It was a long day for me and I arrived at the hostel past 9pm. But the guy checked me in real quick and he even held the door for me to take my bike in and after seeing me struggling carrying my bike up the stairs, he lifted it off of me and took it inside the living room. The guy was the chillest and the most helpful staff I’ve ever had on my bike trip across Canada. He made my day after having a flat tire, riding in the dark and arriving at 10pm. He let me use the kitchen late at night. The hostel offers great value. I was the only one in the dorm. There is a sink in the female dorm. I also like the little messages in the toilet about conserving water. The hostel is just a few minutes ride to the stores. I would definitely stay here again if I’m back for a visit.

It's just perfect!

Located right in the centre of Trois-Rivières, the Hostel is a very good choice for those who want to stay in this city without spending too much.

A nice stop.

I recently stayed at this hostel in Trois-Rivieres and it was a good experience. The hostel is centrally located, only 5 minutes walk from the main street. 

The hostel was smaller than average, but there was plenty of communal space to relax in. The kitchen, dorm and bathrooms were clean and tidy. Unfortunately there was no air conditioning, so it was rather hit in the afternoons. Security could have been better, sometimes the front door was not locked at night. Equally, there were only locks on the private room doors and no lockers available in the dorm room. 

That said, I had a good stay in this hostel and would recommend if your looking for a stop off between Quebec City and Montreal.

Great place to stay 

Went there for a 2-day show and I didn't regret it. The place is very clean, well organized and you have access to appliances, showers, computer, board games and more that I didn't have the time to use.

Great location, restaurants, shops and everything you may wish for within a couple minutes of walking.

Had a great time with the other guests and even made friends, it contributed to the great experience.

The only thing that could be worked on is that I felt there wasn't enough explanations in the beginning, like where to find some useful things such as toilet paper, who to call if there's an emergency. The receptionist is only there between specific hours so you get on your own pretty quickly. We had to search around for certain things but it's not that bad, you don't feel like you shouldn't. Also we didn't get a key to our room while some other rooms did.

Even so, it was a great experience overall, and a cheap one. I would definitely return for my next trip in the area. 

Feels like home

Really great! first experience in a hostel, but not the last! people are very helpful, they've been more than welcoming, friendly, really amazing! showers are in the basement, but there's a bathroom upstairs, so it's perfect:) really good!

It's a beautiful youth hostel.

I spent two nights at the Auberge internationale de Trois-Rivières during the Labor Day weekend. Smack down in the middle of downtown, within walking distance of the waterfront, Old Trois-Rivières, and all the popular bars and restaurants, you just can't beat the location!

The hostel only has 4 parking spots, but parking on the street in front of the building is free from 5:00pm to 9:30am. It's also free during the weekend. So it's just a question of timing your arrival and departure if you are driving there.

I chose the city to be relatively close to the beautiful parc national de la Mauricie. If you don't have your own Parks Canada annual pass, they have a couple that they lend to guests so that they don't have to pay the park's entrance fee. Which is great for travelers who want to discover this awesome national park!

Regarding the place, yes it's in an "older" building. But other than some creaking floors and the fact that it takes a while for the hot water to get warm, there were no issues worth mentioning. The hostel features a charming and welcoming living room with couches and a projector where guests can relax and mingle. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a nice outside terrace where you can hang out and chill out. Bikes are also available.

Showers and toilets are indeed limited, but it's just a question of timing when you want to take a shower. It was never a problem for me.

I was in the male 8-bed dorm. It's a spacious room with a high ceiling. There are fans for when it gets warm. The only problem is that there are no lockers in the room. There are small ones in the basement, but I'd much prefer to be able to put my valuables in a safe place inside the dorm I sleep in. Other than that, each bed has its own reading lamp and there are enough power outlets for everyone.

The staff is outstanding! So welcoming and knowedgeable and happy to share tips and answer all our questions. These friendly girls really make a difference and the reason why that hostel is so well-run. They definitely helped me make the most of my time in town. Don't forget to ask them about discounts for guests.

I didn't expect Trois-Rivières to be this charming and I'll certainly be returning at some point. And when I do, the Auberge internationale de Trois-Rivières will undoubtedly be the place where I'll be staying! =)

Just one caveat, though. Before booking, make sure to inquire about whether or not Ron is staying in the room you want to book. He's an old and retired man who is some kind of permanent resident and who might be homeless, as he travels with about 3 suitcases and plenty of bags. He drinks all day and rarely leaves the hostel. His stuff is spread all around his bed and he acts as though he owns the dorm. Never really talks, just grunts at people. Long story short, this man is a veritable cancer inside a dorm. He never changed clothes the three days I was there and I only saw him take a shower once. He screamed like a lunatic at someone else at like 3:00am one night and clearly has no regard for the other guests staying in the room with him. When I officially complained at the reception, I was told that I wasn't the first one to do so. The manager was supposedly giving him his last chance and moving him to another room, but I'm afraid that there is no place for such a toxic person in a hostel. All hostels, the more so with HI properties, should be places where travelers from all over the world can socialize and open up. It should be about sharing and cultural exchanges. Hostels are not places where senior hobos can bunk down and make everyone around them feel uncomfortable. This Ron guy should definitely be banned from the hostel. . .

Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

Nice hostel in the heart of Trois-Rivières

We stayed on our way through on our way to Quebec City.  We weren't sure what we were going to find and were pleasantly surprised.  The hosts were friendly and there were many opportunities to practice our French if so desired.  The rooms were small but good enough for the evening.  The location is nice and quiet and there is lots of parking on the street.  If needing a place to stay once again, would definitely return.

Great Deal

If the reception was friendly and tidy (a 6-bedroom as a family room at a price that defies all competition ), we were disappointed by this Aj: not super-maintained terrace (a little dirty even ), showers and basement toilets (one toilet only on the ground floor ), badly-made beds, torn curtains.. in short not a great souvenir even if the reception was nice.. an address that we would not recommend!

We've known a lot better...

Located on the Quebec-Montreal axis, the staff is nice, the establishment is simple but clean, the price is right 32CAN TTC for a night in a dormitory... For an evening stage (because the city is not full of activities or other things to do), I say why not!-)
