Beautiful frame with direct view of Vienna. Warm home, neat breakfast and very good with homemade products. Perfect room, comfortable bed, large bathroom, small attention in the room, in short, perfect!

Nice place between Lyon and Noirmoutier for nature lovers... nice village and remarkable location on the edge of Vienna.

Calmness and Kindness

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay beside the Vienne River. Jeanne welcomed us warmly and we truly felt at home throughout our stay. Our room was spotless, spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. We loved the wooden shutters that were very effective at minimizing the very vocal frogs in the river each evening! Breakfast was plentiful and customized for each member of our party. The crepes were delicious and the addition of meats, cheeses, yogurt, eggs, and fruit got our days off to an excellent start. The home and grounds are immaculately kept and it was a pleasure to relax in the evening. The Wi-Fi service was steady and reliable. We didn't miss having a television as the tranquil surroundings were plenty entertaining. The private gated parking and very reasonably priced laundry service was much appreciated. Chinon is a quick 10 minute drive away and we found the Domaine du Heron to be the perfect home base to explore the Loire Valley. We would love to return and stay longer!

Home Base That Feels Like Home

Absolutely amazing experience staying at Domaine du Heron. Lovely rooms overlooking the river, amazing shower, super friendly couple owning and running the place. Place originally build by the mans grandfather and been in the family ever since. Great recommendations on restaurants in Chinon, which is only 5 mins drive away. And the breakfast 😍

Like a home stay 

Beautiful country house overlooking the river. Lovely family made us feel completely at home. The room was spotlessly clean. Off road car parking in the courtyard area. Breakfast delicious homemade pastries, crepes, Jams, yoghurts. We didn’t want to leave! 

Exceptional 

We stayed 3 nights in this fantastic accommodation on the banks of the river Vienne.In our room there were three rooms: a very spacious bedroom with a very large and comfortable bed, a large and modern bathroom and a living room with a desk, sofa, books....The best thing for me was the peace of mind that was breathed and the magnificent breakfast on the terrace by the river.We received a woman, I imagine it would be the owner, who only speaks French, and only a few words of English but still, we looked very kind and we understood each other as we could.I would definitely return, this was the first of the 3 accommodations where Loimos on our visit to the Alps and went with the difference we liked best.I was convinced with an earlier opinion that the only sticker that opened my hands with a shower of ice cream, which I think would make the most of all the details, although I do not think that you could take much care of it.

A wonderful stay.

If it is nice you will be able to take your breakfast (full and well served) outside will be really nice if, in addition, you have a room with a view of the Loire your happiness will be perfect!

It's perfect.

My husband and I spent 1 night at this wonderful place and both wished it would have been many more nights.  The place was so tranquil especially after staying in Paris with the loud street noise. Here there is no street noise, only the sounds of birds and maybe frogs (not sure.)  (The frogs were loud though and earplugs are recommended if sounds disturb your sleep).  

The hostess Jeanne, is very friendly and makes you feel like family.  Upon greeting you she walks you around to show you the beautiful river views. Her rooms are tastefully decorated and expansive especially compared to hotels in Paris.  Our bed was made from memory foam and extremely comfortable.  

Her breakfast is wonderful.  We had it on the patio overlooking the river.  She serves homemade yogurt and jams alongside croissants, breads, ham, salami and eggs. The Domaine du Heron is exceptional and we hope to return very soon.  It is so peaceful, yet a very short drive ~8 min to beautiful Chinon.  It is also only a 4 km (2.4 mile) walk along the river into Chinon which would have been nice to stretch our legs.  If you are driving this is a wonderful place to stay.

BTW: the hotel is adjacent to a beautiful 11th century church visited by Jeanne d'Arc before her memorable meeting with the King!!!

(Someone mentioned the lack of coffee in the rooms but it appears Jeanne has responded to that concern and added coffee makers in the rooms.)
