The house is pleasant with a very comfortable main room and a very spacious bathroom. Richard's attention is excellent. Breakfast is very limited and coffee should be prepared yourself. It is a little far from downtown Vancouver or the cruise pier, and you need 45 to 60 minutes to get there.

Perfect for a couple of nights.

Harmony House is advertised as a Guest House but it's really a mix of B & B, Home Stay and Guest House as it has a bit of them all.  Basically, you get a clean and comfortable room in a big family home but rarely see the Chinese family who live there.

The family are very helpful and my ensuite room (that I suspect is the master bedroom) was very comfortable.  I am glad I chose the ensuite room as I prefer not sharing a bathroom with strangers.  It also meant that once home for the night, I was self contained and could just relax in my large comfortable space.  I stayed for 5 nights and would stay there again.

Harmony House is an easy 15 minute walk to the local train station which is the end of the Canada line.  The other end is Waterfront Station and that's the heart of the tourist area, where you'll find the tourist information centre, cruise terminals, all the tour buses and the hop on and hop off bus.  Waterfront Station is also an easy walk to China Town, Gas Town, the Aquarium and Stanley Park.

I went there straight from a cruise ship and was able to drop my back at the house many hours before check-in time.  My flight home was a very late night one and again I was able to check out and leave my bag at the house until it was time to go.  This left me free to explore Vancouver for my final day.  The owner will take you to the airport for $20 and I found that very helpful.

WiFi in the house is fast and reliable.
Breakfast is included but it is very basic.  If you are a big eater you may find it inadequate.
The local shopping centre is across the road from the train station
There are many good places to eat within walking distance of the house.



Comfortable and convenient

This is a residential home where the owner has decided to rent out rooms. Parking in on the street. Our room was advertised as a Queen with a fold out sofa but was a queen with a futon like bed (not a sofa pull-out). There was a winding set of steps to climb and it was warm. Linda said we could sleep with the windows open. Not possible, unless you don't mind a street light shining in and traffic noise. At our request, she brought us a fan. One cheap towel and wash cloth for each of us. "Breakfast" was generic frosted flakes and cheerios, bread in the refrigerator and make-your-own coffee. On the plus side, it was easy to get to from BC99

Should be advertised as "PRIVATE HOME WITH ROOMS TO RENT" NOT as a  B&B

I know: breakfast was not ideal - you did feel as if you were encroaching in a private home but you get used to it and I'm sure that's not the intended impression.
BUT on the plus side: very near the sky train and Steveston.
Rooms MUCH bigger and more comfortable that in the normal 'airport hotels' in Richmond: and cheaper. It was evident that the family has moved out of their rooms to accommodate guests for the summer but that's legitimate (and trendy).
Peter and his mother are very friendly and helpful  We stayed there for 3 days - went away with a RV for a fortnight - and then stayed again for 4  days.  Would do it again -  exactly so and we've been in B&B's,  4/5 star hotels , hostels all over the globe.  When we came back from our RV tour and back to Harmony House we were made very welcome. Yes, would go again.

I enjoyed my stay....

This is in a residential area. No sign in front of this building. It can be difficult to find. 

This Chinese owner is friendly. Linda gave us some useful information about Richmond area, shopping and eating. The breakfast is very simple and it's in self-service style. You will go to the kitchen, open the refrigerator, put the bread in the toaster, brew the coffee, and put the dirty dishes in the sink. Some people might not know about this and expect MORE like real B and Breakfast (real big breakfast and warm chat with the owner). I stayed in another hotel (a real hotel) in Richmond and the hotel price is more expensive than Harmony House. The breakfast is pretty much the same---self serviced, bread, coffee and milk. If you are someone who think breakfast is a big thing, you should consider staying somewhere else. 

Overall, this is a nice house and would recommend TripAdvisor friends to stay here.

Comfortable Stay

Me and my brother stayed there for 6 nights. We had a wonderful time. The room was very big with your own big bathroom. Everything was clean. The bed is also big enough. Skytrain is 15min by walk and take a taxi to downtown cost around 32 Dollars. Linda and her son were still very helpful. We absolutely recommend this place. It worth the money and you will have a harmoniously time!
