Overall, the stay at the Intercity Hotel Dammtor was fine. The check-in worked smoothly and quickly - thanks to the app as well. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room on the 11th floor was relatively small but had a good compartment and was therefore sufficient for a weekend. We had booked a Business plus room, except that it was on the 11th floor with a good view, it had no special facilities. In particular, we would have expected better and bigger beds (boxing) here! The beds in front were very hard and uncomfortable and too narrow. The shower was tasty, the course had to be cleaned better! Since breakfast was fine, nothing. We were in Intercity with good views, there was no special facilities. We were in Intercity in September, but we were always looking for a better and bigger hotel (Boxspring).

There are better (intercity) hotels!

Let's start with the positive: the rooms are clean and functional. The beds are just right. The hotel is centrally located and there's usually a parking lot. But it has something like a train station, in every corner. Zero comfortable, too bright and cold. In the bar you could have operated, so cold and uncomfortable. Breakfast is too expensive, you don't have to. At Frank and Free on Schanzenstraße 93 you can catch up. You have to walk or public transport, no parking at all!

For some weekends you need a different environment

I recommended this hotel to my colleagues. We were 17 teachers who wanted to go to Hamburg, and I was there in 2014, and it was very nice. So I suggested going there. 17 beds and 2 nights. Unfortunately, I fell down the stairs and couldn't attend. We called 48 hours before arrival and said that I couldn't attend. Still, the hotel demands that I have to pay the full price, although I won't use that room. That's why I say: never book this hotel!!!

You shouldn't choose this hotel.

I spent 3 nights here while attending a business fair nearby. I was given room 17 which was very large. I loved the old fashion sense to the room the Arabic cushions and curtain. The bathroom was not quite so inspirational, with a sink which wouldn't hold water and only a handheld shower head.
The breakfast buffet was very minimal with no service and boiled eggs were the only warm offering.
Would I stay here again? yes but only after trying to find something a little nicer.

Room 53 was beautiful in size and even had a great balcony. Unfortunately it was not allowed to use it. However, there were no other windows to ventilate. The breakfast was delicious and sufficient and could be booked for 12 euros. Unfortunately it was not always refilled, which can be improved in the future. The coffee tastes great and there is also a large selection of teas. The inner hall, the park plants and flowers as well as the virginal staircase are easily accessible on foot. Although there are theoretically free spots on the street, these excursions are always occupied.

Great old building close to the Alster and the Jungfersteig

The hotel is located a few blocks from the convention center and the university area, is a block and a half from the DAmmtor train station where the train passes (various lines) that take you everywhere. This station is a station of the EStación Central. Likewise, there is no need to take the train, because walking only 7 to 10 minutes, through very beautiful streets, you reach the center and you can enjoy all the beauty of the city.

FAMILY and MUY TRANQUILO.

This is an old hotel. Reception is on level 2 but there is a lift. The staff were excellent with recommendations etc.
The room was a good size and whilst old style it was comfortable. The bathroom was similar.
Breakfast is expensive at 12 euros per person.
The location is great. It is an easy walk from Dammtor station and close to Stephansplatz UBahn.
It is an easy walk into the city or over to the lake.

Good location and value

If you don't mind the entrance area/staircase and elevator, you'll be positively surprised here. A lovingly heart-blooded little hotel in a top location in the Rotherbaum neighborhood. A personal and cordial reception with the necessary information about the house. My room was very tastefully furnished, a large bed with a great mattress, two chairs, (unfortunately no desk)! High rooms (about 3.50 m with stucco), in a deep blue, bright chandelier - all super clean. I have a nice bathroom, a large shower - very top.

We arrived at the Hotel and realised that the promised free Parking did not exist, so we parked in the underground carpark of the Hotel opposite, which cost us €18 a day.
The Hotel is on the first floor, a small grubby lift gets you there, 
My general impression was that this Hotel was more like a Hostel.
The view from our room was of a derelict back yard, the rotten window sills of unused rooms, and of Pidgeons who lived there and did'nt go elsewhere to use the Toilet.
I slept surprisingly well. We did not try the Breakfast. This Hotel is for Hamburg inexpensive.

Not my cup of Tea

We stayed in this hotel for one night. It is a 3-storey building in Liberty style that retains its own style even inside and in the rooms. The location is very nice, in a green and quiet area, 5 minutes from the station and the bus stop that leads to the center in a few minutes. We had a very large, elegant and comfortable room. The bathroom on the contrary was quite small but still required everything. The staff were very kind and spoke perfectly English. Free Wi-Fi.
