A very pleasant setting. Breakfast is delicious and fresh produce, our very hospitable host is always ready to inform you about the history of the place and offer you suggestions for day trips.

The perfect stay

Magnificent well-maintained castle in a bucolic setting, with a beautiful view of the plain. Nice room in the tower.

A romantic and unusual stopover

Highly refined room and living room decoration, impeccable reception, authentic medieval stones... all to spend an exceptional weekend at the castle of the Martel Roche held by Alicia and Dominique.

Weekends excluded

The room is sumptuous, in the purest local and contemporary style, beautifully decorated with taste and quality down to the smallest details, with a beautiful view of the valley and beautiful trees. There is really nothing missing. The guests, genuine aristocrats, welcomed me with warmth, kindness and availability, even taking me to see a hunting trip, a brocante and the nearby castles! Exceptional indeed!

A royal weekend with exceptional guests

It's cold outside but warm inside. A relaxed atmosphere around the fireplace. A very well furnished, quiet room with a view of the park. An impeccable bathroom. A varied lunch with coffee, tea and chocolate.

A stay at the end of January 2019.

All in all, a well-made breakfast is rather pleasant but the choice is a little limited (lack of tea and chocolate) like to share meals in community and exchange and meet the guests.

Good overall

We had a marvelous stay in this enchanting chateau.  Dominique greeted us upon arrival and showed us to a stunning room in the heart of the chateau.  It was like staying in the bedroom of the many chateaus we had visited in the Loire Valley.  The room was large with a beautiful 4 poster canopied bed, huge stone fireplace, extra single bed, lovely antique furniture and a charming collection of head coverings.  The bathroom had a walk in shower, bath tub, beautiful porcelain sink and toilet.  There was even a small room with a kitchen sink and kettle for making coffee or tea.   

After seeing our room Dominique took us on a guided tour of the chateau.  We walked around the grounds and he told us the history of the castle and the surrounding area.  Dominique's passion for  history readily comes through in his intriguing stories.  

We had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious home cooked dinner with Dominique and Alice.  Alice had picked out local ingredients from the market and prepared a wonderful traditional French meal.  The food was incredible and the wine was perfect.   The best part of the evening was the wonderful conversation afterwards in front of the fireplace.  If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely return for another visit with Dominique and Alice.

Fantastic Room and Wonderful Hosts

Already at the entrance to the alley, you will be captured by the special atmosphere of this castle with a great history! The incredibly warm and family-friendly reception by the hosts is unparalleled! In our beautiful rooms we were awaited by a rose bush from the garden and a plate of freshly picked chilies. We were barely finished with the suitcase bag, we were already equipped with the best recommendations for the dignities of the region and a hand-drawn ski from the host, who showed us the host of our very good restaurant on the most beautiful terrace over the Loire. The next morning a stylish, lovingly prepared and delicious breakfast with breakfast was waiting for us with a very short time of French and Croatian breastfeeding and we could not return to our feast again until our thanksgiving and thanksgiving is very soon to be received!

A stay that leaves no wishes open

The saying goes, 'arrive as guests, leave as friends', and that is certainly how we felt after our wonderful week at Chateau de la Roche Martel. 

Dominique and Alicja were warm, welcoming and very thoughtful, from welcoming flowers and a bottle of sparkling (we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary) to loads of indoor toys and outdoor activities for our 9-year old son to entertain himself with. 

They made several spot-on recommendations for sight-seeing and restaurants, arranged for us to use the tennis courts at the local golf club, and recommended a wonderful carriage ride which gave us a glimpse into a different pace of life and a view of the country we would never have seen from the window of a car.

I have to mention the delicious, generous and varied breakfasts which we enjoyed over the course of our week stay.

Fantastic!

The owners do everything they can to make you feel appreciated and welcomed. This is what remains of a real little castle of the old Renaissance nobility. Despite the inclementness of time on the structure, the environment is cared for with the passion it deserves. Everything is original and restored with the utmost devotion, leaving to reality the advantages and inevitable flaws that this entails.
