Very disappointed!! Room let's not talk about it atrociously and when we arrive we don't announce a restaurant because there is no cook!! so do a ten kilometers to Puy en Velay and only find a disgusting brewery!! The p'tit dej very limited too!! I didn't expect this at all and I will never go back to it again!! To avoid the max!!

It's really bad!!

We were passing through the Puy-en-Velay for the evening and we needed a room to sleep in, all the hotels in the city being full we headed to this hotel which waited for us to arrive late at night so that we could afford a place to sleep. This proves the great generosity and great professionalism of this hotel. At the room level, sure the decor is a little old but very honestly it is not even a criterion when this hotel saves us from a night with the beautiful star. The bunk and the cradles were very clean as well. Very short stay but very pleasant to serve all this.

Great professionalism

This hotel was a three-star hotel 40 years ago but there are improvements to be made (change mattresses too soft, take down split toilet to change, dry hair...the rooms are clean and breakfast very good

The potential is enormous

Here is the hotel page, the restaurant page is the restaurant tab, then the barrel mill because some reviews mix the two here which is not the case in the restaurant section. Hotel well located to visit Le Puy en Velais if you do not want to be in the city in a huge park, quietly near a river. The owner (very kind) on the phone will inform us that the hotel rooms would be smaller but + recent in the main building (or is located the same) than the apartments or we have accommodated (rooms in the annexes) with a view of a row of bathrooms for the rooms and on the doorstep of the park. There is no direct access to the park window... but the windows of the park will be useful... but the bathroom and the bathroom in the same room, so see if the restaurant is empty with a view of the bathroom and the bathroom in the same room.

The only strength is the calmness of the park.

This establishment must have experienced a lavish and lucrative era, 20 years ago. Since then nothing has changed, it looks like an abandoned place or just housekeeping (no more) is done. There is no more kitchen, everything is replaced by microwaves or Marie baths with industrial vacuum food. The rooms, clean but without comfort, old spring beds, obsolete water network... In short, to avoid, because the prices are too high for quality.

A school with no breath

We arrived with our family in this very typical place with a park and a river surrounding this mill. The rooms in the mill are very old but they go well with the style of the establishment, impeccable cleanliness and calmness are on your way. The dining is of great quality, a big thank you to the chef!!! and the classic breakfast but there was everything needed. The staff and Mrs Coffi the very pleasant owner and listening to her customers. I recommend this place to people who are looking for an atypical and very quiet place. A pity that leisure is abandoned pool ect... which would make this place a place where we could spend more time.

It's a very nice frame.

The setting is nice despite a little old-fashioned decoration. The room is the right size, very clean. It's very quiet. The breakfast is cozy and quality. The manager is someone adorable, very flattering and with little care, you feel like your grandmother.

Pleasant site

On our back to Switzerland, we decided to stop in Puy en Vellay and chose the Moulin de Barette. Very nice location and very quiet. The rooms were just nice and comfortable. The is quite a big field in front of our room and our kids were able to able to play freely on it. We were however disappointed that the swimming pool was closed and the tennis court not in very good conditions.

Enjoyable hotel

My husband and I stayed here in May 2013. The price was fantastic, the breakfast delicious and varied and the rooms were comfortable. The hotel is certainly dated but that is properly reflected in the price. It is a short drive to Puy-en-Velay. The owner is a charming lady who likes to chat. This is a typical European hotel - small, traditional but comfortable - and we enjoyed it greatly. Highly recommended.

Charming little hotel in the centre of France

We stayed four nights - attending a wedding reception in one of the function rooms and helped prepare and tidy up. There were few other guests, to either hotel or restaurant, which is sad because the hotel staff were as friendly as can be, and the Italian chef was excellent. Perhaps because of the lack of business, the bar wasn't particularly well stocked (no decent whisky or vodka). The rooms - in separate blocks some yards from the main old hotel building - are fairly basic but reasonably spacious. There are tennis courts which appear not to have been used for years, and a swimming pool / cafeteria ditto (the pool was empty). Location was superb, in a fold of the mountains just three km out of Le Puy-en-Velay. Quite, peaceful, and would be a great pity if it has to close.
