The hostel is great, the room was clean and even though it was shared no one put me in the house during my stay. The hostel food is great, especially the. Soup de tallarines. The only thing I don't like is that it is hard to find and the Callejón where it is located is very poorly lit.

It's a good hostel, but very hidden.

This is a pretty laid back hutong-style hostel - with rooms that open out into a center courtyard. It's got a nice funky vibe. I got myself a private room and it suited my needs just fine. They serve food and have beer and the guy who runs the place is very helpful (even helping me mail a postcard home). If you're looking for some affordable and basic accommodations close to the Forbidden City and other Beijing attractions, this place is perfect.

Great Hutong Hostel

Great location inside a hutong and walking distance to jingshan park and forbidden city. 

Staff are very friendly and provide great advice on things to do, including daily suggested itineraries and tours and scams to avoid.  

Great location, helpful staff

Okay, if you like the usual hotel type accommodation stop reading now. This place is sort of a hybrid hotel hostel.  Its location is excellent within walking distance of Tiananmen Square and a number of other sites. It is also within the Hutong or narrow alleyway area. Therefore taxis can't drop you at the door and you have to walk a couple of hundred metres down alleyways to get there. Once through the red front door you go down a hall and enter the central courtyard. This has a roof and is where you dine, watch TV, and socialize with other guests.  Individual rooms are off this central area with their own ensuites.
This is an excellent place to experience life in the Beijing Hutongs.  Ricky the manager hands out great guides to local sites, available tours and cafes, and the food they can provide is not bad either. Ricky if you read this, don't forget to make sure you look after the pet turtle.

Can't really fault this place - a three-night stay in a private room right beside Jingyuan Park, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City for less than €120 total. And it's in a quiet, relaxed hutong, the old laneway-style housing a lot of which was destroyed in the recent past. I reckon they could charge a bit more, freshen the place up and take on extra reception staff though; right now it's only Rick and Rachel and the strain is showing - take a holiday guys, and get a night porter! Would stay again though, the location and peace and quiet is fantastic for Beijing centre.

Fantastic location, calm environment.

We booked by booking, but when we arrived it was disappointing, the sheets were rotten and not changed during the days we were there, nor did they change our towels in the five days we were there. The dirty, trash-filled common areas would sell you a good clean one, the chairs have a shelf above them that are dirty you need to see the washing machine. The small rooms have no closet so there is no room for laundry. After all, the price is hotel but without the services of a hotel. Maybe it's fabulous for those who share a room that for the price of 10 and 13€ if it's economical and equals what it offers.

Disappointed

The best things are: - the personal attention is fantastic, they inform everything very well and give a mini guide to move around in Beijing that is super useful. - The interior space and the common courtyard is a treat, it is a very nice and relaxing shared space and is very well equipped with sofas, tables, fans...muy chulo. - The prices of drinks and breakfast are good. - The location is good, as far as it is very central. On the other hand: - One of the things you can call the accommodation is that it is in a very popular neighborhood known as Hutones. In our opinion the concept of chabo bar is an old bar that could be nice but less so this is a bar of fine houses that does not have any kind of neighbourhoods in the city - although it is considered a very expensive neighborhood in any city, it would be very convenient to look at a few minutes in the city center, and in the nearest neighbourhood of the city - although it would be very convenient to walk around the street, we will see a very nice bar that does not have any kind of neighbourhoods in the city, and in the

An option with advantages and disadvantages.

The hostel is located in the very center of Beijing. The rooms are simple, clean and purposefully furnished. The Forbidden City can be reached on foot. The attraction in the evening, the lake with many restaurants can be reached in a few minutes. Good Peking duck with dinner show. Fast all restaurants offer live music. The hotel is a bit difficult to find.

Simple hostel centrally located

The hotel is very nice, with characteristic finishes and all the comforts, although the rooms are simple and a little small. The staff is very kind and available. The excellent location: inside the Hutongs, you can easily walk to both the Forbidden City (about 20 minutes) and Qianhai Lake.
