdB in a natural environment, away from road traffic but most of this establishment is the very elaborate dinner and served by the warm dining room owner recommended breakfast is the same vein

The original house of lourds where we slept very well. But the real surprise was in our plates. We didn't think we could taste such a refined kitchen in the middle of nowhere. Think about bringing your bottle of wine if you drink it because Daniel doesn't have a license. Not only was the dinner an unexpected refinement for this lost place but what about breakfast! As refined as the dinner the night before, in several delicious dishes. The guests are absolutely charming and Daniel, the cook and host, loves to talk about his country (and ours too). If you're in the area, this stop is a must.

It's a dream!

Reserved at the last minute (the same day), we were pleasantly surprised to find this little corner of paradise there. The room was spacious and very clean with private bathroom (shower/toilet). We arrived late and left early, so only had the chance to have breakfast (included) with our passionate host.

It's a memorable one!

It's a very nice place, very warm thanks to the kindness, talent and friendliness of Daniel, the host of this gîte located in front of a beautiful barrachois. We spent two nice nights there even though the rain made its nights... Generous and original breakfasts.....and we recommend the guest table in the evening because Daniel invents a very original kitchen full of new flavors....The room and its adjacent bathroom were very large...just a hiccup: we didn't find the right button to brighten the bathroom with colors!!!

It's all right!

The Gite La Conche Saint-Martin is a cozy log structure placed along a quiet road alongside the marshes of Port Daniel. It is just a km or so from the main road, but in a world of piece and quiet. There are two rooms for guests, and a carefully tailored local menu for dinner. We came for the food, and were not disappointed. Each season, the owner and chef sets a menu based on local sources. We started with a mixture of sea food (for one) and game with cranberies (for the other). We kept the division with lobster in ginger sauce and venison with wild choke-cherries. In other words, very distinctive and carefully designed to support local producers and reduce impact on the environment. The owner is specifically working on future menus to explore the sustainable fishing industry (not the traditional fish). He built his own old-style oven that bakes great bread; he is planting argouissier bushes for his own very local production on what is family land. This is a small operation, and will require reservations in advance.
