The bottom line is that I enjoyed this stay - it was walking distance to the Plaka and Acropolis, many museums and attractions.  Using my iPhone's GPS we got around fine. However the hotel is up a very steep hill - it's 5 flights of stairs up from the street below - or up a steep hill.  One of our favorite places to eat was on the street below, and we were charmed by the Saturday Farmer's Market that took over the street. 
 Every cab ride we got was a different price - some cab drivers backed the taxi up the hill, others went up and had to back down, many cab drivers did not want to go up the hill and dropped us off at the bottom.  Our rooms were spotlessly clean, renovated, lovely.  Bedding was very nice.  The Acropolis view could not be beat!!!  The hotel staff could not have been nicer or more helpful.  However, you must know that the area is not the safest, there is graffiti everywhere, we were told not to be out in the area after dark, or to go to the park directly next to our hotel.  On a daily basis people were drinking and/or high - we're talking about 9 or 10 AM and ongoing... stumbling around, open containers, etc.  I always felt secure in my room, yet I also made certain I was inside the hotel well before dark.  We stayed for about 13 days - the hotel did laundry for us, assisted with some tours, and were super helpful.  The price was reasonable, and I would consider staying here again.

Not a family spot, everything was filthy and the we were concerned of the state of the bathroom that we didn’t use it. We paid 60€ for 1 night. We left 2 am and they had to order us a taxi.  Awful do not recommend!!

“Enjoy the facility’s”

We really enjoyed our stay at Orion hotel in Athens. The staff is really friendly and helps you with whatever you need. The rooms are clean, the bed is good, the bathroom is cozy and clean, the airconditioning works really good. 
So, the hotel itself is great!! The reason why I gave it 4 instead of 5 points is because of the location. You have to climb a long and old stair to get to the hotel and not all the streets in this area feel safe (we avoid some of the streets and than its okay). It takes about 20 minutes to get to the hotspots of Athens by foot. 

But again, the Hotel is great!! 


Hotel is great! 

Loved the vibe in this part of Athens. Orion is located in Exarchia which had some very interesting food , bars and coffee places very close by. The hotel itself is very clean and I also loved the breakfast that was available for a very small extra price. Total value for money.

Really affordable and great place to stay in Athens

We loved Exarchia and this hotel is perched at the top of this area with a great selection of bars, coffee shops and restaurants. We felt very safe in this area as there are always people around. 

The hotel itself has comfortable rooms and a great terrace from which you can enjoy breakfast or take your own beer up in the evening. Staff were also great, very friendly and helpful. Note there is no bar or attached restaurant for this hotel but as there is so much choice locally it doesn’t matter. Make sure you visit the restaurant in the park above the hotel, it was the best value we experienced and had a good atmosphere. 

From the hotel it is a 10min walk to the metro and to the national archeological museum. 

Only 20 mins away on foot is Athens central market, which is great for eating out.



Perfect location and very comfortable 

This is a nice hotel to stay in Athens. It's not too far from the centre, about 10-15 minutes walk (though the last minute when coming back is quite steep). You get a nice view of the Acropolis, especially from their roof veranda. The room was quite small and basic, but it wasn't a problem for me since I was on my own and out most of the time. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Cheap and cheerful place to stay in Athens

The rooms do not look like the pictures on the website. The staff was fantastic, kind and tried their best. The room was clean. Really strange shower,  wiring, and lay out. But liked the neighbourhood.

Pretty good for Athens

It's an extremely inexpensive hotel, generally a nice 2*. Staff who are eager to help. But here's the location. It's a very strange left-wing neighborhood with a lot of questionable people.

Budget hotel with a tragic location

Through a hospital appointment I had to stay 3 nights in Athens. I chose this hotel because it suited my needs and I only expected a basic Hotel at the price. It is a lovely Hotel and  I was stunned at how welcoming it was and the staff were wonderful. Especially Nikos and Joanna. The roof terrace where you have breakfast has views over Athens that take your breath away. The Hotel is spotless, the cleaners never stop and the Breakfast at only 7 Euros is wonderful  value - so much choice. The styling of the hotel is perfect for the area and is ' Greek" not preciously trying to be 'modern'. It is tastefully decorated and the windows have mosquito nets so no problems at all. The area itself  has many restaurants with lovely food at reasonable prices. The area has a lot of Graffiti but some are real works of art. I would say that the area I was more than happy to wander around on my own at night and eat by myself. It is away from the areas where protests go on and I never felt in any danger. Nikos kindly arranged an early morning call for me and organised a taxi to take me to the Hospital. They could not have been kinder. I loved my stay there and plan to go there with my husband in the future.

You will not be disappointedHotel.

Polite people, 24h reception, clean room, comfortable bed, AC, TV, great view!
The only thing is that during our 3-night stay, our towels did not change, although I am sure that we would have clean towels if we asked so. 
Totally recommend it!
