Stratford

The property is in a great location, just a block away from the Main Street - Ontario Street, in Stratford. The area is lovely and close to many restaurants. The room was very clean and probably one of the most spacious rooms I’ve ever had. I especially loved the big windows that provided wonderful natural light. It was the perfect space to end a busy day.
A note about the host - Melissa was super nice to work with. She’s very quick to respond and was very helpful in making our stay a positive experience.

A lovely stay in downtown Stratford, Ontario

We just stayed overnight in the fireplace and jacuzzi suite.  The room was very spacious, the beds were very comfortable and it was extremely clean.  I had an issue with the jacuzzi, and when I texted housekeeping they helped me with the issue right away which was appreciated.  Great view of downtown. The fireplace was beautiful and the complimentary snack tray was appreciated. Coffees and teas are provided with a coffee maker and kettle.  There is a mini-fridge, wine glasses and cups. Will definitely be back.  Can’t wait until you get the restaurant open. Thank you. 

Fabtastic

My 6 sisters and I stayed here lat weekend for our annual get- together.  This year I chose Stratford.
I booked us 2 rooms. The restaurant is under reno but we knew that going in so that wasn't a problem. 
You have to go to another restaurant (also an Inn) to get the keys.  When I went there I walked around looking for help and was pretty much brushed off by a server there as 'they are very busy and prioritizing the food rush' but 'will get the manager and it might be a long wait'. 5 seconds later another server simply pointed me to the front desk. Not sure why the first one didn't say that instead of making me feel like I was in the way.  Not my fault check-in time clashes with their busy time. 
Other than that a few notes; the entrance and stairs can use reno, they advertise microwave but it's a communal one in the hallway, the ice machine had no ice, my sister dropped something under the bed and regretfully noticed it was not clean. On a plus side, beds were clean and comfy and the Inn was walking distance to the theatre, shopping and the river.

Family reunion

The hotel is under renovation.  I think that the plan is to create a boutique hotel....it’s not there yet. 

The problems:

1.   no staff at the hotel for check in or guest support.  You must go across the alley to a bar to register.  During bar closure hours, there is no one available to help guests if a problem arises.  A phone number left in the room to contact someone for assistance does not work.
2. Some towels are threadbare and ripped when used;  pillows are lumpy and too small for a king size bed.
3.  General maintenance is being neglected: shower faucet buttons hard to work; handle from sink faucet fell off; fireplace would not work.
4. Very difficult to adjust heat or coolness to an appropriate comfort level.
5.  Parking was a BIG problem.

On the positive side:

1. Rooms are very spacious 
2. Bed was very comfortable 
3. Location was perfect

Not a Boutique Hotel

We enjoyed 5 nights here while seeing productions at the Stratford Festival. Some TripAdvisor reviews mentioned problems about the check-in - we did not have any problems having been informed by the hotel to check in at Bentley's Restaurant located behind the Annex. This is a small hotel with large comfortable rooms. We would stay here again.

Good location

Just meh! Mediocre food, mediocre service, high price for portions. We won’t be back! It was not worth it! 

4 of us had dinner and for it to be a local cook fresh venue it was no different than eating Applebee’s!

Dinner

Downtown location, steps to Avon and Studio theatres and restaurants. Pain in the behind to register at Bentley's pub at the front of the restaurant, especially if arriving between 4 and 7 pm when they are busy.
Big jetted tub, gas fireplace. Mini fridge, kettle and coffee maker. I really appreciate the separate kettle. Hate making tea through a coffee maker, I call it teafee. Tea and cofee supplied with packets of sugar and powdered whitener. 2 bottles of water. Yay, because Stratford tap water tastes funny.
Double glazed windows makes it surprisingly quiet for downtown.
No elevator.
T.V. worked this visit and internet wasn't as slow this time.
Only complaint is parking. I arrived at 4:30 and there were no spots in the free parking lot behind the hotel.

Spacious rooms

Room was surprisingly large.  Bed was quite comfortable and the building is exceptionally quiet.  Stairway leading to the rooms has a noticeable odor from restaurant below.  We would rte this higher BUT the interaction with front desk person during check in and check out was dismal.  It's a shame when an overall positive experience is spoiled because of the last thing you remember (checking-out).  Grumpy people should not be employed where they interact with customers.  Eye-rolling and facial expressions are quite telling as to what a person is thinking.  We will look for an alternative place next time we come to town.

Very large room and very quiet

I would give this a 4.5.  Our room was large -- with two queen beds and a small frig.  The bathroom was large as well.  Parking was included -- and the Inn is right in the middle of the town:  two blocks from the Studio and Avon Theaters.  The only two downfalls are no elevator.  So if you have an issue with stairs, this place is not for you.  It would also be nice to have one of the small ice makers on each floor.
