After the waterwalk, we came across the octopus diek. At first glance, everything here looks quite simple. But it's misleading. The service was absolutely attentive and elegantly friendly and the food was just delicious. You don't do anything wrong here.

Unpretentious but good

On the small island of Neuwerk, which can be reached by the wagon from Cuxhaven, you can find this charming house right behind the deck. The wagon ride should be booked immediately with the hotel. We had a huge room (also used as a family room) on the second floor with three-sided windows. Beautiful sea view and sunset views. The hosts are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was decent. The dining at the house restaurant is nice to recommend: good household food. See also the small bar  Cloudless Co with good views and a surprisingly large tavern offer. Overall, a nice place to relax.

Get out of here!

We stayed at this lovely, family-run hotel on the island of Neuwerk in June. Our room had a great view of the North Sea, with grazing horses in the foreground and big ships passing in the background. We can highly recommend Neuwerk for a peaceful vacation with plenty of unique nature (the German Wadden Sea, which falls dry at low tide), and we loved the hotel and its staff.

Lovely hotel in a unique location

After a great cattle drive from Cuxhaven to Neuwerk, six family members and I ate well and abundantly in the house of Achtern Diek. The service was charming and humorous. The staff were on the lookout. The food was delicious in northern Germany and especially enthusiastic about the homemade stew!

Delicious, cheap and good service

We were only there for dinner. Unfortunately, the kitchen closes at 7:00. Vegetarians only have salad or potatoes. The salad was fine. I had to ask for extra bread. But the service was very friendly. At about 8:00, there was no beer. So we went up to the bar. And there was a great view.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The house is very nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was very good. There was much to choose from: different bread, meat, fish, eggs, different cornflakes and much more.

The rooms are large and very useful equiped, only shampoo and showergel were not offered. 

There is not really something serious to complain it was a good stay but there was not a real service around, as the hotel has no reception desk, the staff was always occupied and u had to look for help. With little extras there could be a higher ranking. 



Very good breakfast & friendly staff

We took a short trip to four of us over the weekend: 2 adults 2 children. We were happy to get a family room in the wagon car to Neuwerk and back as the ferry was unfortunately booked. The wagons are booked right over the hotel. The trip is not exactly cheap, as we have already paid 140 euros for the two trips with the wagon car alone (from the age of 10 years old onwards, this is considered an adult?!). The booking of the hotel room was very short-lived, so we were happy to get a family room. The small room was nice and clean, with a shower, the children slept on a lookout.

Family owned hotel

We had a great time in this hotel. They really worked on making us feel confortable. Prepared dinner for us when we arrived late. The children fell in love with the place (and their dog!). I can recommend it strongly. Peace for the soul.

Great family hotel, fantastic hotel family.

We had decided to have a late lunch here. When we entered it smelled a little strange and indefinable. Maybe it was just being cleaned in the kitchen. The door was not locked. The employees were on the phone when we entered and eventually came to our table. More service personnel were not there. In the meantime we decided to eat only ice cream and nothing warm. The ice cream itself was ok. But it was left almost uncommented. We would have liked to hear a good appetite. Unfortunately, it is very clear that most of the hotel staff are only seasonal workers. Unfortunately, the guest had to ask for a chain there. The ice cream was first given for demand and then we were brought to the commentary. Well, of course, the service did that. But we still can't get enough of it.

An inviting impression is different

If you are not looking for action, but want to relax in a peaceful, beautiful setting this is your answer. The staff is very accomodating and friendly, the setting beautiful and the ambiance is perfect to recharge from hectic city life. Highly recommend it!
