Firstly, the staff there are super nice. Very warm and friendly and welcoming. Super helpful.

Secondly, the place has a tonne of potential. The layout is good and it's in a nice location for accessing the beach. 

Unfortunately, the dorms need a lot of work. The mattresses look dirty and old and there is mould growing on the walls in the room. Bathrooms also need a reworking - old and not particularly clean. Though there are fans to help cool the rooms and circulate the air, the place either needs better ventilation through bigger windows, or needs air-con installed. As an alternative, dehumidifiers.

I stayed one night, but before I even went to bed had decided I was leaving. It's hard to get in/out of Nosara without a vehicle, and nothing else was available, or else I would have left straight away. It was that bad.

Whilst the location is good for beach access, there isn't a tonne that is close by, and walking Nosara is hot and dusty.

Disappointing and shabby

Lovely place to stay. Lots of 🦀 . Beach is walking distance.  Breakfast included with our promotion. Continental, pinto or pouched eggs. Swimming pool was warm but really nice. Comfy place. It has AC and a ceiling fan to keep the bedroom cool

Interesting architecture hotel

I have been staying here every year for the past 4 years.  It is simply the best. Every time I debate getting an air bnb or one of the more expensive hotels I always end up back at the nosara beach hostel.  Every time I stay here it is such and incredibly positive experience.  From the staff to the guests to the proximity to the beach it is unbeatable.  It has become my Costa Rican home and I can only hope that everyone passing through nosara might have a chance to experience this place.  It is wonderful.

The Only Place I Will Ever Stay In Nosara

i really really appreciated my 11 days at NBH.  Ms. D. and Sergio are extremely extremely helpful hosts.  Always friendly, always willing to step up and help you with small things that would otherwise be difficult in a foreign country.  The kitchen is huge, the garden is beautiful, and the beach is 200 meters away.  I cannot recommend both Dinia and Sergio enough, and highly recommend a stay here.

excellent staff, very good vibe, great kitchen

I was with a friend on a long trip to the hostel and unfortunately I have to say that I didn't like it very much. I was very excited about the hostel and was totally disappointed. Staff was very present at the time, but unfortunately more in a negative sense. We both felt like we were disturbing each other, were being taunted every day for little things because we allegedly didn't follow the rules of the hostel. Unfortunately, recommendations from the hostel could not always be relied on. Other services like bicycles or the like were not offered (supermarket is 15-20 minutes away). Very unfortunate that we didn't have a 10-star experience:

Expansion potential: price performance is not consistent!

The room for 3 is quite nice and the shared kitchen is very spacious.What is most worth the hostel is the people, especially Dinia, who cared for us like their daughters.

Don't hesitate to visit the Guiones!

From our first day here to our last my friend and I had such an amazing time. We met such fun people who also stayed in the hostel and the staff were always wonderful and kind to us. D does an amazing job taking care of everyone and everything around and making sure each person is having the best time and always feels safe and at home. We were very sad when we had to leave and could have easily stayed another week. Thank you Nosara Beach Hostel- we will be back!!

Best. Trip. Ever.

I spent around 4 months on and off at Nosara Beach Hostel. The place itself is great: the common area is huge, with comfortable couches and Netflix to watch, with a little library with books. The kitchen is huge with two cooking areas, plenty of fridges and a plethora or pans, pots and kitchen utensils, like microwave, oven, blenders, etc. The outside area is a garden full of trees, hammocks and areas to chill. Did I mention is just 2 minutes away from the beach? The rooms are nice and comfortable with a private bathroom each. Always clean and well maintained. Of course, these are all important features for a good hostel, but what really makes this place great is its people. The staff is simply amazing. Dinia, Sergio, Ninosca, Olger, Allan... you guys are all great and made me really feel home away from home. You have been my family in Costa Rica, always ready for a talk and a laugh, always happy to help.  You have made my experience unforgettable. Hands down the best hostel I have ever been!

The Nosara Beach Hostel is a beautiful, simple, casual hostel by the beach that offers a little bubble of peace. The hostel vibe was really pleasant and inclusive (other travellers) and the staff (Danny especially) was very helpful.
I was looking for a low cost, no frills way to enjoy Nosara, go surfing and do yoga, and found what I needed at the NBH. 
I am looking to come back here in the future... definitely.

Relaxing and peaceful place to stay

Super clean and well-maintained
The staff is sooooo friendly, all of them and they’re super helpful with booking what you’d like to book, insider tips for food and other services! 
The property itself is spacious with hammocks, outdoor seating areas!
Even free laundry once a week after you stay longer than 1 week!

Only like 3 mins walk from the beach - I loved loved loved this place!
