We stayed one night in this house spontaneously because our house was burned down. Eduardo the host was very friendly and welcoming and very welcoming! The accommodation is Spartan in style. It must be said that there are almost algae lodgings on the island. We were very satisfied, especially if there was only a mattress and a mosquito net and no running water on the toilet.

Price performance fair

We stayed for 2 nights but only one of us stayed. we rented a room and although they didn't have a view of the sea, he gave us the worst he had (having a better, bigger and more comfortable one). there was a guy working for him, he never introduced him to us all the time. it was as if he didn't exist (denial) and he had him there in paradise without making a sound. the horrible beds actually broke down. no one recognized us for the price and then complained because we were charging less because we were booking more cobra luvas. turn off the lights at 11 o'clock and no work can be done on the beach until you stay there as long as you like in the other hostels. we played each other more and with more variety. no return to the hostel.

El Alex is parked!

The hostal is lovely and the staff are great, food is affordable but unfortunately the first night we had our backpacks robbed from our room with money and passports in. We were under the impression that there would be someone there all the time but when we got back to the hostal everything was dark. It was unfortunate as it could have been a good experience. Be careful with your belongings clearly there is a problem in the area with theft of tourist. 

Unfortunate experience 

Don Gabriel and the staff were very attentive, the place is very humble but has the basic facilities to stay, you can negotiate with them the value of the food and the type of food, they are attentive and are looking after your belongings, we stayed 2 nights, it is literally facing the sea and it is beautiful it is just steps from the beach.

When I arrived at the parche, I was surprised to find that the new administration only has huts and no camping area or to place a cottage.

There is no camping area.

We didn’t stay at the hostel but on a day trip arranged a bioluminescent boat trip with the hostel/the bar next door. The trip itself was fun and the plankton really glows when you swim, but as we were only in playa Blanca for the day had nowhere to leave our bags, assuming they would be safe on the boat while we swam (which they should be on an organised trip!), unfortunately when we checked our bags later after getting off the boat, we both had money missing ~$400,000 in total, luckily he didn’t take passports, phones or debit cards. Unfortunate ending to a good trip, sadly I don’t know how we could have avoided it other than swimming one at a time, or locks on our bags. 

Bioluminescent plankton trip - robbed

We had two bedrooms, one facing the sea and the other in the middle. the one that was in the middle couldn't sleep because of the smell of rot that came from behind where there was a place with water standing still overlooking the sea. one night we found a very large and fat rat. that night we slept on the beach and the other day I went to complain to Gabriel who was the very careful administrator who returned the money for the remaining nights. there is a Venezuelan boy who is very kind and the only one who worked. the employee who they tell him  El Paisa  is simply a charlatan. also another employee called who is a bad guy and I threatened to beat up my two friends because of Jose's call for the reintegro of money. no, I do not recommend this hotel, on the island with better deals and better deals for the same value.

Horrible and there are rats.

We stayed 4 nights, with 35,000 Colombians per person. You can sleep in hammocks or, as in our case, in the huts that are a bed and a mosquito net. It is one of the simplest hostels on the beach and as there is no running water or electricity on the island, they handle fresh water buckets for showers and bathrooms. In general, the attention was good, they worry that you will not steal anything (there are lockers) and that you will have water for bathing (special mention for Estik, very helpful). They prepare food if you ask, at the same price as the rest of the hostels/restaurants. Those who are employed, the owner (who is no longer Alex but someone who bought it) was no less than a few minutes during our stay.

Take into account where you are going.

He read the comments and I.produce a lot of surprise some bad ones, since I.quede a night in a hammock paying 3 usd and Alex very sociable offered me snorkel, kayak, table and drawer to keep things, the view is excellent and rich.comida, affordable prices.

Excellent location  Excellent location

My group had mixed feelings on Alex's place. He welcomed us right away for low rates: $15,000 pesos for the two camping, $70,000 pesos for the two of us in a cabaña ($35,000 each per night). We stayed two nights. The cabaña was cozy enough, up a ladder with a water basin to wash our feet at the bottom and a breezy open doorway. The mattress was comfortable –– my friend and I got a good taste of it when we were both knocked out for a day with 24-hour illness, no doubt from the lack of ability to wash our hands properly or shower for days. The water ran out at Alex's and he was a bit rude to my sick friend about this, but always kind to me. His temperament seemed to vary depending on when you caught him. He politely told me that there would be water to shower the next day, but we headed out at about 11 a.m. and it was still out. Water shortages are understandable on a remote island like this where tourism has recently exploded, but the rudeness was tough for us to stomach in the midst of a poisoning. Consider staying elsewhere, and regardless make sure to bring along hand sanitizer to Barú. And don't eat the fish.
