The booking was via a travel portal and therefore the illness of a person could not be taken into account in the payment.

Room was quite small but clean and tidy. An older hotel with lots of character. Located down a short laneway with courtyard parking. Staff were really nice, helpful and spoke English. Breakfast buffet was fantastic. We were disappointed by size of room and bathroom but that is governed by age of hotel. Wifi was ok but required a new password each day.
Everything we needed was within walking distance. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Mainz.



Centrally located hotel with lots of character. 

My room was small, bright, inhabited and radiant in the charm of the 80s. It is also unpleasant that the kitchen door of the neighboring Burger King is entering the hotel's courtyard and is open there until late at night. If you don't close the window, you're live. Also the bathroom is small. More inhabitants may have bad problems with the toilet and shower. The hotel itself, as other guests have already written, is well-settled and stands out from the rooms. However, I'm happy that my room was completely clean and kept! Equally positively, the early morning, which is in relation to the huge TV and the kindness of the room, can be mentioned.

Back to the '80s

From the elevator, which smells of mold and sewage, you can tell what you'll find in the room! A small room where you can't open the suitcase, old and dirty chairs' upholstery, the same as the carpet. Walls dirty by old water leaks, the chicca is the bathroom with a cup inked and a table stained and stained! Smelly pillows, a ventilator that doesn't work completes the picture. The wifi connection, included in the price, as well specified by the reception desk, didn't work anymore!

Avoid it!

This Hotel is not worth the time/money.
I went here during the month of June, not high summer, for business. When I get to a hotel I expected a few things;
- Air conditioning
- an easy to reach room

My room had no air conditioning, it was stuck away in the back of the hotel (no rooms nearby). the room was above the entrance/exit of the hotel.

Breakfast next day was decent, however the breakfast room was small, so I had to share my table with someone else. The hotel felt old and not well maintained. It is not something you expect when paying 100 euro's for a night. 

I would skip this hotel and go for a hotel that would be slightly (30/40 euro's) more expensive.

Business trip

We stayed here for just one night, just as we were about to embark on a biking tour down the Rhine. Without being exceptional, it's a great value, clean hotel. We were well welcomed - the reception staff all spoke excellent English - and our room was compact, perhaps a little 'tired' in appearance, but fine. The shower was, however, a little disappointing, and really should have been better. Breakfast was traditional German buffet, and excellent. Had everything I wanted, and more. We also had a drink in their bar area in the evening. Very cosy, and not overpriced.  Would certainly stop here again..........but I'd like a better shower next time if I have Room 202 again............PLEASE!!

Good Value, Well situated, City Hotel

The hotel is quite crowded and my single room was relatively small. The rooms are mostly overlooking the backyard. There is a lot of noise because the kitchen door of the adjacent Burger King, which is right next to the hotel entrance, is permanently open and makes staff and passers-by loud until late into the night. Sleep is not to be thought of, since you have the choice of staying in heated, un-air conditioned rooms with closed windows or opening yourself and then being exposed to noise levels permanently. The fan in the room is no help. The breakfast room and buffet are too small for the bedding time and the lady service can be picked up with resolution.

I wouldn't book the hotel myself.

Just before a visit to Karlsruhe we visited Mainz and chose this hotel for 2 nights to allow us to explore the city.  In a quiet area close to the old centre and the Dom, and Gutenberg Museum - both a short walk away, we were comfortable here.  Not a chain, but a local German hotel.  Friendly and multilingual with an excellent breakfast as well as comfortable rooms and beds.  No air-conditioning which was a small problem, but fans were provided.  The rooms were well fitted and clean.  We used the bar as well and that was quiet and convenient.  There was no evening food but that allowed exploration of the restaurants and cafes in the city.  A good choice for our break!

City minbreak!

based on my experience they have a great breakfast, if you are staying for 2 or 3 nights only. because it is not a wide variety. however the location is great, the rooms are quite very small...and no AIR condition for the hot days in German above 30-33 degrees very bad hot nights , could not sleep very well..

It's okay to expect something better. Central, with paid storage (expensive), a bad wifi (my room was out of reach by the signal). Good cleanliness, scratched exterior walls. Dignity breakfast.
