Nice little hotel at the entrance to the pleasure harbour of Villefranche, clear, quiet, convenient, comfortable and well equipped room, generous balcony with sea view, pleasant and useful accommodation, friendly atmosphere.

La Darse: The Côte d'Azur is quiet

A family hotel with a long tradition, you feel at home, with a view of the charming little harbor, a nice restaurant, a very nice, personalized home, a very nice stay, a very close beach, a simple but clean room, a simple, good lunch, no chichies.

Family resting and welcoming

We stayed at the Hotel de la Darse in a side harbor view room for 4 nights. We had wanted a balcony-room facing the harbor, but alas, all were booked. However, it turned out to be a lovely room - we could open the window fully and from the bed, we had an excellent view of the harbor. The outside shutters could be closed to prevent additional light into the room - we did this each afternoon while we were out to prevent the sun from overheating the room. The room was fairly small, but it was adequate. Note: the hotel does not have an elevator, but we didn't find it too difficult to carry our bags up the fairly wide staircase.

The full breakfast is €12 per person - we usually got just a cappuccino and croissant for €4 per person. It was the way we normally started our days in Italy, and was quite good, with very flaky, melt-in-your-mouth croissants. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and found the food and the service to be very good.

The location of the hotel was perfect. You could take a quick walk around the port, or take the beautiful cobblestone path along the shore to get to the Main Street of the Old Town. It's about a 10-minute walk, depending on your speed.

Lovely hotel in a quiet location

The Hotel is just perfect. We had a seaside balcony room (34) and it was just lovely. Stunning views. The Hotel has a perfect location, directly opposite the Darse Harbour and  just a 10 minute stroll along an old stone cobbled path to the main promenade and Old town. The staff are exceptional! Breakfast was fantastic. Lots of choice and very fresh. Villefranche sur mer was a highlight for us. We enjoyed 7 nights at the Hotel and cannot recommend highly enough. 

5 star experience

Another amazing stay, very clean and staff are always polite and willing to help. This is are 3rd visit and it did not let us down. The on-site resturtant is so worth a try. Yes the rooms are small but who visits this place to spend time in the room. If you enjoy lovely walks to and from the beach this is the place for you …..thanks again see you next year

Hamilton Family

Stayed 2 nights at the end of July to join up with friends in the area. Great little 2 star hotel, very clean, wonderful views if you pay for the sea front rooms, we were late to book so had a view overlooking the chickens in the garden at the back of the hotel which was also quite sweet. 
Staff extremely helpful and went out of their way to help. 
Breakfast nice enough though after a couple of days I think I’d venture out as there are restaurants that do breakfasts nearby too. 
An elevator would have been perfect but this is 2 star and a very reasonable price so we managed the stairs fine but thought it might be helpful to point this out. 
What makes the real difference is the restaurant that has recently opened serving the best food, highly recommend the goats cheese salad and the courgette flowers. Great location and the hotel provided all we needed.

Great little find.

A lovely small hotel benefiting from a great location and lovely staff. Excellent return for money: rooms are very clean, air-conditioned, some have sea view , others garden view. The restaurant has a small restaurant which offers a natural, fresh "a la Carte menu". Prices are very correct, location charming.

A small jewel in Villefranche sur Mer

Small stay of 3 days. Rather small room but good quality/price ratio. Accommodation and cleanliness impeccable. 2 bemools: no hidden curtains (the blinds do not close well), so wake up at dawn. Hard for holidays!! (Management told us this will be solved). The price of breakfast is a little high. Very good location in April because there is a possibility of parking nearby.

Almost perfect

We arrived, settled in and were ready to stay there for even longer than we'd booked but life interrupts and you have to go home.

The hotel may not be for everyone, but it was just perfect for us, really lovely, situated away from the centre of town (a short stroll if you're asking), so delightfully quiet, with the harbour in front for gazing at.. and the most magnificent view of the bay. Room, bed, bathroom etc. were all just fine, staff were kind and helpful. 

If someone could move a boulangerie to the bottom of the hill, it would be perfect.

A balm for the soul

We used to stay at the Welcome but about twenty years ago, after they doubled their prices for no obvious reason, switched to the Darse. Even though it was then extremely shabby, the location beside the old harbour and with a wonderful view of the bay and Cap Ferrat more than made up for it. Since then the hotel has been completely refurbished inside and out, making it little different to the Welcome. Rooms are spacious, aircon is good and breakfast on the terrace a great pleasure on a sunny morning. I have told the owner a number of times that she could charge more but she says she is content to leave it as it is. The view is best from the top floor but there is no lift. This time we stayed in Room 24 which is absolutely immaculate. I doubt if there is a better value hotel on the entire Cote D’Azur. We had thought of staying in a sea view room at Chateau Eza, as we did some years ago, but baulked at the extra cost of 1,500 euros for two nights.
