The Gem

Very helpful and friendly, excellent English spoken by the host. It's a boutique little place within walking distance of the Cathedral and old Town, and close to the Museum of Picardy and Jules Verne's house (closed on Tuesday by the way). Comfortable and very quiet despite being so central.

A gem of a place for discovering Amiens

Very nice house, spacious and clean rooms. A bit of an upholstery staircase if you're traveling with a heavy suitcase and your room is at the top. Good breakfast salty and sweet. Very present and very kind dog. On the other hand, no improvement compared to the current pandemic: never-masked owner, no hydro-alcoholic gel, breakfast at the same table as other people (sympathetic, but not our bubble) with transfer of dishes from one side of the table to the other.

It's a nice place.

We stayed for one night at The Gem as a stop off on the way back to Calais. 
The host was very helpful pre arrival and we arranged parking for 15 euro in a private, secure garage about a 5 minute walk away. We had cycles and a roof box so parking on the street was not suitable. 
The Gem is a lovely little hotel in a wales courtyard. We had a family room/suite with 2 bedrooms and shared bathroom and WC.
There is a hands room and courtyard to sit in and breakfast was served in a beautiful conservatory with art deco style glass ceiling. 
Continental breakfast was lovely and lots of food. 
The hotel is very close to the city centre and all major attractions very easy to wan in and out.
Would definitely recommend and wish we had time to stay longer here and in Amiens which was also a hidden gem. 

A proper hidden gem 

Unfortunately, the reception was just polite and the little dej poor. Apart from the fact that it was served very late in a professional setting (from 8am) because Madame has to drive her child to school..., there is very little choice: some kind of jam, yogurt, a piece of cheese and croissants. But I was accompanied by a colleague who only eats salt in the morning, and wanted a good stick with his cheese... I personally wanted to see eggs: ah no, I don't do that. I expect a more personalized service and more variety in a house.

Nice place, polite reception, poor little place

Nice guesthouse in a friendly environment, family owned. We stayed for one night and had the large family room with a separate room for 3 persons. The rooms have very nice furniture with a new bathroom and a separate toilet. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. We have been offered simple, but fresh continental breakfast. The guesthouse is located in walking distance to all sightseeings.

B&B in

Friendly, intimate, very well run and maintained guesthouse. We had the large family room, great for privacy with a separate room that slept 3 kids with all the amenities you need. Excellent, fresh French breakfast, served at a time that suits you.  Family run.  Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend it. 

Loved It

We contacted The Gem from Australia and our emails were promptly answered by Estelle who was patient with our many questions. 
In addition, she arranged transport to and from the railway station; a half day trip to a war cemetery of particular family interest and a third trip which was to the Sir John Monash Centre. We were chauffeured in a most comfortable and scrupulously clean Mercedes van. 
We were advised of the costs in advance and felt we got great personalised value for money. 
The Gem is located on the edge of town. A leisurely walk into town each day via a different route meant we made new discoveries every day. 
The Gem itself is part of a family home and as such we were delighted to be able to share their heritage, family space. Due to my needs, we were able to book a ground floor room with all access on even ground. The king size bed was very comfy. There were sufficient furnishings without the room being crowded. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped. We’ve never seen a larger shower rose! Heated towel rail meant we didn’t need to change towels every day. It also added some warmth when the weather turned a bit nasty as it sometimes can in early Spring. The room heater was very effective too. 
The family has a 2-yr old beagle called Nougat. He’s a little gentleman although he has a liking for dropped table serviettes!! We’re not really ‘dog people’ but can report that the family members were all on alert to prevent him being a nuisance. 
Estelle serves a generous continental breakfast of croissants, baguette, fruit, yoghurt, homemade jam, honey, coffee and a wide selection of teas. There’s no pressure to finish breakfast and we were very pleased to be able to eat a little later on the weekend days. 
Estelle is multilingual which is a real bonus. She and her three daughters were all just lovely to us and made us very welcome indeed. 
The Gem is a top rate Guesthouse. We were so pleased we chose to stay there rather than a hotel. The whole experience was fantastic. 

Brilliant hospitality

Located in a very quiet street in the center, the Gem is a real guest house, where the owners live. The building is very large, with beautiful volumes, an inner courtyard. The CHs are distributed between the building in the courtyard and the main house, where I stayed.

Nice house, friendly reception

Great location, close to the city centre and Zenith d'Amiens, serious and friendly accommodation, very good quality breakfast, spacious room, impeccable cleanliness, free Wi-Fi.

Week in Amiens

In a beautiful district of Amiennois, 5 minutes walk from the city centre, this guest house is lovely. Tres beautiful interior, nice courtyard, great quiet but the room is sad: cold light, ceiling has heights... Besides the equipment is very comfortable: firm bed, well equipped bathroom, quality breakfast so too expensive given the feeling
