Parking, very clear, clean, very quiet room, spacious bathroom, breakfast in a pleasant setting in the company of Mrs. Pellissier, a very charming and friendly person.

It's Easter weekend. It's the Pergola of the Smile.

A very warm welcome! to the little care with their hostess which is pleasant. For breakfast the lady takes the time to stay to discuss and give information about the places or other visited We had a pleasant stay. We recommend this hostel!

It's a great stay.

Good stay, Breakfast served between 8.30 and 9.30 in the company of the hostess very good with fresh and local products, adapts to hot drinks according to everyone's wishes. Very spacious and bright room, bathroom well equipped with hair dryer but a little Italian shower, the sdb is quickly soaked. Correct cleanliness. To access the room you have to walk in the grass. Not very convenient for suitcases and to maintain cleanliness in the housing, creating a passage/path would be wise. Ready for a bed. 20th/night extra umbrella for our 2nd child.

A pleasant stay in a genuine Charentaise

Very friendly home.. spacious room with nice modern bathroom. The environment is very relaxing.. nice garden (For a picnic??... I'm joking, Mrs. Understand! ;) Very proper breakfast! Advisor!

A guest room in a quiet corner. We enjoyed this small resting corner. The garden is very well maintained, the room is very spacious, and breakfast is delicious. We are very happy with our two nights.

Calmness

It was a guest house where you felt comfortable getting to nothing else, our room was triple, but almost two rooms in one, spacious, with neat and clean furniture and comfortable beds.The owner sits down every day at breakfast to talk to you, about the trip, what you want to see or anything else.She is always on the lookout for what you need, but without being too intrusive, highly recommended.

Enchanting the place and the owner, like at home!

For christmas our daughter did purchase a two nights stay in Retaud ... we decided to go there for our eastern vacations. This is a lovely and peaceful place in a small village close to Saintes. A large and comfortable room , friendly welcome, good breakfast ... it was a nice time.

Easter time in Charentes Maritimes

We've been to this oasis of peace many times with Dominique and her spouses, and probably in 2008 we were among their first guests. We've found a small spot that you wouldn't leave behind. We have some beautiful memories that I'd like to share with all the photos we've taken. Thank you Dominique.

Beautiful seventh stage, from Angers to Retaud.

An oasis of beauty and simplicity but above all a beautiful place where people still count their feelings and where smiles and sympathy are the protagonists....Thank you Dominique for your smile and your kindness and cordiality....you made us feel at home.

...two days of dreaming!

Located in a very small hamlet, about 20 minutes drive from Royan and 10 minutes from Saintes, this little bed and breakfast offers tranquility away from the hustle of the seaside resorts. A car is essential.
On arrival the entrance to the property looks very average, with private parking for your car. Then we met Dominique the host, who is charming, and incredibly helpful. She kindly showed us around, (including meeting the cat), showing us the large breakfast room (which is for guest to use at anytime), filled with many beautiful books, leaflets, and guides of the local area, indoor and outdoor seating areas, and CD player. It was nicely decorated in a romantic french style. 
Then she showed us to our rooms, a huge master bedroom, with antique furniture, and a very comfy double bed, seperate single bed area, toilet and wet-room. All very tastefully decorated. Plus outdoor seating area, and huge patio doors onto the garden.Tea and Coffee facilities and bottled water was also provided. 
Breakfast was a good selection of breads and jams (including a goats cheese bread), and on the last day Dominique joined us at the breakfast table, and we chatted about French life. 
All this was 55 Euros a night. This is a little gem of a place, a bit off the beaten track, but a good location for those who want to visit the busy coast, but want to return to the the peace of the countryside at the end of the day. 
Royan and the area just to the north is very touristy, we would recommend Meschers Sur Gironde for a small town, and selection of nice beaches. Saintes is also worth a visit, lovely old town, with a great little chinese restaurant; The Mandarin at 7 Rue Alsace Lorraine, 17100 Saintes.
