Manor to the height of its history!!!

We were a fairly large and fairly young group, and finding ourselves even noisy around 2am, the owner reassured us about the noise that was not excessive the next morning. The setting is beautiful, ideal to cut yourself off from the world and use the screens to enjoy the many acres available for a three- or three-night walk. Ideal for families or groups who wish to enjoy the train. The convenient dishes are not uncomfortable, but the kitchen is convenient, and if you are not in doubt, you will be able to use the two-hour dining room, but the kitchen and the dining room are convenient, and if you are not in doubt, you will be able to use the two-hour dining room.

It was an unforgettable experience.

Beautiful frame Large property of 50 hectares with horse chest. Very nice property or there is even a renovated pigeon in the room. The style of the house is refined. The pool is large. The living room is very large and pleasant. The managers of the place are very welcoming. In short, you can go there with your eyes closed

A beautiful place, an ideal stop for a long drive, what a pleasure to dive into the pool!!! Very welcome. I had the room you can see in the photo by the pool. Super breakfast.

calm and rest

A beautiful home nestled in the middle of a beautiful estate, in absolute calmness. A warm and distinguished welcome by the owner of the place, superb rooms with a magnificent old furniture, an extremely comfortable bunk. It is exceptional that in such a setting children are received with such kindness and feel like at home. Even pets are admitted. For a family returning on vacation it is just a beautiful stop in which we have only a desire.... to return to enjoy it for a longer time... Unfortunately we could not enjoy the guest table, but the restaurant recommended by the owner of the estate was also unattainable!!

Magical, beautiful and beautiful

What a beautiful address... although the weather did not allow us to fully realize this very beautiful home and its assets (garden, terrace, swimming pool, etc.), while passing through the Allier we still had a very pleasant time. The reception is very friendly, the room is very well decorated with beautiful objects, the comfortable bed and the quiet of the place guarantee a deep sleep. The very cozy breakfast is simply delicious takes place in an impressive room just in front of the pool.

A quiet and restful place with a warm welcome!

Located in the Auvergne region, le manoir du Mortier is a really good place to stay for a few days (or even just one night) when travelling South or North. The Manoir has been very nicely refurbished and is very comfortable. The lady owning the manoir provides you with a first class hospitality and serving excellent food.
It is an extremely quiet place to rest. If you enjoy nice weather, you will be very happy to have a nice swim. We warmly recommend the place.

A perfect and charming place to take a breath

We stayed at the Manoir du Mortier for one night to break a long car journey across France since although hidden away down small back roads, it is only a short way from major highways both East-West and North-South.  The owner emailed us some helpful directions beforehand but having reserved via booking.com and given a credit card guarantee, I was a little surprised to be asked to send a down-payment by French cheque in the post (I wonder what overseas guests would do).  

The property is in a truly gorgeous position with a commanding view over the local countryside.  It's a wonderfully restored fortified farm with rooms around a raised terrace and swimming pool.  We slept in the Tour Carrée (square tower), consisting of a high-ceilinged bedroom and a palatial bathroom down a steep spiral staircase.  Really comfortable bed.  Guests have the use of a large communal room where meals are taken, plus a kitchen area with fridge.  

We were traveling with a young baby and though we were given a very warm welcome and a travel-cot was provided (we had to put it together ourselves....), you couldn't describe the Manoir as particularly child-friendly; the gravel underfoot between the accommodation and the carpark is near-impossible to negotiate with a push-chair and there are quite a lot of steps.  No fence around the pool, meaning mobile young children would need to be watched like a hawk. The same would go for the steep bathroom stairs in our room, though there was a stair-gate.  

Be warned that the farm is down a very long, very uneven unmade driveway and drivers of low-slung cars would need to go extremely carefully.  Meaulne, the nearest village, is quiet verging on dead.  Having made arrangements to have dinner at the Manoir, we arrived only to be told that a guest had been taken ill in the morning and the owner hadn't had a chance to sort dinner out.  After a long day on the road with a baby in tow, an extra drive in the evening to the nearest restaurant really wasn't ideal.  Seems rather amateurish for an establishment charging that much per night and even a phone call in advance to warn us would have been appreciated. I also felt breakfast was rather limited, with little more than bread, cheap cereal and not-very-nice coffee in a thermos left out for guests.  

It's a pity to raise these negative points given the beautiful setting and excellent night's sleep but this a high-end B&B and they could easily be sorted out.
