Castle in the middle of a large wooded, quiet park, with a large isolated swimming pool. Horses, ponies, and other animals are part of the décor. The green room with park views is clear clean and coquette., small functional bathroom. a living room with television, radio and musical instruments is located on the ground floor. The dining room is rustic with a beautiful old white fireplace with heated plates. Dinner was simple and good; the breakfast was plentiful, homemade jams. The restaurants are discreet and kind, leaving us alone for meals. This castle is close to sites, towns and villages to visit (Castres, Sorze, Revel, Albi...)

A quiet castle

I went to find the owner to pay bill. Owner was aggressive because I had gone through an open door that apparently led to a private part of the house that the plebs must not enter. I felt threatened and intimidated. Bullying and aggression are not traits for people in a service industry. A loveable John Cleese this owner is not. In addition, on arrival there was not even a glass of water offered, or a bottle in the bedroom with which a guest can refresh themselves. There was not even a glass in the bedroom to use if we had had the forsight to bring drink with us. We tried to contact the owners by knocking on a door, but although we could see one of them in the room they ignored our need for some water. I had to drive to find a supermarket to buy a bottle of water. Perhaps we are becoming spoilt as guests where guesthouse owners we have met, understand the virtues of good customer service. If you want service in a B&B you will not find it here. Maybe it was an off day for the owners but there were no bottom sheets on the beds but some sort of grubby nylon mattress cover doubled as a sheet. This was that not what I would expect in any decent B&B. The owners appear to run the business as their personal fiefdom and wobetide any serf that dares to question its masters. The notice in the rooms says it all 'breakfast is from 9 to 10. If you have not vacated the room by 10 you will be charged an extra day'. What happens if you want breakfast at 8 to then get off to a meeting! I suppose the owners just want you to pay for the night and go off 5k to the nearest town and buy your own breakfast so they can save money with one croissant less to spend money on.  P.S. Bring your own shampoo etcetera - none is supplied.

Returning to time place, this time for a business trip was a good choice. Great place to relax and enjoy the excellent food. It is the best place to prepare for intensive meetings. The place breathes the atmosphere of many centuries of nobility. Driving up the lane to the entrance give a feeling of entering a sanctuary...


Return to paradise...

In the countryside, the Château de Dournes is a nice place to relax. It is a beautiful home with spacious rooms and furnished with refinement. Nothing to say about cleanliness, everything is impeccable. The consumables available in the bathroom are of good quality. The owners are very kind and very attentive. Breakfast is generous and good. We enjoyed the quality (bio) products from the guest table. On the other hand, the quantities served are somewhat fair for appetites. It is possible to make pony for the children. Two regrets: 1) the boan is paid, including the wine and the table when we arrive at the table before the meal.

Stay at the Château de Dournes

A beautiful, well-maintained castle, with beautiful green spaces, animals and especially the tranquility that is very much appreciated. We spent one night and it was magical, relaxing and unpalatable. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. The green room is large, warm and comfortable. There is no noise except the very pleasant singing of birds. We slept very well. The guests are welcoming and warm. We highly recommend the castle of Dournes!!! I hope to return there.

That's perfect!

To stay at Chateau Dournes is a privilege. The tranquil garden/park with its century-old trees and singing birds is an oasis of peace, you might just want to spend the whole day there. The region is however rich in things to do and see, perfect for hiking and biking, nearby or in the Black Mountain, discover the market in Revel (saturdays), Sorèze, the Goya museum in Castres or Albi with its cathedral and the Toulouse-Lautrec museum. 
I had the apartment, which is also a perfect place for a longer stay, work, writing. Everything works well including WiFi, excellent beds. The photographs faithfully reflect what you will find: a superbe place tastefully decorated. Eva and Hanspeter are perfect hosts, helpful, friendly, and discreet. Eva is also an excellent cook, you wouldn’t want to miss out on that. 
Overall, a place you will wish to return to, which I certainly do, and which I strongly recommend.

To stay at Dournes is a privilege

The place is run by a couple from Austria, who is very dedicated to make the place just perfect. We booked the apartment directly connected to the main house. We were very pleased with the tidyness of the place and the eye for details, like the kitchen supplies (oil, spaghetti, coffee, ect.), even dishwashing tablets for the dishwasher!
Our children enjoyed the swimming pool, while we explored the surroundings. If we didn’t prepare our own meals, we enjoyed the breakfast and the superb dinners in the garden. (you must try this!!) We stayed for a whole week. We’ve traveled all over the globe, but this place was something special, we will definitely come back again.

A glance of paradice!

We had booked the holiday apartment, very nicely furnished, very clean, everything there... the children liked the horses very well... and enjoyed the swimming pool... The chateau is very quiet and is ideal for relaxation. By car you can easily reach the surrounding cities and the day trip to the sea was also relaxing and beautiful.

What a charming place! The hosts a so incredibly welcoming and caring, they gave us so many hints for trips and places in the vicinity. What we liked most was the wonderful food of the charming landlady. We will certainly come again and enjoy the quietness and the comfort of this remarkable chateau!
