We stayed with my girlfriend one evening and one night in the wooden hut up in the trees, which was a great experience! The huts were very clean and top quality. We enjoyed the superb, out-of-this-world, smoke sauna: never experienced anything like that, and as a Finn I have been to many kinds of saunas, also smoke saunas. The food was great: a Finnish steak made under ground with charcoal on it (+other buffet food). We also had some extra help we needed from the staff, and they did everything for us: the service was simply excellent! We will go back definitely. A big thank you!

Amazing place with suberb sauna, great food, and excellent service!

This magical smoke sauna is lit by candles when it is heated. There is fresh water stream running inside the sauna, which provides you a spot to cool down while bathing. There are cottages built into treetops nearby for enjoying as well.

Magical underground smoke sauna

We were here with our workteam to relax, prepare food and have a sauna. We had a really nice day,  cooking was fun and we managed to cook delicious dishes to eat after sauna. The sauna itself was an amazing atmospheric experience. Sitting inside the sauna in a rockpool watching all the candles on the walls was a great relaxing experience and I recommend it for all!

We visited this place in June, and it was just amazing! They had this Doors open day on the 20th of June, and we could see the holiday houses from inside and also visit their smoke sauna. And I have to say, that the smoke sauna was one of the most amazing things in a long time, it was like a mini spa, 
what a wonderfull experience! After smoke sauna we had some food in the Ritarisali, a nice restaurant hall that I could imagine to be perfect for small weddings.

Holiday houses are also beautifully decorated, with a country romantic touch! Definitely a place to visit and rent a holiday house, and maybe even a small cottage in the forest!
If you seek for something new, this is the place to go!

Amazing place

Gentle sounds from the stream crossing the pine forest, an atmospheric great hall/banquet hall, an amazing (but very dimly lit) smoke sauna inside a real granit cave and a spot in the sun on the timbre patio. Because we visited the forest village offseason in May, we had this all to ourselves! One night and we really didn't want to leave... 

The large Storfinnhova estate also hosts fancy old mansions and conference facilities, but we only visited the forest village, which I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking peace and simplicity! It's a very back to basics place, although very well maintained and clean. We arrived late after the staff had already left, but everything had been prepared for our arrival and they even called to make sure that all was in order! 

Cost for 2 persons, 1 night was 43 € including self-service breakfast.

Location
- Not accessible by public transport, cars can be parked a stonethrow away
- No services or commerce nearby (very rough guess: nearest restaurant 5-10 kilometres away?)
- Surrounded by robust pine wood, bird song, clean air and streaming water. Good paths for jogging or nature walks
- (While on Kemiönsaari, we also recommend visiting Taalintehdas town for a frosty pint on the sunny terrace of Strandhotellet. If you can spare half a day, you can also take a ferry to Rosala Viking centre to throw some battle axe! If you have a full day to spare, Bengtskär lightshouse is worth seeing in all its stately isolation (reserve in beforehand, quite costly to stay overnight but worth it)).

Amenities
- Huts on stils for sleeping. Inside no other furniture than 3 beds, no electricity (flashlights provided). No locks on the huts' doors! A safe or similar can be requested if you carry valuables.
- No indoor toilets, but the two outhouses are closeby, less than 10 meters away (wet wipes for hand hygiene)
- Self-service breakfast; all ingredients wait for you in the fridge of the great hall (about 15 meters away). They had bread, coldcuts, cheese, youghurt, muesli, juice, coffee...
- Smoke sauna with showers. We hadn't requested the use of the smoke sauna so the granite floor was a little bit chilly when showering. But it was an amazing and mystery-like construction none the less. A real stream runs inside the sauna and it's lit only by small candle-like lights! Be prepared to smell of smoke for days, though, you'll definitely remember where you've been :)
