Nice walk. Nice village to stroll around. Quiet in June, ice tasting by the friendly welcome water. It's imperative, easy access even with a stroller. Typical village well maintained.

Between friends

You don't know where to start until everything is perfect! The appetizer is a real time of friendliness, the castle is gorgeous, the room was fantastic, the view is gorgeous, but most of all the hospitality is extra! The guests are taking little care of you! You absolutely have to go there! and back there!

We can't do better than that!

We stayed here for 2 nights, we wanted to experience the Ardeche and this is the spot to do it from! 

Florence and Luc gave us the warmest of welcomes, our room was stunning, beautifully decorated with all the mod cons, but managing to keep the feel of the chateau as well. The building is 12th Century and the views were insanely good. The village is small and quiet, but has a couple of lovely restaurants and all within walking distance. The best bit about the stay.... the Breakfast. It was truly the best breakfast I have ever had. Everything was home made or local and there was LOADS! we didn't need lunch. Both Florence and Luc were great hosts and their English is excellent, a lot better than my french, so I felt included even though all the other guests were french (my partner speaks very good french) 

I would definitely recommend this, in fact I want to go back!

Wonderful welcome

A great stay, in a charming castle in impeccable condition, the view of the village and the fire is splendid. Luc and Florence are discreet, extremely touching hosts, full of kindness, love, sharing and attention. Breakfast is a real feast, mostly local or homemade products, while the evening apero is an extremely friendly and warm time, which also allows us to discover local or homemade products but above all to share with the guests and other people who stay there as well. But we stayed 3 nights in the Buis room, an absolutely splendid room. Despite the beauty of the bastille and its location, this is an extremely friendly and warm time, which also allows us to discover local or homemade products but above all to share with the guests and other people who also stay there.

Calm, serene, sharing, beauty

It's a prestigious castle that's been renovated to match the old one perfectly. The guests are very welcomed with a friendly appetizer. The village is beautiful and its alleys are more than charming.

It's a great weekend.

I do a lot of research before booking any trips. Because of this, I knew that I would be staying in an excellently renovated 11th century castle in the spectacularly gorgeous region of Ardeche, France.

What I didn't realize until I arrived there was that the castle and beautiful medieval town of Balazuc are only half of the story. The owners, Florence and Luc, are two of the nicest, most gracious people you will ever meet.

They take B&B to an entirely new level. Every evening at 7 they offer local wine and aperitifs. You have an opportunity to visit with the hosts and meet the other guests. 

We stayed four nights, each evening having a different assembly of guests; some from France, Germany and Switzerland. I speak French and it was fun to visit with the others.

Then there is le petit dejeuner... (or breakfast). What a luscious spread they have waiting for you in the morning. It easily ranks a five-star hotel rating from the variety of coffee and teas to the cooked-to-order eggs, ham, local jams and honey, delicious fresh fruit compotes with either French creme or yogurt, bread, a half-dozen kinds of fabulous fromage, tarts and cakes. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but I think you get the idea.

The location of Chateau du Balazuc is spectacular with easy access to all the regional things to visit - Pont du Vallon, Chauvet Cave 2, and more medieval towns than you can imagine. 

Rarely do I rave about a place, but Chateau du Balazuc along with Florence and Luc deserve it!

Such a fabulous place!

Florence and Luke are extremely kind, the castle is beautiful, ideally located, the perfect rooms and breakfasts are falling to the ground, but what I've preferred are the daily appetizers served with local produce, and we'll be back soon.

3 days at Balazuc Castle

My wife and I had a fantastic week at Chateau de Balazuc to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. 

The castle  was lovely and we stayed in the Ramparts room where we enjoyed the sunny private terrace. Luc and Florence were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. 

We really enjoyed breakfast each morning including eggs and bacon (cooked in any style you request), croissants, granola, yoghurts and a selection of bread, cheese and cake. The guests gather at 7pm for an aperitif which includes a glass or two of local wines. We really enjoyed sampling the different wines over the course of the week (and were delighted when Luc and Florence gave us a bottle of the local viognier as a leaving gift!). Even though we couldn't speak French, Luc and Florence both speak excellent English and made us feel included. 

Nothing was too much trouble for them, on the day we did a canoe descent of the Ardeshe river, they offered to make us breakfast at 7am (when normally breakfast starts at 8.30) and even made us a packed lunch to have during our canoe trip as they knew there would be no where open for us to buy lunch before we started the canoe (as we were starting early). They would also recommend restaurants for dinner and would even call ahead of make reservations for us (there are two nice restaurants you can walk to in the village but you have to drive to the others). 

Balazuc is a very picturesque medieval French village surrounding by stunning scenery. We would definitely return!
