Nice B&B but hosts are not onsite. And seem a little jaded by tourists and the community.
I would think there are better B&B's to stay at where the hosts are local and appreciate the area. Look for local owners that like their community.

Adequate

We've been in Cape Breton for almost a month, and all the time we've had our rooms at the Marina Cove Inn. The rooms are very well equipped and comfortable. We can confirm everything in the description of the inn. Each room has its own name and is very tasteful and individually furnished. Everything was also wonderfully clean. The location is quiet, but you can also get to everything on foot, shopping facilities, banks, restaurants, sports studios. Also the location at Cape Breton is very central. You can visit every point on the island with a day trip and everything in peace.

Top rooms - good location

Here we are in the tiny village of St. Peter's Nova Scotia for the night.  Our reservations were obtained due to the kindness of one of the staff from a Nova Scotia tourist information location.  She made all the telephone calls for us and set everything up.  This place is part of the MacDonald County Inn located a few doors down on the same street in St. Peter's.  We slept in the Marina Cove and had breakfast over at the MacDonald County Inn.  Our room was on the ground floor and had our own bathroom with a shower.  There is a nice communal kitchen and lounge room for use of the guests.  Everything was clean and well maintained.

NICE OLDER RENOVATED HOME

The moment we drove up to this property, it was suspicious of being 4 star, my first comment to my Husband was....look the garden is very untidy. We were greeted with a note on the door to telephone a number to check in. The lounge looked ok, the TV was tiny smaller than my first portable I had in the 70's. We booked a queen bed, then we were asked if we wanted 2 beds, we said no, our booking was a queen, we were then taken out the back door to a separate room away from the main house, the backyard was disgusting, the weeds were at least 1 metre tall. The bed was a box bed, with a foam mattress only 4 inches thick, over lapping the bed frame. I told the owner this is not a four star hotel. This B&B owner needs to be made accountable for false advertising, Her B&B people skills also needs to be checked. I hope that no one else falls for this false rated accommodation. Shame, looking at some of the other reviews, I am not sure why their rating suggests that it is good. If this B&B was rated 2 star then I would not have had a problem with it.

Claims to be 4 Star

We found the Marina Cove Inn with friends on the way. It's very nice, very close to the marina. The owner Beate welcomed us very kindly and showed us all the rooms that were available. Each room has its own note and style. We could hardly decide, but I found Sparky's Room the best. Everything was totally clean and lovingly furnished. With our friends and other guests, we could still sit comfortably together in the common rooms, as everything we needed was there. Even a great beach basket on the terrace. We got a super piece in the nearby hotel that really tasted great in the morning. Tripate has gotten us a long way to go with the staff at our next stop.

Cozy house in a nice atmosphere

My wife and I stayed here for two nights during the Celtic Colours Music Festival in October.  The house and room were spic and span.  We had an opening window and wi-fi, two comfortable beds and a nice private bathroom.   Breakfast was provided at our host's other property a few doors down the street in the pleasant dining room of another inn.  It was fantastic, as was the dinner we ate there.  There's somebody special in this kitchen. Lots of chat with the other guests here, as we like to do at B&Bs. Price was the best of our 21 day trip to NS.  We will be back; already missing the German apple pancakes, yoghurt, OJ, and coffee.  Thanks to Beate, our friendly host.

Nice digs and great food

We stayed at the Marina Cove in the Calder room, which is located behind the house with private access, clean, lunch somewhere else, not friendly, not luxurious, but okay, the photos don't represent reality.

I'm good.

We're very disappointed that we're staying at this bed and breakfast. We recommend going to Badeck, which is much better equipped. The photos don't really reflect the actual location. You have to pay as soon as you get into the building without even seeing the room. Breakfast is always scrambled eggs and bacon with Kraft jams. Not really what we were expecting.

A disappointing stay

My husband and I stayed here one night and found it to be a very nice lodging. We used the phone to contact the owner and she came immediately to show us around and chat about the area. The well furnished room had everything we needed with some nice touches like shelving in the bathroom and a hair-dryer and wi-fi. There was even a refrigerator and microwave for guest use in the downstairs gathering room.The bedding was very comfortable and clean. With the breakfast included in the rate we thought this was a great bargain in lodging.

Lovely B&B bargain

The young German/Canadian couple are doing their best to make the stay impeccable; settled by CB; I was at St. Peter's in early August 2011.This bed&breakfast is easy to find; the small town centre is nearby for dining in a restaurant or shopping.The breakfast is plentiful but healthy and balanced! Next to the canal,which links the Atlantic to Bras d'Or Lake, there is a small historical museum.A tour of Madame Island is worth the trip along the coast of this peaceful and green peninsula.To get back to Halifax Airport you have to drive 3 1/2 hours.I recommend starting from Cabotest by the Champetic Trail or the Champetic direction.
