We stayed 6 nights at Casa Tranquilla. Our host Paul was very kind and available if we needed anything in particular. For those of us who are traveling without a car rental this little information might be useful to you. Casa Tranquilla is about 10 minutes' walk from Samara Beach, about 15 minutes from BuenaVista Beach and 20 minutes from Samara's main artery. There is a bakery and a mini market within 10 minutes' walk. Casa Tranquilla has two bikes with baskets left at our disposal to go to the beach, do the grocery store etc. We also have access to a common washing machine. The kitchen is and is located outside in a decorated and fenced garden, the refrigerated room has a very clean ventilated room, so we can observe a very nice, very quiet, very clean air conditioning area, and we have a very nice, very clean, very clean, very clean, very clean, and very clean space.

All I can say is that I have never been so warmly welcomed by a host on any of my other trips outside the U.S.! Arwen and Paul were incredibly professional throughout the process of booking and during our stay, but my group also felt like we were taken care of as friends! 

Having never traveled to Costa Rica, there was a lot I didn't know to expect. We could have skipped getting a rental car because they are a bit of a headache & expensive. Renting the bikes available at Casa Tranquila allowed us to really enjoy the Pura Vida attitude! The apartment feels very safe and the outdoor kitchen allowed us to take care of ourselves and truly experience Costa Rica outside the walls of a big resort. The town and beaches are close enough to walk, but taxis and cycling were often easier. 

I highly recommend visiting Samara & staying at Casa Tranquila!

You will fall in love with Casa Tranquila AND Samara!

We spent 5 nights over New Years with Paul and Arwen. Our hosts went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable especially for our 11-year old son who got his wish to go  deep sea fishing thanks to their help. They gave us tips on what to see and do around Samara: how to see the baby sea turtles being released from a hatchery and where to go to feed the crocodile.  The rooms are simple,clean and well kept with comfortable beds and fans and a well-equipped outdoor kitchen. The house is within walking distance to a secluded beach and, if you don't mind crossing a estuary - you can view the sea turtle hatchery about 40 minutes away. We would be happy to return.
