My friend and I spent three nights in the hotel. We were happy to find the room clean and spacious for two people. There were relatively good amenities/furnishing including a hair dryer, shampoo, soap, desk for writing and two armchairs. For a two star hotel, it was good and undoubtedly in a great location. However, we noticed right away that the Wifi didn't work from our room. My friend could bearly get a single bar, and my phone couldnt even find the signal to connect to the router. As we moved closer to the main building where the reception desk was located, the wifi signal became stronger. Therefore, we went to the reception to ask if we could move rooms, to be closer to the wifi signal. We were told no, and that this was just the way the wifi was, and that everyone in the hotel struggled with the wifi, and basically just to deal with it. We were shrugged off and couldn't do anything about it. Therefore, if you are travelling with limited phone data, be aware although it is in the hotel advertisement, there is basically no wifi. Be careful. 

Finally, I just have to say how unhelpful the person on reception was generally. We asked them about when we should get to the airport, and if they knew how busy the aiport gets (of course we know they cant give us an exact estimate, but they have some general local knowledge)... again we were met with shrugs and no help! Thankfully we figured it out ourselves. (FYI: dont worry about getting there super early ! The airport is tiny and most locals arrived about 30 mins before boarding!).

I'm not sure if I would stay here again, or recommend. 

You get less than you pay for.

This hotel has a good quality price ratio for the Aland Islands. It is in a good location and breakfast is discreet. Of course, don't expect to find sweets but if you are satisfied with the salad it is fine. The rooms are spacious even though they are spartan, the cleaning leaves a little to be desired. Seen from the outside it doesn't make a good impression, it would need a refurbishment. Very kind lady who welcomed us at check in, very nice. She always had a smile for us. Thank you.

Good value for money

This is a very modest hotel in the center of Mariehamn. Location is key. The breakfast was good and served in a windowless basement room. The hotel room was worn but nice and big with a balcony. Good for working. Affordable pricing. The minibar was empty but kept my own drinks nice and cold.

Cheap hotel in the center of the city

Booked Hotell Esplanad but got a message from them saying it's closed until 2021, so they transferred us to Hotel Cikada for the same price.

Centrally located, but closed until 2021

You could say that I really liked it in terms of the location in the center, the price and quality ratio. Yes, everything is quite budgetary. However, everything you need for this level of hotel is available. There is a balcony, a refrigerator, a big TV, a phone and even the bathroom fans. I enjoyed breakfast, despite the modesty of the exterior - everything is also in line with my wishes. If it's not a romantic trip, then it's the best option to stay in the center of Mariehamn.

A small hotel in the centre of Mariehamn

I chose this hotel, because it was centrally located. Free parking, but reserve the place early. The rooms are though very Basic, and there was a light smell in the bathroom. Nothing wrong with the bed, but I was needing a table with a chair to work with my laptop. The breakfast was rich, but the restaurant was very modest.

Centrally located, good breakfast, but...

This is a quite simple, but centrally located (what's not centrally located) hotel in Mariehamn, Åland. The staff was very friendly and the room spotless. Staying there lets you use the sauna and pool at their other hotel, Cikada, if you feel for it. The price is in the lower range and breakfast is included in the price. N.b. that the reception might not always be manned, but someone will be there within ten minutes of a phone call.

Don't judge a book by its cover...

We had reserved a room online with an idea to have room for two persons. Still something had went wrong and upon arrival we heard that the room for us is only for one person. However, the staff was really professional and friendly and solved this issue by adding a free extra bed in our room (all rooms were booked) . We stayed two nights at this place and despite the first reaction outside, this place was really cozy and had all that we needed for. The room was very clean and a big positive plus was that staff members in reception spoke Finnish fluently. A breakfast was also great at this price level and they had also gluten free bread available when asked. So all in all I will definitely recommend this place to stay!

A great place to stay

We were here in July 2018 with a larger travel group. We had booked beds for the delivery very shortly (on the day of arrival) and we were offered to convert single rooms by delivery beds into double rooms. The rooms were very simple and very cheaply equipped, but clean and basically still ok. Similar to the breakfast buffet: simple, but ok. The hotel failed however in the simple task of providing us with beds for the delivery beds. Also there was only one towel per room - although we were occupied with 2 people per room. When we returned to the hotel in the evening, in the hope that our rooms would finally be made, no one was doing anything else, there was no one else to make a reservation at which we could have booked ourselves. Reception is very cheap, but okay. The hotel also failed in the simple task of providing us with beds for the delivery beds. Also, there was only one towel per room - although we were occupied with 2 people per room. When we came back to the hotel, in the hope that our rooms would finally be made, there was no one left behind at which we could not make a reser

Cheap, unloving and poorly organized

The hotel is located in the very center of the city, 5 minutes by car from the ferry. It is easy to get to the ferry even on foot. The exterior of the hotel is not impressive. But the interior is well renovated, everything is very clean, the beds are comfortable, the pillows are very small, the new cabinet has been found. A large TV. In the room there is a private bathroom, very small, but with excellent sanitation. There is even a fan. Parking is free, small, but there was always a place for the car. Breakfast in the hotel is served on weekdays from 7.30 to 10.00, on Sunday from 8.00 to 10.00. For about 2 stars, it's just great (saussies, bacon, eggs, musk, yogurt, soups, 3 kinds, 3 kinds of fruit, cheese, butter, coffee, bread, cheese).
