Summer Hotel Karelia-Park

Compared to a previous Summer Hotel, which was very cheap, this one has an elevator and good room service, as well as a small television. Full breakfast in the morning, large free parking; the hotel is about 2 km. and a half from the center where you can reach the city on the convenient pedestrian track or a few minutes by car.

Staying at the student home.

It's a public house used in the summer as a hotel. Hence all its features: it's more like a studio than a hotel room, with a kitchen area and a dining area. The big drawbacks are WiFi only in the lobby, there are no dishes in the rooms, although there's a plate and a fridge, and a pretty high price.

Social life

A modest hotel near Lappenranta. A quiet and beautiful place, a concert venue nearby - very convenient to stay for the night. Breakfast is off, kitchen is available, but the dishes must be taken on loan at the reception. Large free parking. We were at a large concert, crowded, but the room is quite quiet - that's a plus!

Right behind the hotel, there is a forest where the sonnets grow. Also nearby in the forest is a concert venue, it hosts rock festivals. In 10 minutes there is a beach on the lake of Saima.

Quiet summer hotel

The soundproofing room with the neighbouring rooms is good, but loud conversations from the hallway, unfortunately, are good. A very simple room. As we have written many times, it is a dormitory. There are a few students, a refrigerator, a sink  but there are no dishes in the room. There is a bathroom for one person. A bed without a wall, so it is not very convenient to lie down.

It's very simple.

The hotel is slightly out of the centre of Lappeenranta, about 30 minutes' walk away. In fact it is more of a passing hotel for those who want free room. The room was quiet, with single beds. It also had the kitchen, unfortunately in Finland the hotels equipped with kitchen have no kitchen utensils, nor decks, nor pots or anything else. The Wi-Fi is there but only in the lobby, nothing in the rooms. Breakfast is mostly salty, we can only have yogurt, cereals, bread, butter and marmalade. Attention that in the lobby you can't consume your own alcoholic beverages: we had a beer and they removed the little Wi-fi behind us without telling us anything. After 10 minutes that didn't work, I went to the cellular to ask if they had a connection and they went to the closet and they said, We can't have a lot of problems, because we didn't have a lot of coffee in the lobby, and we didn't even have a few minutes to explain it, and we didn't have a few minutes to ask them how they connected the

Economic, questionable staff working there

Bad hotel, to the limits of the human. Terrible hotel, poor cleaning, very uncomfortable beds, noisy at night, wifi only working in the common area, tremendous breakfast (fruit, bread, juice with water, cucumbers, eggs and margarine).

Absolutely to be avoided

The Karelia-park is certainly not a choice for services but for the price and the cost of the NS. The judgement is quite positive. We stopped for one night to rest after the flight, which ended in Lappeenranta rather late, and then left early the next morning. For short stops like the NS. the Karelia-park can be a good solution.

Economic policy

The summer hotel has rooms that are normally rented to students, but for the summer period they are used by tourists. Consequently the rooms have the kitchen with the oven, a practical furnishing, but they are devoid of pots and pans. We have not tried to ask the receptionist, but perhaps they can provide them if you need them. The receptionist staff is the only one that I have found a bit rude in all of Finland, but it is not very relevant. The apartments are distributed in very long corridors with inquet and a few roofs: for a tourist who stays for a night or two can go as well as a student to live there for a long time! However, the style of the building is generally clean. The location is quite comfortable for the area, but so essential advice for a night's accommodation.
