The hotel is basically underground. The rooms have a backyard character in the basement. During my five-day stay, not even the garbage can was emptied or the towels changed. The rooms are completely empty - sanitation facilities have absolutely come in years. In addition, booked services like breakfast were simply canceled from the hotel and no longer offered - without compensation or even compensation. To get to the hotel, you should travel by car, otherwise you are very immobile here.

Once and not again

We were two at the restaurant today. To check in you can only use the Luca app. No one checked whether this was actually done. Our waiter has been wearing his mask under his nose all the time and at my request to wear it correctly he just said that otherwise he doesn't get air and is wearing glasses. The mask stayed under his nose. When asked if you can only use the Luca app to deposit the contact details, our waiter said that there was no time for anything else. Since the audience around me had many older masters, I don't think everyone registered with the Luca app. The food we ate first, but not the button. My daughter's chicken nuggets were not crushed without a lab and my second drink was brought to the survey disappointing overall.

External gastronomy during the Corona

We were coming through Hamburg again to show our son the Miniatur Wunderland train layout and decided to stay here again since we had such a nice time before. I made reservations months ahead and asked for the same room we had the last time, which was the big suite that was more than big enough for three people. I was told that I could have that room without a problem. When we arrived, we didn't that room. We received a small room upstairs that really wasn't big enough for three people. Went to eat dinner downstairs, which was very good as it always was with good service. Went up to our room through the door that leads from the restaurant to the rooms, changed into warmer clothes, and went back down to the restaurant and exited the building to go on a walk. This was where we were accosted by the young chef, who told us that this entrance was for restaurant guests only and that we had to go down two flights of stairs and exit through the back, then walk up the hill back to the front. I thought we had just eaten at the restaurant and were paying for a room also. What does it matter? it wasn't like the restaurant was packed and there were people standing at the entrance waiting to get in. There was no one there, just the chef and two friends of his smoking. This really bothered me. The stairs that lead down to the back entrance are extremely narrow and short and my wife had a very hard time walking up and down these stairs. In fact, she almost fell twice. We stayed two nights and eat there both nights and had breakfast there and the breakfast is nice but nothing noteworthy. On the morning we left, I was starting to drag my suitcases down the narrow steps to just have to drag them back up the hill to the front where the car was when the nice breakfast lady asked me why I was doing that. When I explained to her, she frowned and told me to take my suitcases out the restaurant entrance because going downstairs was stupid if I wasn't staying downstairs. I was a repeat customer here and have told numerous people about this place and that they should stay there, so to be treated that way by the chef was annoying and will keep me from coming back to this place again, which is a shame because the dinners were very good, especially the smoked potatoes.

Not the same as it was the first time here....

The room itself is not to be disputed, the sound stages until the late evening hours, but already. I have no idea what the cause was. It sounded like there was some kind of rebuilding work going on (including moving furniture, knocking, etc.). This kind of evening entertainment I had all week on Android every evening until after 10 p.m. Also, the home technicians took care at irregular intervals of loud noises for maintenance. And that around the clock, including the resulting unwanted awakening in the middle of the night.

Unacceptable noise - unusable Wi-Fi

The food at the restaurant was very good. I ordered a cross with the whole family once and everything was really good. Especially you can highlight the special smokey potatoes. All in all, very good homemaker food and nice staff who cater to every wish.

Food

The location right by the Oak Lake. The rooms (2) are okay if you don't look closely. But everything is clean. The terrace and the food are really great for it. I don't like to judge what it's like in winter. The planes don't really bother you. I'd love to go back.

We meet regularly with friends in this place. Even in the evenings of the week, it is always very well visited. The food is solid homemade food of good quality. Yesterday we had plenty of cabbage. The service is very friendly and attentive. The decoration in the place is original. The place is landscaped very nicely on the Dove Elbe.

Cabbage

Right by the lake of Eichbaum is this restaurant. The interior is very much like a flea market, the ceiling and walls hanging full of stools. The service is fun and fast. The food goes towards homemade food with small variations. The portions are plentiful. We enjoyed it here and we will definitely come back sometime. At rush hour it is recommended to reserve a table and not to be late, the kitchen closes in the evening on time. There is a 1 point deduction for the bad ventilation. Since the kitchen is connected to the restaurant directly and apparently does not have a good drain, you smell afterwards like the cook after a few hours in the kitchen :-(

Rustical and raw restaurant

Our final weekend in Germany did not disappoint with the decision to stay at the Zum Eichbaum. The peaceful location was perfect for relaxing after full days exploring Hamburg.  Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was delicious, offering unique menu options that did not disappoint.  The room for our family ended up being an apartment with kitchen, living and dining room - spacious, very clean and nicely decorated.  Another bonus was the walking trail around the lake, literally just across the street.  Perfect location for ending our tour.

This was the fifth place we stayed on our month long vacation and it was by far the nicest and the best food. The hotel sits by itself on an isolated street next to the Eichbaumsee, a charming little lake around which one can walk, and has plenty of free parking. Access to the city center itself is easy and close by, within 20 minutes by car. Our room was very large and comfortable with a large bath area. It was quiet here and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate dinner and breakfast here and both were exceptional. The dinner was awesome and we left stuffed. They served smoked, small potatoes here that are delicious! The smoked fish for the main course was perfect and the dessert was just right. Even if you don't stay here, you should eat here if staying in Hamburg. It was just too bad that we only stayed one night. I will certainly come here again if near Hamburg. Highly recommended.
