I wanted to call this hotel to book a stay, phone numbers found on the internet and on annuaire.com (3rd) everything was no longer assigned! t I insisted on calling the resignants who gave a mobile number I fell on the email, so I left a message with the motif and my mobile number 2 days later still not having a reply I called the tourism office of Saint Robert who Oh Surprise informed me that the hotel Saint Robert ETAIT CLOSED!!!!!! I am very disappointed, no site signals this closure!

Sam's perfect home, very nice room with old bathtub, superb view. Nice little pool. Lunch enough. Very good quality price ratio.

Hotels to Avoid

It's a beautiful house that oozes character. We had a gorgeous room on a top floor: open space with a bathtub set on a low platform. The views are amazing. The hotel has a small pool, terrace and garden with the same beautiful view. Unfortunately, we were there on a Sunday when the restaurant is closed. The small town has no restaurants that are open on Sunday, so you'd have to drive to a nearby village.
There's also an annexe next door with rooms and I think a room with kitchen. We saw one of the rooms, which was pretty but had a view of the narrow road between the hotel and the annex (quiet, but who wants a view of a wall when you know what fabulous views the hotel can offer?)

Beautiful!

Hotel that we could call charming in a beautiful bourgeois house overlooking the huge valley that extends at the foot of the village of Saint Robert. The reception is simple but pleasant, the rooms are simple but comfortable. If you are asked if you would like to have dinner on site, say yes! You will taste a good terroir cuisine on the pleasant shaded terrace with a stunning view of the famous valley. Excellent cedar and duck meal with a sauce with cereal, grainy apples cooked with olive oil and herbs from the country. A delicious meal! In the morning, breakfast is noble on the terrace... This hotel has no great view of the famous valley... although I still recommend that you breathe the same, and in the end all of our restaurants in France taste the same.

The good taste of terroir...

But what a nice place it is here! Quiet, relaxing atmosphere... after a whole day on the Dordogne road in the heat, I really enjoyed the calm around the pool and the view of the valley The manager prepared a very friendly tomato salad that I tasted calmly, has the same for breakfast, on the stone terrace. If you like modern hotels without souls, go your way... I loved the floor that cracks out of my room when the owner, discreet, has a beautiful art collection including in the garden, and the night lights make this place very poetic

Excellent experience

We stayed in a wonderbox for two nights, including a small deer. We enjoyed the hotel setting and the staff who are very friendly. We ate the two nights and it was great, very good food. The small deer is simple. The room is old and clean. Very nice village. The two-star hotel. We enjoyed our we.

It's a nice frame.

The hotel is the first building you see as you enter Saint Robert, so we turned left after the hotel seeing the parking sign, we headed off down the little road to realise that parking was limited, it was a steep hill, so getting back up was fun...particularly as we were driving a fiat 5oo hire car (fantastic, but not great on hills).  We parked just outside on the road side a few metres away from the front door to our room.

The view from the hotel is breathtaking and a view that you are able to enjoy throughout your stay on the terrace over breakfast and dinner.  There is a pool which is very clean and lots of tables and chairs surrounding this, for those who want to enjoy the sun or read.

Booking in however was a challenge, as we speak little french and the owner spoke little english!, but we made it and glad we did.  

Hotel is quirky, but all very french, which we loved, the village is absolutely beautiful and pleased we had the hotel as the base, being able to wander around the village before or after dinner.  Food at the hotel was lovely with a choice of approximately 5 starters, with more mains and sweets on the fixed menu.  The waiter was lovely, again spoke little english, but it made you try harder to communicate in french, (something i do not do if people speak english) not a speedy service, but you did not want a quick meal and out, it was lovely to sit and eat watching the sun go down.  Surprised that whilst we were having dinner they turned people away who were not staying at the hotel!

Would love to go back when its colder so we could enjoy the fire inside the bar.

- "Chez Sam", the only café in town where the locals meet
- Chez Sam's friendly owners and their pizza
- Fast and free wifi
What we liked less:
- A grumpy owner - what a shame...
