I needed to stay overnight in Keuruu and was left with little choice. I booked a twin room in the ”lomahotelli” annex for 70 euros.

The receptionist was quick and efficient, if perhaps not overly friendly. I received my key and found my way to the annex, built in the 1950s, about 250 meters from the main hotel building.

The room was small, shabby and incredibly worn-out. Renovated in the late 1980s, the room came with two narrow (90 cm) beds, a desk and a chair. The sheets seemed clean, the pillows must have been the thinnest in the world. There are no amenities, no safe etc, not even wifi. The curtains were flimsy and did nothing to keep the room dark at night. The room was also incredibly hot even if outside temperatures were in the high 10s (centigrade) – I can’t imagine how hot the room becomes in summer heat. There is, of course, no A/C. There was a narrow, mosquito-infested terrace with two plastic chairs and a great lake view.

The bathroom was cramped and featured an equally 1980s design. Water pressure in the shower was excellent and hot water ample.  No bathtub. The only amenity found in the bathroom was one wall-mounted soap container.

Breakfast is always included in the room rate. Served in the restaurant from 6:30 to 10 (weekends 8 to 10:30), it was a tired, basic affair. It did the job but was definitely not memorable in any way. Think scrambled eggs from powder, meatballs and sausage, basic cold cuts, toast, croissant, Karelian pastries, yoghurt, tomato, cucumber, watermelon. The smoothies were a positive surprise. In true Finnish way, they expect you to bring the dishes to a separate return station to be able to keep staffing at a minimum.

The restaurant also serves à la carte lunch and dinner, with last orders at 8:30 pm. Food was mediocre and incredibly expensive, but service was quick, efficient and friendly enough.

The hotel is located a ten-minute drive away from Keuruu village and enjoys a lakeside setting. There is a small beach as well as a 2 km nature trail leaving from the hotel, but beware of the mosquitoes – there are plenty.

While the two-star motel-style accommodation was good enough for a quick overnight stay, I cannot see myself spending any excess time here. The hotel was not worth the money, espeially if comparing to prices in Central Europe, however, in Finland, where the duopoly routinely charges three-figure prices for similar accommodation I suppose the price was okay.

Typical Finnish upcountry hotel, basic and modest

I first stayed at this hotel in Summer 2009. It's in a gorgeous remote lakeside location with fabulous views. This hotel is quite big and is made up of lots of different buildings. which are set aside from  the main building. The room I had was a pretty basic single room but had all the things I needed for my short stay. I returned to the hotel in 2018 for another short stay and I had virtually the same room. It was hot and there is no aircon, but the hotel has a limited supply of fans. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the staff very helpful. Overall, a lovely place to stay and met my need, I am sure I will return some time.

Excellent return after 10 years

Stayed here for a week, as part of the World Music Village.

The location is just perfect, right by the lake with great views.
Food was good and plentiful. They also made sure we had lots of cold water, since it was very hot.

As we were a large group we were in 2 different buildings - even though the other building was not far away, it would have been great to all be together in the main building - this year it was sunny and hot, but walking between the buildings in the rain would have been annoying.

Also the rooms are basic and need som TLC, in the week, we got new towels once - no new bed linnen, even though with the heat it would have been nice. Bring your own soap/shampoo.
There's a fridge in the room, but it was very old, and as the room was already extremely hot, I did not even plug the fridge in (would have meant more heat in the tiny room)
August was unbearable hot, and so was the room, I took several cold showers to fall asleep.
Also no wifi in rooms??! In 2018??

Lovely location

As kids we used to go for a swim to the beach there in the summer with grandparents. Now, I've stayed there for Christmas three or four times for family reasons in the last six years. The hotel has seen a change in the management, but not really in the overall atmosphere. It is firmly stuck in the decades past in terms of decoration and ambiance.

The main hotel building rooms are ok. The common spaces are as they were in 70s, 80s and 90s. The Lomahotelli, the original hotel of the complex, is about 200m away from the main building and it's very basic. 

For Christmas they charge a full-board package for three days and it's exorbitant if you don't plan to stay all the time there, but eat, say, with friends and family at their homes. Sadly in the region there is no other option. This is the only real hotel in the vicinity of Keuruu.

The nature around is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and calm. It is a pity that the all-year tourism does not provide sufficient funds for a complete overhaul of the hotel complex and related services. There is potential in the location, even if it is some 8km from the centre of Keuruu.

Only real choice in the area for Christmas - ok, but in need of improvement

The hotel is situated in a beautiful and peaceful location.
Stayed here for 5 nights in Lakeview superior room, the standard of room was ok/good.
 A colleague of mine had a standard room and this was poor. Old furniture, fixtures and fittings. 

Negatives about the hotel:
Breakfast not the best - limited choice
Hotel needs a major update. Even if they replaced some of the dates furniture in the rooms that would be a start. 
Restaurant closes fairly early.
No Wi-Fi in rooms

Positives:
Great location.
Excellent swiming pool and hot tub.
Good gym - could do with some more free weights.
Evening meals are very good
Plenty of parking.

Overall hotel is Ok, would stay again. Due to the size of the hotel I understand that updating it would be very costly but if ever the hotel was updated it could be fantastic.

Ok but could be great

Not many options in the area, this place is not chosen for it's style & quality.  The hotel is pretty run down and there has been very limited investment.  

The rooms are very poor.  Beds are very small, bathroom old and feels dirty.  No room cleaning over the weekend.

The hotel is on the side of a lake, with decent parking.

Breakfast is pretty poor.  The restaurant for dinner is actually ok, limited menu that doesn't change, but the food is OK.  On Monday they have dance night with live music which is an experience...

Still in the 60's

Keurusselka is a small hotel, a very picturesque neighbourhood on the shore of the lake Keurusselka, a real lake of Finland. The hotel building is hidden on the sidewalk among the tall pine trees. A small reception hall, a restaurant with large panoramic windows facing the lake. You can immediately see this memorable landscape of the visit card of this hotel - pine trees on the shore of the lake Keurusselka, and settle down for a holiday - the first ones to rest their eyes. In the bright rooms - a view of the windows on the pine trees and the lake shore, there are spas, and on the first floor there are a few balconies in the halls of the city - there are only three balconies in front of the square itself - every Thursday morning - a convenient place to get out of the car - there is no need to pass through the center of the park - but there was a signal to get out of the building, but in the center of the hotel there are plenty of restaurants and shops. There are plenty of shops and shops. There are plenty of shops in the city halls -

We stayed 4 nights during the Rally of Finland, unfortunately we practically only slept in this oasis of peace and rest, so my review is a bit limited. Very friendly staff, they speak very well English, the room reserved for us was very spacious, overlooking the wonderful lake! We also stopped one evening at the restaurant inside and ate well, at absolutely low prices.

Pleasant oasis of repose

The hotel complex with apartments and rooms lives by its unique location on the lake. On the contrary, the narrow, somewhat unoccupied room is a contrast. To emphasize is the extremely pleasant underfloor heating in the bathroom, unfortunately this also heats the room, when the window is open, the damaged flying chain then offers the mosquitoes an inlet. Otherwise everything is clean and functional. Staff also speak German and English, hotel guides mainly Finnish. Breakfast with good coffee, salty porridge, cereals, cheeses, sausages, cooked eggs, several broths, fish, cucumbers, Tomatoes, meatballs and salad drops.
