It is not complete luxury and opulence, but you get to see a real world example of a French palace and how it operated, how people lived and the atmosphere for living in the country a few hundred years ago.

This beautiful atmospheric establishment is 5-star! The rooms feel like stepping back in time yet offer all the modern conveniences. The beds are very comfortable and the linens and towels are plush. 
Breakfast is included and plentiful; the host/owner and his family prepare and serve the meal. There is fresh fruit, selections of breads and cheese, an assortments of jams and honey, and plenty of coffee and/or tea. 
The grounds of the chateau are idyllic and peaceful. Through our open bedroom window, we even heard a cuckoo bird in the distance!
Do stay here if the opportunity presents! It will be a highlight of your visit to France.

A Memorable Stay in an Atmospheric Family-Operated Castle!

Excellent stay, discreet but attentive reception. The parade room where we stayed is sublime with its period furniture, bright and spacious with a very nice view of the park. It brings all the necessary comfort. Breakfast, in the colours of Normandy is a peppet, in a vaulted room at the corner of the fire where beautiful tables are set up... For lovers of beautiful castles it is an experience to be made absolutely!

What a wonderful experience

Located less than a beautiful hour drive from Giverny of Monet fame, this is the perfect location to explore many wonderful attractions nearby. Alain and Sylvie are the owners and consummate host and hostess. The rooms are beautifully appointed in keeping with its 300+ year history. We cannot say enough good things about the whole experience, so please....go...relax...enjoy, and say hi to Alain and Sylvie for me. We know you will want to return again and again.

Beautiful property in fabulous surroundings. The Lady of the house was a wonderful host and was an invaluable help in assisting us with our covid tests/results. The chateaux was built in 1570 and has been in het family since the late 1800,s.

Fantastic

We were here one night for my partner's 40th birthday. The castle is truly gorgeous and a sight to behold. There are 3 suites, 2 rooms and 2 feWos. We had the red prestige suite: 2 rooms plus bathroom. The plot and the gardens of the building are wonderfully maintained and decorated. The castle itself is endowed with authentic museum charm: furniture, furnishings and decorations are mostly original according to their era. Of course the bathrooms are modern and spacious and the beds are furnished. One should only be aware that in the old room there are definitely not many people staying for nights, the atmospheric cheese is definitely something special to eat here.

The charm of museums

Our group of a dozen or so participants spent a lovely weekend at the Château de Bonnemare. Between our sessions of yoga, meditation and « sylvothérapie » or tree hugging, we were served delicious vegetarian meals which suited us perfectly. For breakfast, we indulged in buttery croissants and breads, locally made yogurts and fruit. The owners, Alain and Sylvie and their son Alois were always available and couldn’t do enough for us! I can’t wait to return!

Best part of our trip in France. Very romantic. Lovely breakfast. Great walk around the grounds. Friendly staff. Huge room. Restaurant they booked for us was also excellent. Definitely make this a stop on your trip if you can 

The negative points I've scored below average, because the customer attention is far from what one could expect from this place (it's not because they didn't book a royal suite that they should be considered disguised 😜) The reception was just courteous and the service was not professional (they were contacted at 11pm due to our problem of locking the door and no one moved, a very big indifference) Our room in the Rez of the street did not meet the standard of security, because the window that was on the park was air conditioned (in case of a fire, it was dangerous, and with the own products we left the door open for lunch) and the service was not professional (they were contacted at 11pm due to our problem of locking the door and no one moved, a very big indifference)
