An ok hotel, arguably above average for the region but not quite up to Western standards I’d suggest. The regions style is like your Nans house in the 80’s, odd but seemingly the style in that area. The staff are friendly enough when you engage with them, although the staff go home in the afternoon so it can be difficult to get any form of assistance after 1700, although there is a number. It’s looking tired in places but the room was spacious enough. Internet was relatively ok although the tv doesn’t have many international channels. Breakfast was self serve continental, with a choice of tea or coffee. It has a free car park right outside which is good, there’s a bar/restaurant over the road although the staff there seem quite miserable but the food was ok. Forget the stigma, Estonia isn’t a cheap place to visit so at €350 for four nights it’s not cheap but about average. I’d stay again if I had to but to be honest I’d prefer to stay in a more modern hotel in Tallinn and travel.

Rakvere Estonia

We stayed one night in this hotel on our way to Tallinn. The rooms are nice and clean, located on the balcony, but the roof is a little too sloppy. Watch your head! However good accommodation and good breakfast. If you dine at the connected Art Café you have 15% discount and you eat well.

Discrete hotel

From the outside, the large wooden house does not cost a dime. The interior is completely renovated, even though the hallways smell like my grandmother's! Italian shower in the bathroom, room space optimized. The Art Café and a grill restaurant are opposite to restore, a pub 500m from the police museum to taste the local music (concerts in summer). Friendly staff and hotel well located. Tourist office 50m.

The price-quality ratio is unbeatable!

It's a small hotel close to the centre. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is clean. Everything is clean, but you can see that the hotel is old because of the marks on the ceiling, especially. The lunch is fine, no more because it's quite limited. On the other hand, avoid room number six at all costs. It's tiny. The reception has easily changed it to a bigger one.

Very simple hotel

Such a beautiful, peaceful hotel. Breakfast was good and diverse.
Nice staff, clean rooms, interesting design.
Romantic city and hotel, close to good bars and sights, such as rakvere castle and the bull statue.

Fairytale city and excellent hotel

Quiet, comfortable, friendly hotel in the centre of Rakvere. Great restaurants are within walking distance as are two grocery shops and the town centre. 
The 14 century castle ruins are a 10 minute walk behind the AQVA spa. 

Highly Recommended

We went to this hotel reception for check-in. There were nobody and was only a text at the door that we will call to one number. Then came the salesperson with a dog. She let her dog to walking freely at the room so I couldn’t go to the reception desk. My spouse reached there (before this dog was letting freely walk) and started to fill the check-in form. This dog was sitting next to me for a while and then came closer to me. I didn’t like that she will go very close and told that “don’t go there, I don’t want this”. Then girl from reception came and told me at impolite way that “you should tell at first when you came that you don’t like dogs!” I just admired !and didn’t told anything but thought - this is abnormal, the salesperson could ask at first from visitors does she can let her dog to go freely walk at this room??? I didn’t feel that we are very welcome at this hotel but thought- ok, maybe this is just one thing what we could pass. 
Then we went to our room and discovered that there was only towels for one person. My spouse called to reception number ad they give us another towel. So we were not very welcome second time. 
Later when we came back from town and wanted to go sleep we discovered that there were only one very narrow blanket. So one of us was should sleep without blanket and it seems the bed was also for one person. So third time when we feel that we were not welcome there. 
Disappointing and bad experience unfortunately. It seems they don’t like their guests and could behave politely. Don’t choose this hotel again. 


Unfriendly and disappointing unfortunately 

We got room number 10 which is very spacious, warm and cosy. 
There is a big and spacious bathroom. 
The only disappointment- no drinking water offered in the room.
There was no hair-dryer as well, but we got it downstairs at reception. 
Breakfast was various and tasty.


Highly recommend 

We stayed one night at Rakvere's Art Hotel and all in all our judgement is positive, but the impression is that the hotel is a little neglected and you could do much better. The room was certainly spacious and clean, as well as the bathroom. The location is also optimal, in the center, with large free parking available. The weak points in some details: the inner curtain to protect the sun was dirty; the refrigerator was only available in the hallway; the buffet breakfast was of mediocre quality.

This is it.

The room was very small: there was no closet for clothes, no air conditioning with a child, it was not comfortable. The breakfast was very poor. But the most shocking thing was the construction work practically under the windows from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. - sorry, it wasn't rest, it was the audio torture. The parking lot was also covered with construction work, I had to get out; and I had to move the car away, because a tractor started working near it. Of course, there was no word about that when booking.
