The decor, the comfort, the feeling of being at home... what more can we ask for! I highly recommend! In addition, a great deal of attention to our old dog: the difficulty with the steps... they thought of it before us! Thank you 🥰

That's perfect!

Outside the building is nice, it has private parking and is located on a walkway with restaurants and shops. Breakfast was not included in our booking but then they still provided us with the coffee machine and a fruit juice, always better than nothing. The positive factors end here, because for the rest I didn't work well for anything and I can't recommend the structure. I had booked with booking a room with two beds queen which, in the conditions of booking, we should have even had a footfall.

Weight

Richard, the owner, is super friendly and accommodating. For our stay, we had the 2nd floor completely for ourselves while there are 3 rooms in total in the inn. The restaurant next to the inn offers excellent terroir cuisine - everything was good!!

It's a lovely old-fashioned inn.

First off, check in is a bit confusing - you have to go to the restaurant immediately next door to check in, the signage isn't clear - and we read/speak French.  The parking lot is the gravel one across the street, which is shared with the aforementioned restaurant.  We had the Mr. James room and while quite spacious, it has some odd design choices - the headboard of the bed is actually like a fireplace mantle (I'd imagine you could hit your head on it getting up if you aren't careful), there aren't any bedside tables, there is a freestanding tub in the corner of the room (I guess it's next to the fireplace so it would be nice in the winter?)  There are plenty of windows, but they are all street level at the front of the house and facing the restaurant side so I kept the blinds drawn for privacy.  Breakfast was in a takeout box in the fridge in the kitchen and contained one bottle each of apple/orange juice, two croissants,  two muffins, and two coffee pods.  The croissants especially were rock hard cold but there is a microwave  to warm them up.  As the owners said as a response to one of the reviews, it's better than nothing for the price :)  In summary it felt like a bed and breakfast (especially since it's a heritage house), light on the breakfast, and without any attention from the owners.  

Fine for a night, a bit odd

Our room named Mr. James at this bed & breakfast was absolutely perfect!
The room was very quaint and had everything we needed. The kitchen had a Keurig where we could brew our coffee and our continental breakfast was in the fridge with our name on it. It contained our two Keurig pods, juice, muffins and two croissants.
The kitchen had a full fridge where we could store  some of our food, and also we refroze our ice packs. The cupboards had dishes, cups and glasses. 
The bathroom was stocked with towels, shampoo and soap. The water pressure in the new shower was awesome!
The bed was very comfortable. There was a t.v. and bar fridge in the suite.
We would highly recommend this Bed & Breakfast!!

Trip out East to the Cabot Trail

We have mixed feelings about the Auberge. First, the people are really very nice and helpful, the room was clean but a bit shabby. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The bed itself was very comfortable. The breakfast was not very good: cold boxed food and Keurig coffee maker without instructions. This is especially sad, considering the auberge is connected with a brilliant restaurant next door: the Saint-Patrice. Wonderful food, service and drinks including cocktails and wine. The crème brûlée was maybe the best we ever enjoyed. Overall a great place to stay, especially if you have dinner.

Eat at their restaurant!

We were taken care of by Elisabeth following a problem with a reservation we had with another accommodation at RDL. She gave us the only room she had left, which was Big George to take care of us. Very good lunch and caring staff. We slept very well and I can't tell you how grateful we are for what they did for us when we were discouraged and retired returning to Montreal in the evening. When we return to Riviere du Loup the Mr James Hostel and the St. Patrice restaurant will be the first places we think of going. If I could put more than 5 stars I will. I recommend everyone stay at the Mr James and St. Patrice's.

What a lovely hostel.

I had the basement room, huge, clean, beautiful, furnishings and furnishings from the old days, very good taste, kitchen available and breakfast in the morning, real grocery and good coffee.

Wow.

It's a super beautiful old building with a restaurant next door, a large, well-decorated room with a beautiful stone bathroom, all equipped and very well-insulated despite the road, and for breakfast, everything is put in the kitchen fridge on the ground floor and stuffed with a nice amount of good food. Really nice.

That's great.

We enjoyed the end of the season but the Mr James suite which is amazing in size and look (the other rooms are probably different) The location of the hotel by its ease of access The most is the restaurant St Patrice next door (the same house) which is worth the stay alone.
