Somehow I found this hotel charming. I could imagine that at all the ski competitions in Kuopio many athletes would come down here (probably not the toppeople). The ski jump is really not far away. But to the city center I usually drove by car. The hotel room is large enough. The beds were, however, quite well laid out. The bathroom is anything but modern, but large enough. The brightness to the other rooms is not so ideal. The breakfast was rather kept to the best of the best, but all the essential things like bread, jam, sausage, cheese, cereal or rye were there. There were some other warm foods. The breakfast room, however, also had some kind of a charm. The hotel also has a charm. The hotel is not so ideal. There is nothing else to eat in the middle of the Western Park.

Hotel with the charm of a youth hostel

When we enter Kuopio, we immediately find this hotel where we enter after parking in the adjacent plaza where the hotel has reserved places for him. From the outside, it looks very large, not recent but not even decrepit; very green exterior. As soon as you enter, the surprise: it does not seem to be in a hotel: in fact it is reserved for this one floor only, if I remember the third. There is a room that serves as a reception, there seems to me to lack any living space. The rooms are ok from every point of view.

It's a strange but acceptable place.

Located at Puijonlaakso, a few kilometers from city center, bus stop is front of the hotel. Free parking and wifi. We stayed at economy room, own bathroom, no aircon or fridge. The room might be quite hot at summer. The reception is at third floor, the hotel is now days little bit rambling.  Buffet style breakfast was served at the basement.

One night stay

All the major hotels in Kuopio were fully booked and had to take a room away from the city centre. The best part of the experience was definitely the helpful and kind service personnel in the reception. This evening it was staffed by a local student and he’ll go far with that attitude.
The hotel is situated about 10 min from the railway station, and the entrance can be a little tricky if you don’t follow the signs. It’s a bit old and maybe worn out, but the room itself was spotless with crisp clean linen. All the basic necessities were in the room. 
On the negative we can find the lack of a restaurant for the evening, but the nearby shopping centre provides for this loss. The breakfast room was quaint and very well stocked with fresh ingredients.
All in all I had a pleasant stay. Value for money which is why I rate this as 4/5

Adequate and clean, great service

That once was a large, middle class hotel. Now it's reduced to one floor (3rg floor). An independent restaurant resides in the first floor. There is no reception, only a small room in 3rd floor, most of the time not occupied. The breakfast is served in a bunker-like cellar. It's buffet also has been reduced.
The room, I had, was large and spacious, but understanding the electrical wiring needs a technician. The tube in the bathroom needs a ladder to enter. Your privacy is obeyed closely. No personal has entered my room in the three days of my stay.

Shrinked

I don't know what this hotel used to be, now it's called Savona, and it looks like it's Soviet-style. The Reception is a small room on the third floor, where the rooms are located, actually well furnished and recently furnished and with a great bathroom. Breakfast is on the ground floor and it's rather poor compared to what's usually found.

Previously owned hotel

The hotel is not central but has a nice location for cross-country skiing, good bus connection to the centre, and supermarkets and a fast-food place just outside the door. The rooms are functional and fine. The breakfast is basic but ok. So far so good.

The problem is that the wifi is from the previous century. Not even news-sites will load reliably under a minute, forgot checking FB. Moreover, the room service did not enter our room and we had to go to the reception to get new toilet paper.

A mixed review

Nice location, the hotel is old, but very clean. Snow-white underwear and towels, shampoos, shower gel, spacious room all cleanly cozy. Own parking, more convenient parking space. Breakfast is normal without excesses, but you won't go hungry. There is a teapot, coffee bags, tea and sugar in the room.

Good location

We stayed overnight in Kuopio on the way to Helsinki and stopped at this hotel, which offers a good range of services, suited to its category, and could have improved the breakfast room, which is in the basement, next to the kitchen machines and is small and noisy.

De passage 

The hotel is in a quiet place, convenient for travelers in a car, next to a supermarket with a wide selection of food, the room was large, clean, cozy, everything except the fridge, a nice breakfast, plenty of wifi, the staff friendly and smiling, it's always nice.
