My husband and I stayed at this beautiful B&B in mid October 2021. Our lives were torn apart from the passing of our youngest daughter to cancer just a little while before that and needed a nice place to go and have a stress free break.  We arrived very late from Vancouver and were greeted by the nephew of the owners. He was so nice showed us around the main floor of the house and took our bags up to our room on the top floor. The room was huge with a queen bed that had premium bedding and was such a luxury to get into after a long day sightseeing. The bathroom was huge with a big soaker tub that would easily allow for a tall person to stretch out in. The room was sparking clean and very comfortable. We met Janet and Garry the next morning at breakfast. They were both very nice and such gracious hosts. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. Janet went out of her way to make sure everything was tasting good. Everyday was something different and there was always fresh preserves, cheese, home baking, fruit and a main dish. The coffee was excellent. I loved the beautiful mugs and attention to detail in the set up of the table. The house itself is gorgeous and very well preserved. Janet and Garry were very helpful in telling us about the area around St. Johns and distances to places. We were only there for 4 nights so didn't have a bunch of time to see all we wanted to. We should have done our research better to book our holiday earlier say in September when the tourist season is wrapping up. Having gone in mid October, we found many of the shops in the smaller communities closed for the off season. We made the best of it and visited the small communities anyway which were very beautiful and made for excellent picture taking. I would highly recommend this beautiful B&B to anyone wanting to go to St. John's. We would love to go back when we get the chance again.

We stayed for two nights and had a very enjoyable experience.
This is a beautifully restored home and we were very comfortable.
Our hosts were helpful and friendly and breakfast was excellent!
Parking pass was provided.

Lovely Stay at Wit's Inn

We stayed two nights and had a great experience in room 4.  Beautifully restored home from the 1890's with modern bathroom,  Comfortable bed.  Sitting area with dormer window.  You need to be able to climb stairs - especially our room which was on the 3rd floor.  No air conditioning but a good, quiet fan made the room comfortable for sleeping.  Great continental breakfast with fresh pastries and homemade jam.  Boiled eggs and cheese for protein.  About a 10 minute walk to the downtown core.  Complimentary on street parking pass provided by the property.

Historic B & B Close to Downtown

We spent 3 evenings at this b&b. Setting was close to many attractions. Breakfast was excellent and varied each day. Room was clean, beds comfortable. We felt Janet, James, Gary had thought of everything we might need in a room and it was provide.

Very nice accomodation and good brekfast very helpful staff and very comfortable rooms. Highly recommended! Stayed there for two nights.

Excellent B&B

Lovely family-run operation with generous breakfast and beautiful room. Lovingly restored townhouse walking distance to just about everywhere. Staff was terrific, very knowledgeable about local history and do's and don'ts in town. Bring slippers.

St. John's gem

My husband and I recently stayed at Wits Inn and loved our time there.  James was very welcoming and full of good information about the area,  The breakfasts were excellent and the little kitchen off the dining room had lots of extras for guests like a variety of teas and microwave popcorn.  James graciously told us to take some breakfast items(fruit, cheese and pastries) for snacks during our day of site seeing.  A great b&b.

Great location, beautiful rooms

My wife and I stay in B&Bs whenever and wherever we can, and we have stayed in many. At Wit's Inn (love the name!) stands out as one of the nicest B&Bs we've ever stayed in. We were here for two nights, and our hosts, James and Janet, could not have been more welcoming. The location was ideal, mere minutes walk from downtown St. John's. We were given a parking pass to leave our car close by, so no worry about the limited parking time available on the street. James directed us to the best walking trails on Signal Hill, not to mention the best coffee in town (The Battery Cafe). The room was inviting and comfortable. There was a cozy, help-yourself "butler's room" for tea and coffee. And to top it off, perhaps the best, most delicious and varied breakfast you'll ever have in a B&B, both mornings of our stay. And when we inadvertently left town with our front door and room keys, Janet was very understanding and asked us not to rush to return them, which we did a short time later when we were back in town. Thanks, James and Janet, for your wonderful hospitality.

Superb B&B, excellent location, amazing breakfast, wonderful service

We enjoyed the three days in Room 2 at the beginning of our well-rounded two-week tour. We had chosen the room beforehand, as it was the largest. The facilities are extensive, the service is very friendly and unobtrusive. There was ample opportunity to get tips from the kind hosts for the days in St. John's and surrounding areas. Very advantageous is also the parking strip right in front of the house, for which you get a parking permit. The breakfast was varied and very tasty. In a small kitchen you can make yourself a little more, coffee or the cooking drinks. From the street you can use cars in the morning and at night, but not to breakfast.

The perfect start to a newfoundland journey

Can you recommend the B&B? We stayed 3 nights in room 2. This one is very big. Both the room itself and the bathroom. The house is very lovingly decorated overall. The hosts are nice and friendly. They even provided us with an extra balance so that we could weigh our suitcases for the flight. The breakfast is very tasty, varied and rich. The crêpe with fruit last morning was one of the highlights for us. Only a few drops of nausea. Since our room went out to the street and the house is at a crossroads, it wasn't quite quiet. However, there is not much traffic in St. John's, which was ok. But we were from Newfoundland, which is a quiet place, but it is nice:-)
